2000 points I think. It is a crap ton of jerks on the table top. Which is all I really care about as Horde Marines sound neat. I originally was testing the thought list with Blood Angels, but I just don't think it has the same power as the Wolves in this type of - massed body format. I can sacrifice a lot to force bad opponent decisions. Will see if it works in 6th too hehe. Just means I get to paint more orks hahaha.

Last Thursday I play a Fabius Bile list with a Contemptor. I didn't roll to bad and Chaos Rhinos with Combi-Meltas are pretty spicy. Plus Mark of Khorne, Bile marines are mean jerks. Here is what I played.

I played versus an unorthodox Space Wolf list. My Contemptor killed a Land Speeder and got punked by some melta in the belly. I did kill some Dreads with Kharn and then Bjorn and Kharn had an epic fight (I took off his claw/butt hurt/fist). We drew the game as I couldn't roll more then a 1 for the run with the Mark of Slaanesh guys who couldn't put down 5 Swift Claw bikerz fast enough. I hit on 3's and wound of 4's and those jerks stayed around for a long time. If I had gotten rid of them by the time my turn came around I would have won by getting over there. Oh well jerks! Still it was versus Brandon who is probably the best painter locally. His stuff is nuts and it is awesome to play with some insanely painted models. And no matter what it tickles me to kill Bjorn hehe (I don't think have done it yet though). Click to see it.

Alright that is it for now - some small batch of minis to look at. That is about it - time to go to bed. Waking up early to walk and get some exercise. Need to get myself doing better.

Goatboy - Lordie Lordie its Wednesday

Doing an update as I painted up some stuff the other day that I liked. Woohoo! So far the week has been good to catch up. Got a small bit finished for a client that will go out in front of the 40 shoota boyz I need to complete it. Woohoo! I like painting orks. I want to get another flyer built for another client too. I got some ideas to get the ork out of it and it should work out pretty well.

I bought the VC book because I always liked the Vampire counts. I doubt I will do a fantasy army but always enjoyed the idea of unit fillers and creating dynamic blocks of dudes that will die to a jerk hole of a spell. Or something from the Rat Bastards. Either way it is an awesome looking book and I can't wait to see the 40k ones that will come out (LEGIONS!!!).

The 6th edition leak is interesting as I feel the rules give me a lot of neat factor with them. The sheer brutality of assault mixed with the movement will make for a very fast game that handles into my realm of play style. I want to see it cleaned up and I hope we might get an earlier release. I think it looks good from my initial readings and does a lot of neat things that will increase the game play instead of just making it too simple. Plus they fix cover saves!

The sheer amount of melta deals with Paladins and Blood Talon assholes. I might swap two out for flamers or other weird options. It will drop the nutty WG squad down in cost too. Either way it is a thought and this is a basic list. That Termie unit is a bit nutty as it should beat the crap out of anything coming near it. So will see and all those Eternal Warrior wounds is pretty neat. RAR! Plus the Lone Wolf is designed to chase units down without the terminator armor. I have a model painted up like that. He will hide behind rhinos and do his business.

Painted models! Just 3 today with a converted fat butt Ork Warboss, some Dark Lanced warriors for the DE I have been painting, and finally the VC guy Krell guy.

I will update friday how the army faired. Will see if it works alright.

Woohoo - got a game in Saturday against Adam. Again as usual the dice favored me. I think I just suck the good dice rolling juice away from Adam. He only did one thing wrong that I think would have changed things up. That is just me. But I won on the back of my Grey Hunters and having more dudesmen available.

I did get pissed as I dropped my army on the ground. Broke a few things and was just - well not happy. I think I might be tired of 5th edition right now haha. The new FAQ's though do help so maybe I will get in a better mood. Or it is time to bring out my Battle Wagon orks again. Who knows. Either way - the arguing with buddies will stop as the Necron FAQ is out and it answered everything (correctly I might add). This is great as it helps keep the bile spewing to a minimum. The home life is going good as the wife is working and life is alright. I just think - well I am just kind of meh right now. Plus Cedar is not helping either. Hopefully with the walking and just eating better I can drop some weight and get in a better frame of mind too. Plus I want to get a tattoo soon damnit! ARGHS!!!

So with that in mind - how about some stuff I painted!

And finally some Art. I decided to go a bit more Spartacus with him. I think the weird vampire look you normally see is well - not very cool. I think of Angron as Spartacus - just complete aggression with this edge of intelligent warrior in there. This is exposed arm, fur cloak, and a much more leather type of armor design. That is just me. The other bit is for a shirt design for a client.

I am tempted to run another Lone Goat. I want to test one, see if it fits and then go from there. Hell I might run 3. That sounds awesome as they run around. I would need to tweak the list out - maybe drop Arjac but who knows. Still it sounds awesome if they ran around punching crap. I will end up making two. Twins who hate the world. I got most of the bits - buying more now from the Ebays. I have to get beastmen stuff and the normal guy - Spikey - doesn't have them cuz only special peeps like me want em haha.

But yeah - that is it for now. Want to try Lone Wolves as a method to causing annoyance in the middle of the board. The Terminator option allows me to take a Chainfist - a must to kill dreadnoughts etc, but the regular guy can run units down - which is pretty spicy. Arghs!

Friday! and its my Birthday!

34 years old. Woohoo! I am going to eat with some friends and then do some bowling/pool/video games/laser tag/booze. Something like that. That is the plan anyway. One year I did go cart racing and they sold booze there. It was cold so the spin around the track sobered you up, but still. Woohoo!

I didn't paint much this week. I hope to catch up this weekend. I did finish up the Plastic Dudesmen. The art is good on it too so hopefully 20% of you enjoy that hah. I did color up my version of Angron too. I will be posting that up when I get a proper update this weekend with minis.

I just wanted to say yo yo yo in the name of Gi Joe! Or something like that. I will be playing some 40k this weekend too - hope to test out some Logan stuff to figure some things out.

Just a lot of bodies on the table coming at you. There is a nice center punch unit, not too crazy and lots of bodies. I wanted to try this one out to see how it worked. Will see if it plays alright this weekend. Not sure on the others but will see.

Look for pics of the Chapterhouse JetBike review models. I did a PreHeresy World Eaters bike and then a Chaos Bike. The Chaos one is built. I have 10 Hellions painted up too as well as some Beastmen for the big Mordhiem order. Look for some Blood Angels coming at some point, more orks and of course more Mordhiem and Dark Eldar. Sorry for the lack of pics. I forgot to upload it haha.

Goatboy - Monday!

Aroo!!! Rain is coming today so I will just have what is primed in my box. 10 hellions. ARGH!! I will build up some Mordhiem stuff too. Lord watching the cooking channel at work hurts my soul a bit haha.

Got in a tournament this Sunday. I was a bit rough due to waking up late and getting bitched at by the people there. My name was put on the list when it shouldn't have and some people were left out. Whoever put my name on there - thanks. And It sucks to have people miss out. Hopefully that will change up as we get more room set aside, jack asses like me aren't late, and well - all of that too hah.

I played my test wolves list. I went 2-1 with a loss to Nick "Darkwynn". My attitude was poor before the game began and like a best bud Nick told me to shut the f up and quit bitching. That helped me a lot and made me realize that I have been wanting to win too much instead of just playing the game. I think a lot of this comes from the last few tournaments almost getting there instead of winning. Winning 7 rounds is tough and getting amped up till the end is a hard thing to come down from. This year will be a better game playing year as I have weekends opened again. I do think Grey Knights have weakened my game as I just utilized their superior states to push me ahead. So with that in mind let's look at the event.

Pretty simple, basic and swarming. Lots of dudes with guns to shoo stuff.

RD1 - Anthony with Blood Angels. 2 Storm Ravens, 1 Jump Pack Assault, Termies/Libbie/Priest, Death Company, Astro, Death Dread, Furioso Dread.

This is a go big or go home list. Mission was Dawn of War, Capture and Control - with BP going for killing an HQ and having troops in the opponents deployment zone. This was one of those bad games where everything goes right for me and everything goes wrong for Anthony. Sometimes Goatboy has just got to win. First TWL lascannon shot took out the Death Company Raven. Next batch of shooting takes out the Terminator Storm Raven and I blow up the Furioso Dread with missiles. 4+ save sometimes doesn't help. From there he was walking and my Rune priest stopped all spells and I just grinded him out. I charged his Death Company with my Lord and Friend and chewed them up and then took a charge from the Termies and chewed them up too. The Lord did lost 2 wounds to the one arm DC dread. That storm Bolter is a meanie. I won this game with both Objectives.

RD2 - Nick aka Darkwynn with a fun webway list. Harliquinns, Wytches, 3 Talos, Hellions and Baron, and some Scourges. Mission was Annihilation and kill all the Heavies.

Nick got the bonus points for the heavies obviously and off we went. He got a charge off on my lord and friend with the Hellions. He got the reroll wounds Combat drug and I barely lost the lord. If he would have survived the game would have been different but that is life. Awesome game and a good time by one of my best friends. I am glad he gave me crap to break my angry funk. It was an odd game as I failed to wound with bolters a lot (why do you roll 2's!!!) and missed with fists on the dirty Talos's. The Hellions did their job kicking butt all over the board. This was a loss to me.

RD3 - Josh with Draigo win. 10 Paladins with stuff, 5 Man Paladins with stuff, Draigo, Libbie with Warding Stave, 2 Ven dread with fist/MM. Game was 5 Objectives no bonus points.

Lord I don't like Draigo wing. It is either a no fun for you or no fun for me type of game as I make you roll bad or you just roll average and kill things of mine. I played the game to section off the fat 10 man squad and cause hard decisions across the board. The lack of squads hurt Josh as he had to come and deal with me instead of just holding on an objective. The kick in the junk was when I JaWs Draigo through a hood and a -4 from a Dreadnought. His Fat Paladin unit was left at the end of the game as it is a pain in the butt when you miss with all your melta shots. Wolf lord did good by killing off Paladins and the Librarian. I won but did not max out.

I ended up 2 points behind Nick and lost out on Third place. Nick got stomped by Brandon's Venom spam list and we thought my list would have had a better chance. Oh well. It was a fun time and thanks to Dragon's lair for hosting the event again. It has been almost a year since I played there last and I will hopefully get my game in the right frame of mind playing more events and more games. Woohoo!

So let's break down what worked. The 3 Squads of troops Grey Hunters - worked. 2 Razorbacks. Meh. Dozerblades - awesome. Wolf Lord - Ok. Friend - Meh. WG fat units - ok. So right now the question is where do I go? I could go towards a Logan Wing - utilize the fat WG units as hold back and design an army to come and punch you in the face - ie massed dudes. That might not be bad. I kept wishing I had two melta guns instead of just a meltagun/combi-melta. Still it s a thought. Right now 30 Grey Hunters is where I start and then build from there. I will have to experiment with more options to find the sweet spot in the middle.

Goatboy - EBook Review - Welcome to Demos

Goatboy here again with a book review. I'm planning on doing these more as I read/watch tons of stuff and it would be great to review some things as a different way to stretch my blog as well as my own "ramblings". Today I want to review something I have a bit of a hand in with the EBook - "Welcome to Demos" by Jonathan Lister.

To give you an idea I was originally contacted by Jonathan about doing some art for the book. Of course everyone knows I do freelance art from time to time and I will get emails asking for help/design work/etc. I take these as they come and make sure to look for projects that I enjoy. I only have so much time available for extra work so I need to pick and choose. So when Jonathan sent me the script I read it with a skeptical slant.

And let me tell you that within the first few pages I was hooked. I am a big fan of "crime" stories. I also like things to be twisted with a bit of supernatural so this story hit me on all marks. This story hit those marks as it dealt with corruption in a world with Werewolves. Now think of these guys not as the blood thirsty killers but instead of regular Joes who have little bit more to worry about if they get mad. This real world element to the idea is one of the great things within the book. It isn't a "oh look I am wolfing out" it is instead a modern story dealing with corruption as well as family dynamics. Now of course the family dynamics is a bit more intense than the ones we are used to but they still revolve around issues we all have – growing up and finding out who we are.

I really liked how smart it felt as characters made decisions that made sense with the background given for them. It is always frustrating to read a story where the decisions a character makes are not character driven, but story driven instead. When I read a book I try to continue or build a background for each of the personalities talked about. I want to know their motivations and see their decision tree. This probably comes from me being an amateur comic book artist and always trying to work on personal stories. I didn't question any of the characters motivations - whether it was family, money, or justice.

Jonathan told me he is actively working on next story so I can't wait. The art I did for the story went with the idea that Werewolves are an everyday part of society. I wanted to incorporate something recent and decided that most likely the pack less Werewolves would join with the protestors. It was a fun project to work on and I can only hope I have a chance to draw something else for the next chapter in this story. Goatboy - It's Sunday - so I am posting?

Yup yup - posting on Sunday. As I continue my movement into just straight Wolves I keep coming back to not wanting any Long Fangs for sure. It limits what my army moves and does. So no Long Fangs still. I want to do some Thunder Wolf Armageddon nonsense too next week - but I still feel winning with a few models is not exactly the coolest option. Still it is something to look at and another cog in the testing wheel of good/decent interesting lists. I do wish the troops had more - well stuff but what you can you do with marines and the codex design in general. One to two troops.

Goatboy - It's Tuesday?

Goatboy here again - surviving Xmas with the best of them. I will be building and painting up my Contemptor dreads. One is going to be a Goat - thus a Space Wolves one and the other I plan on making a Chaos dread platform. That way we can test out Butcher Cannons and other junk.

My "I am done with Grey Knights" post is churning along nicely on BOLS. I am just tired of playing the same book. I get that way from time to time and just want something different. Plus I miss my goats. Here is the current list I plan on bringing on Friday.

Gonna buy some flight stands from Dragon Forge to get these guys up in the air. I have seen them up close and at 4 bucks that is worth less pain.

I also changed up the art on my blog a bit. A new one will go up on Full of Monkey's site and this one was a - oh crap I got an idea and I drawz it last night. I still need to preview my Barbarian comic too. Lord lots ot do haha.

Oh I saw two movies - Sherlock Holmes and Young Adult. I liked both. I was a fan of the no nudity, 18th Century, Lethal Weapon Sherlock Holmes movie and the second one did not disappoint. Lots of action and Mr. Downey being Mr. Downey. I really like Jude Law in this too. Good movie all and all. I give it 3.5 Stars out of 5.

Young Adult is another one from the Juno crew. I liked it as it has Patton Oswalt in it. You don't like the main character because well - she is supposed to be a terrible person. But at least its a person you probably know or had flow through your life at some point. Still it was a good movie with dialogue that was sharp but not too sharp as to be unrealistic. Patton Oswalt was awesome as the anti romantic movie best friend role. Good job for sure but you have to like the type of movies from Diablo Cody.

Woohoo!! I got the wifey things. She has a bday on the 30th so I got her things for that too. She is getting me the body for a Contemptor dread. It will have a Goat head on it because I obviously hate the game. Hehe. A buddy is getting me one too so that one will be a Chaos one as we need one for games locally. Beyond that I might buy myself something 40k. Who knows.

I also got all the pieces for a small addition to the Ork army I painted last month (small my ass - 40 shoota boyz and 6 nob bikerz hehe). They will have cool heads so look for those starting up soon.

I am excited about this new Goat Guard guy as it will mean I get to paint more goats. Yay for my own personal stuff! I still need to rework a logo and I am just stuck on the design for right now. Might look to a graphic logo for an Icon and then a more cartoon like one for my banner head. I need something different. I also drew up Mortarion and Dorn. Colored Mortarion and Dorn will be coming soon. From there I will color up some of the older ones and continue on my goal to get GW mad at me for drawing the Primarchs for fun. I should just make the Goat Primarch - Goaticus the Mad! In fact I will go ahead and do that damnit. Codex Goat.

I like it so far as it moves and has lots of dudes. Not sure if the Wolf lord is needed as much, but it lets me play with Lemmy my super Wolf lord model. He isn't as nutty as I normally make him but he works this way. I wish I could have Logan in there - as it would make my WG scoring. I could probably do that. It would be a monster set of scoring units and that might not be too bad. I wouldn't have the Rock - but still. It could be an annoying list. Blargh.

Goatboy - Whoa Friday.

This week has been a bit of a paint/art bust. I have drawn stuff - just haven't had time to color it up and make it all photoshop like. I did do the Plastic Dudesmen - it won't burn your eyes like the last one but I think it is pretty funny.

To give you an idea of how they are usually made - Wyatt usually comes up with an idea or I come up with some image - and then the writing happens and I just go from there with the art. lately the art has had a nice boost due to me drawing by hand instead of digitally. My hand drawing is a lot more - structure so it has a lot more confidence in the lines. Hopefully I will get a new upper logo drawn up that fits my brain. I got pieces done - and I just need to magically put them together in photoshop to make the magic happen.

But enough of that - maybe I will do a making of Plastic Dudesmen. Who knows - maybe the 10 or so fans that like it might enjoy it haha.

I got a game in last night with the Goats list I posted. I liked how most of it worked - I missed an assault hammer but still thought it worked well. I want to try adding in a hammer unit in there too - so here are some other thoughts. I also loved the WG walking Long Fangs. They gave me some interesting options and I felt pretty good about that choice. I am not sure on the Scouts as I didn't really need them - plus if I move into a small Death Star I might be fine. Will see if it can fit in the point limits I build out for myself. Oh and in the game Bjorn missed with a TWL lascannon. So someone got cured of whatever they had somewhere.

That I what I will play this weekend too. Will see if I can dump the Wolf Lord to a Battle Leader and fill out the Plasma Grey Hunter Squad. I just want to play Thunder Wolves haha. I have decided Dozer Blades are a must. I only failed one intial roll - but I was able to go willy nilly through terrain not giving a crap about anything. So thus my decision has been made.

I am hoping to get a Venom done tonight as well as the beginnings of the Wych squad. I hope to also get some base started on some of the Necromunda guys. Whatever I don't finish I hope to hit hard on Saturday morning in between my weekend game. Wish me luck. It is crazy how much better I feel when playing Wolves.

Basic list - will tweak it. Not sure on the Scouts - might look at another Grey Hunter squad instead as it might help shore up some nonsense. Yes it is a rhino wall - but I think it will work. It should let me win missions instead of just crushing an opponent too - which is good.

Goatboy - Its Friday!

And I am at work. Bored bored and super bored. Lord it will be a long day - enough that I will be driving home to get things to do. I wish I could have scanned up some of this new comic idea. I will try to do it Sunday so I can post some pics. I think it might be good. It is one of those ideas that got me to draw a quick 7 page story with just one sketch starting it - which is usually a good thing. Will see. I will post it up here to look at too. If it seems neat it might be a weekly comic somewhere out in the webs.

First of all yay UT for beating A&M for the last time most likely. Sad they are leaving. And yes I went to UT. My little brother went to A&M so he can suck it!

Also the continued annoyance of Goatboy well continues. Last week we had a sewer pipe back up (not as bad as it sounds, as we caught it but still sucks and we still got a deal on getting the poo claw thingie cleaning out the pipes). Then the water heater had one part it it. Lucky I had a warranty thingie and 60 bucks later we have better hot water. Then yesterday my exhaust pipe to my muffler disconnected while coming home. So my vehicle got really throaty sounding. It is under warranty as it was fixed when I got rear ended a few months ago, but still it is annoying. At least my wife has a cool job so that makes life easier in general. She is happier, she will have money to spend on her things, and I don't have to feel like a scrouge with money. Yay beer!

Beyond that I want to try and get a game in this weekend. That is my plan. Most likely the tweak Draigo list to test out some more. Will see if it works better with Psybolters getting replaced with PsyAssault cannons. Not sure if it works better. Will see.

Right now I am in a personal mini rut. I don't have anything I need to paint for myself (small changes ie assault cannons, etc) so it is kinda meh. I am having fun with client stuff but still want to paint some things for myself. I got some ideas so will see. A super wolf lord thing, this evil Dreadknight started, and maybe another crazy Evil Draigo build out. Will see as I get closer to needing something to keep myself busy.

Blood Angels is still a neat idea. My current Grey Knight designs gives a rat's ass about Mephiston, but a lot of other builds are scared shitless by the mad glittery doom weasel. The Dual Storm Raven builds will just win games sometimes as they throw nonsense into your throat and you just choke on said nonsense. I just feel like there isn't a whole lot of neat with BA that hasn't already been found. Grr.

I should have a slow week next week - Thanksgiving and all. I love Thanksgiving - Turkey is one of my favorite foods haha. Hopefully this week will end up working out better then last week. We had some house nonsense last week that continues onto this week. Water heater, pipe to sewer, and other fun times. Lucky I get paid with some model stuff later on this week and my overall buying desire is pretty dead due to nothing new coming out I want to paint up. So all in all fun times.

I will hopefully get a 40k game this weekend. I didn't play this week nor last week so I need to get back on the horse with the Grey Knights to find what I really like. Sorry it still keeps on with Grey Knight nonsense - but I just really enjoy the army. It fits all the aspects I like - 3+ armor, massed T4, shooting, and a pretty decent assault element. That is what I need to be happy. Just wish the models were more evil haha. I guess I have to wait for Chaos Legions :).

I keep thinking Mordrak could do some dirty stuff. I know peeps have thrown down with the Mordrak + Librarian with summoning and bringing some friends along the front line trick but I am wondering can he work as a - Oh SHIZNIT - type of affect that allows more of your army to work.

What I mean is - can you put your opponent off of their game enough to capitalize on weaker units pouring out more firepower due to having more turns to interact with the game. A lot of the time I define my armies based on how long things are supposed to live. When I build a Rock list I expect my rock to usually survive till turn 4 - right when people should start to looking at trying to "win" the game.

When you build lists designed to work this way you can hopefully guarantee that other parts of your army are going to live longer then the normal when it is just a straight shooting gallery type game. Does this always work? Hell no, but still it is something I think about from time to time.

So with that in mind I want to build out a list that tries to work then shock and awe type of game I like to play. So here is a Mordrak list thought -

HQ: Mordrak + 5 Ghost Knights with 2 Hammers and 3 Falchions
This weapon load out lets me dish out a crap ton of attacks or at least get a chance to donkey punch something to death if need be.

I need scoring units to at least start them game and with such a front loaded designed list I need the cheapest asshole around.

With Mordrak and these guys - I got a big FU presence that jumps in front, shows you there business, and makes you scared for your family.

This hits at 1998 pts and I think it might have some merit. Give your Knights Scout if you want or whatever other nonsense you think might work. Drop forward, drop fast, and get your business done. Heck - even if they fully reserve drop Mordrak near the front lines and just wait it out as needed. Coteaz joins one of the ghetto boyz and goes from there.

Make the two Ven Dreads scoring and have them sit on their "shiney metal butts" on an objective as the rest of your army moves out and swarms. Not sure if the list is good as it feels like a normal Goatboy - copy and paste list. Other ideas would be to figure out more Henchmen crazy builds and create a cool Dark Mechanicus list too. That is another neat idea that might work also. Drop the two Ven Dreads and create some Assassin builds to help steam some assaults. Still I think this might work for my Goatboy Brain as something fun to try out. Just means I need to create that Evil Dreadknight to add so I at least have 3 to test out. Plus this isn't a try to be tricky Summoning list and just goes for the - FU PUNCH IN FACE RARRRAGH!!!

It's Monday! Another week! Woohoo! I've thought about just not doing Necrons at all. It just doesn't fit into my game style. I will continue on with the Knights and then wait for Chaos. Chaos will be the Alpha and the Omega! The beginning and the end. Or so I hope. I hope with all my evil Goat heart.

Goatboy's Continue Affair with Grey Knights

The Necron book doesn't do it for me - so the continue build craze goes on with Grey Knights - Or Evil Red Knights. I don't care - I play what I want when I want. And try not to be a dick about it. So thus - Evil Grey Knights. Or Thousand Son's Knights. I still have my good ones - and I really might look at selling them off as I don't need them - but still.

This is a mean little list with 4 TWL Psycannons - Massed Psybolt Heavy Bolters, as well as an Evil Dreadknight that jumps and punches crap. It will look pretty mean on the table as a fist of Evil Doom is coming at you. Plus there is no Dreadnoughts!

I could drop the Crusaders from the DC units and see about getting another Cheap scoring unit. But either way - it is a lot of boxes - utilizes shrouding and has some funky stuff that can jump out and punch something. I could drop the Knight for other things - A dreadnought or a Ven dreadnought but really I think it will be fun. Plus I get to make an evil dreadknight conversion.

I am also tempted by Wolves again. Something like this.

Goatboy - Back from Feast

Sorry for the late update. I don't even have any painted models! Lord it has been kinda busy catching up. I should have a ton of stuff later on this week. Plus some art! I drew a bunch and plan on doing a much larger update with that as well as some bags. But before that - lets look at some list thoughts.

I got 3rd place at Feast losing out to a Daemons list. You might have seen it on the live game show for Feast. I failed a toughness test due to forgetting about Boon of Mutation from Fateweaver. It was to Kenny who is an awesome dude and a teammate from our winning ATC team. If I had to lose it was at least to him. Awesome player and just a great game. I stuck it out and "lost" to victory points after the primary to tertiary was tied. Woohoo! Still I kicked some butt and found the list to be pretty good eating through a Marine Army, Ork Army, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, IG, and Grey Knights. The list did really well and was a huge hammer for most opponents to deal with. In fact - I think the 10 Paladins is just a nice rock to hang your army on too. I think adding in the cheap troops with massed walls and firepower really helps it out.

Quick Rundown of matches.

Game 1 - Seeding round. Actual Battle points - Played a Vulkan list - Vulkan, 5 TH/SS termies, Crusader LR, Razorbacks, 2 Predators and some dudes. He set up for the Alpha strike and I just put Draigo hidden behind some hills. I came on and killed stuff. Paladins came on turn 4 with the +1 - but they came on and killed Vulken and friends. I had blown up the LRC with some inceptors that stayed still. Dakka Dakka. I won the Primary, tied the Secondary, and won the Tertiary. Woohoo!

Game 2 - Ghaz Orks - 2 Wagons, Ghaz, Meganobz, boyz in trukks, 1 batch of lootas, 1 set of Gretchin. Another Pitched Battle set up. I siezed the iniative like a jerk and killed Ghaz's Battlewagon with a glance. Great guy to play and I just go lucky blowing that up. One wagon lived almost the entire game through butt and side shots of my entire army. I immbolized 3 of my Razorbacks on the same terrain. Win for the Goat as Draigo ran across the entire board punching things like a boss with 1 wound left.

Game 3 - Blood Angels - Meph, Corbulo, some razorbacks, 3 Baals, Dante, and some dudes. Pitched Battle set up as I just put the blob there to ensure some beat downs. I sat in the middle and Meph came out. He charged me - he only had one attack from Psychotroke grenades and it went downhill from there. Dante did almost take out Draigo but Superman did his job punching out the Masked dudesmen. Win for the Goatboy.

Game 4 - Damien who built all the terrain for the event with Logan Space Wolves. I have chatted with Damien for a long time. I see him at events all over the place and his terrain he made for the con was awesome. This guy fixes minis and just loves this game. Mission had spearhead deployment and I just set up the Wing to walk around causing problems as is the norm. He had a LoganWing in front of me but he didn't come out to play (a good idea). We played and he stayed put in the back as I picked off pieces and won the game off of Kill Points. Nothing too crazy other then his inability to blow up my guys. I won this game too.

Game 5 - SirBiscuits roommate. First the missions were really good. I thought they had enough variety and I didn't feel any one mission was junk. So good Job on there. Yes I don't like W/L as I will say in one of my games - but as a whole the missions was good. Ted was playing IG and it was a Kill Points primary mission. Dawn of War and I set up with the power T for my paladins and started off waiting for the army to come on the board. I went first, moved back a bit and watched everything come in. I had put my Inceptors and 2 Razorback squads in reserve and they came in after he blazed on. Welp suffice to say I got ride of all 3 Vendettas (cover doesn't help versus massed firepower) and then just pulled back and to the other side of the table where his army wasn't set up. I picked off Chimeras and other bits with my long ranged firepower and won the Primary of Kill Points 7-0. Dropping the Vendettas shook Ted a bit and I knew that he would be playing catch up. If we had to win the majority of the Missions I would have pushed forward with my Paladins and gotten into the mix of things - punching people and doing what Paladins normally do - sometimes win games.

Game 6 - Versus Kenny and the Dream ends. It was Daemons, Crusher, Fateweaver and friends. I had an distinct advantage with Coteaz having Dark Exocommunication. I forgot Fateweaver had Boon of Mutation and I lost Coteaz when he jumped forward and gave him the bad touch. There isn't much else to say other then I lost on about an inch and a d6. Kenny was rolling hot a I poured 40 wounds in Fateweaver after his initial drop and didn't do a single wound. It was nuts I should have killed him and then had an unfun game with Kenny as the Paladins walked around punching Daemons in the dick. Still I stayed in it through nutty dice rolls and made Kenny beat me via Victory Points and not the missions. If one Paladin with the 2+ inv save had survived we would have almost tied as I was only down by like 400 points. Still awesome game and if I had to lose it was at least with my ATC boy Kenny or Nick (even though he knows my army is a foil for his).

Game 7 - CJ who I see all the time in other tournaments. Great guy with a Draigo wing list. He would combat squad his fat 10 man unit (a big no no as 5 guys are much easier to kill then 10). He had a custodias themed list with a Storm Raven, small batches of Purifiers, Libbie and friends. An all or nothing list. He forgot some stuff and just called it as we were both tired. I was about to punch out his Draigo and friends with a charge after dealing with the Libbie and assault Paladins without losing a bro. From there it was just a meat grinder.

So with W/L in mind I think I might have pulled out first with Battle Points. Nick had a lot of close games that would have hurt him while I had a lot of Massacres. The round with Kenny might have taken us both out as we tied down the line. Still it was a fun experiment and I think a tweak could make things much better. I like the all missions are of equal points that the ATC did. It makes it where some armies who really can't win one mission - knows they can push the other two for a "win".

The only changes I think I might do is tweak out some of the Henchmen and drop the Inceptors. Those guys almost died every game and I think I could figure out a better options that would give me the same sort of jump punch mixed with a bit more well - more. Here is my changed list.

I could drop the Dreadknight to get more troops or other options - but this is the thought design I think I will end up playing most of the time for Kick Ass games etc. It is mean, and lean. I am finding if you want to play a Paladin fat unit you need Draigo. The GKM is almost there - but being able to take a Lascannon on Draigo is extremely important.

Basically I make walls and try to shoot the crap out of you. I don't know if it will work - it really depends on how the Stalker looks and the size of it. I am still unsure of Necrons and think Scarabs are not nearly as neat as people want them to be. Of course I play Grey Knights who can shoot the piss out of them and auto blow up blobs of them. The Spyders are easy to kill too with only 3 wounds and easy to see and kill out. Still will see if 6th makes things better.

Then it is off to Feast of Blades for some 40k action. Been a really long month and hopefully November will be one to remember. I will finish off some projects, get paid, and refill my savings. Woohoo! Plus I hope to get some other commissions working too.

It is basic - filled with a fat nutty unit mixed with cheap scoring assholes. I think it will work fine and play alright enough. I just have to not be stupid and think of the mission at hand. Plus don't out think myself as I have been doing lately. As Nick says - I play better when hung over and not letting the decisions eat me up. I guess I haven't had enough tournament play lately and it has been killing my game. Will see if I can turn it around this weekend.

I will have my pens and markers so if you want a bag drawn I will be there ready to get that shiznit done! Plus I should get some time to get some art busted out too. Look for some drawings coming soon - I have done up some Chaos Marine guys because drawing evil stuff is just cooler.

I can't wait to read necrons - I don't think I will get the army right away as there are too many missing pieces to really get me going. Plus I want a Comtemptor dread that is kicking the crap out of something. Or two - one doing some kind of Kick nonsense while the other is unloading his gun arm into something. Dakka dakka mutha fu#$A!

I do hope the Necrons change up the meta game a bit and let other armies creep out. I think Wolves might be coming back mentally for myself so will see. The Swiftclaw nonsense is really sounding fun as I cover the field in Chaos Horses. Screw the Thunder Wolves - this asshole goes Zoom Zoom!

I also have gotten a Magic Commander deck so I will be playing that from time to time. As most gamers, I played Magic more then a few times and always found the game fun (if cost prohibitive due to the competitive nature of myself). Hopefully this Commander style will stay pretty easy and let us have some fun that isn't so - well d6 related.

I was almost there too damnit! I wouldn't have gotten first but I was posed to get 2nd with my scores. I got decent paint scores too - so hooray! The Monkey Dreadknight was a bad idea but that is life. I know more for later and have developed my list more. I think the changes I created towards it for Feast will work good. That is it - I will have my Commander deck in Denver too - as well as markers to draw on bags. Get a bag from me and keep me fed at the very least. It has been a very slow month and thank goodness feast tickets were already paid for hah.. Got back from the Boyz - my bud Nick aka Darkwynn won the whole thing. Dodge me and I was in it till the end when the good ole Greg Sparks spanked the poor little Goatboy. I need to get my head out my ass and just stop over thinking things too much. Go for the grind versus the trick and just bring it. That is my plan for Feast. Let the dice rolls ruin me not my bad decisions!

Beyond this I am excited about Necrons coming out. I can't buy anything as this last month has just about killed me. It never ends for the Goatboy. This week starts the change of not being able to paint at work. It also marks the last week of my old schedule and a change to a new one. I can't double down on time so it means a change up in how I work. The new schedule is 7am to 4pm so I should have time to bust out some models after work. That is my plan anyway.

This week is the in between and I plan on taking a bit of a break, work on some art, and well get ready mentally for the Da Boyz. Mentally in the fact of throwing down dice for 5 games haha. Either way it should be a lot of fun seeing some friends and hanging out with Nick Rose and a bunch of others. I am almost finished with the display board. I need to put more magnets on bases as well as get some flock and other bits on there to match it all up. I plan on doing that tomorrow after work. Woohoo!

I painted up some Mantic Marauders too so look for those reviews to pop up soon too. I finished up all the Deff Koptas as well as some other small bits and pieces this week. Add in a Plastic Dudesmen and I did pretty well for my last "double time" Sunday.

Of course if I do that I end up making something nutty that won't work and I eat a crap ton of sadness donuts. Sad panda indeed :(.

Beyond the little beginning gripe how goes the game for everyone? I am alright with it - enjoying painting more. It makes me want to buy some of the new stuff. Of course I need to finish some work to catch up on some monies. This month I had to buy too many things due to plane tickets, life stuff, and just well more life stuff haha. I should be ok as I finish everything off this month.

So I will be at Da Boyz if you want some bag art. As well as Feast 2 weeks later. Like some kind of jet setter!!

Just writing this up as I catch up with some TV with the good wife. Hooray for DVR's! Lord I got two more weeks on my work schedule before I finally settle into a normal life a bit. So what things have you guys been watching TV wise? I've been on a Fringe kick and really can't wait to watch the second episode. I like Dexter too (hooray working for the cable company and getting freeish TV). Boardwalk Empire is always cool and then all the funny stuff. South Park was good too. Lots and lots of good stuff. Haha - damned TV.

Alright - got one game in with a test list for Da Boyz - going to change it up a small bit I think to make it overall better in the long run - instead of just being annoying versus certain lists. One gives me a Str 10 blast sometimes with a Beacon as well as some 3+ saves to keep guys alive?

I could just amp up the units a bit more with the 135pts. Get Psybolt on each of the termie squads and maybe make the other Inquistor a psyker with tricks. This gives me a 75 on the Comp system which is pretty nice.

Another option would be to just take a straight henchmen unit -

Elites: Henchmen - Warrior Acolyte X 3, Plasmagun X 3, Razorback, Psybolt, TWL Assault Cannon

This is expensive - but gives me some options to add a servo skull/FU infiltrator option as well as giving me another Assault Cannon that is TWL. And Plasma. I am going towards that one as a unit that is in reserve and can come out and help at times.

So the "final list". Who the hell knows. I think it gives me what I want.

Goatboy- Sunday - Survived an Apoc game - yay!

So we played a big Apoc game this Saturday. I played a goofy Grey Knights list and we got lucky versus a crap ton of Ork Super Heavies. My Dreadknight killed an ork Warboss thingie, Dreadnought and finally a Stompa with the power of the foot fist way. Woohoo!

So yeah - good times indeed. Beyond that I am up to my normal painting nonsense.

Things I painted the last time we talked.

Goatboy - it isn't Sunday - it is Saturday

So Ard Boyz came and went. Two bad match ups and bad missions later and I got beat by decent players. It is life - and makes me rethink some army lists and build designs. But hey - when you over think your army list you just get boned. And I think I need new dice for this army too haha. But oh well - good times.

I went to Dallas to play and ran into Brent from Strictly Average. Man I want that guy to move to Austin so we can have some battle reports. Either way it was worth it going to Dallas and seeing some buds as well as letting my wife hang out with old friends. Good times.

First game I played MSU Space Wolves based off of Andy's list. Good list - and with the VP mission I couldn't do much to catch up the points as my army would fail some saves. I did well with the Rogue Psykers but it just wasn't enough. The second game was verus 50 GK termies and two Inq with rad and Psychotroke. That one was bad as I failed a crap ton of saves. I fought the good fight and did kill a bunch of guys so that is good too haha. It is one of those armies that work versus certain things and then others they just don't do as well. Good guy too.

But enough of that - Ard Boyz is well - Ard Boyz.

Currently I got Feast of Blades and Da Boyz GT to do in the coming months. One is heavily comped the other is well not. I am doing one to try and get into the ETC - the other is cuz it was a cheap flight and Chandler is a good dude. So good times indeed. Currently I am looking at a Coteaz list mixed with Termies. It is a good guys versus bad guys type of board design that I hope looks good and plays decent.

Should have been Sunday - but I painted this one dude and I wanted to show him off. Lord I am feeling out of it. The fires in Texas have made for a rather evil Allergy season for me. Boogers are pouring out of my nose like crazy. It sucks. But I am still painting away like a mad man!

Anyone watch True Blood? It was a nutty ending. Other then that Dr. Who is kicking some ass too. I can't wait for some of my other shows coming soon too. I might do some more but will see as I will be heading out to Dallas to play at Ard Boyz this year with some Grey Knights. I played some test games Vs. Darkwynn and won both missions. My army is just designed to work the missions well enough and it is harder for Nick. Plus Black Templar are not the best match up against Grey Knights. Ini 6 and str 5+ hurts. Plus the Psycannon should have stayed Str 6 instead of Str 7.

I tested out some Rogue Psykers and I think they work out pretty well. I am going to play two squads. This whole thing is why I have been creating an Evil Rogue Inquisitor army. I can't stop painting something Chaosy and when I started doing a much higher level of painting I had to go to Chaos for sure. After Ard Boyz it is back to cutting down playing mean lists and probably bringing out my old Fabius Bile army to have fun with.

Watched True Blood and Dr. Who. Damn fine episodes. Been kinda meh on True Blood but I think the Season Finale will amp it up pretty good me thinks. I can't wait for Boardwalk Empire. I might just have two Rogue Psykers as I think I don't need the 3rd. I run into Eldar and I lose it.

I want to paint up some Goat Riders with those new Ogres. I think they will look awesome. Anyone see how the new Ogre book is? Is it actually decent? I hope to get some games in on Thursday. I played local Minus67 with his Venom spam army and I played some GK bullshit to help him test it out. I shot a lot and my dice rolling was hot. I would get one penetrate through and I would roll a 6 or 5 every time.

Not sure what is next for my brain - too much to think about haha.

Rarraagghh!!! It is Thursday and I am at work super early. I am changing up my shift in a few weeks and I wanted to test it out to see if I could wake up and check out the traffic etc. So far so good so hopefully by October I will be in my new shift and my wife gets to see me more often haha. So yeah - enough of that onto some Warhamms.

Lord I am excited about Ogres. I will buy the book to at least see if I want to dip my hoof into the gaming Fantasy waters. I have a WOC army but I really didn't want to play the new edition. The idea of big monsters running around just sounds awesome to me so I might just jump in and paint up a crap ton of Moobies.

So yeah I can get lots of troops - some shooting and other nonsense. Not sure if it is worth wile so will see. I could go to 5 Paladins with two psycannons if I wanted - saves me 100 pts or so but not sure if it is worth it. Might do some DreadKnights to get some teleport action - which makes me think some Inceptors might be alright. Arghs!

I plan on getting some games in today. That is my hope. I will be playing Knights as usual - need to keep on playing if I hope to make the ETC team this year. I want to test some nonsense as usual. Sorry - got caught up in life and just chugging along. I have been writing GK lists and other nonsense trying to get prepared for Ard Boyz and Feast. I will post some ideas up when I get back from a small Vacation to New Orleans. Should be fun with my wife. We need a few days off haha. Her friend lost her Mother so she has been hanging out with her.

So instead of posting a lot of random bits I will just post some stuff I painted over this time. Woohoo.

Goatboy - Whoa Friday??!?!?!

Hey Goatboy here again - I swapped one of my weekend days with a coworker that needed Friday off to do some finals for his school. So here I am at work just writing stuff and doing some Technical Support on some Fiber customers. Other then that I am also working on some mental exercises for this game thought I have. As well as waiting to paint up some Mexican headed orks for a model review from Puppet Wars. So woot.

So basically this post is another Game thought journal on this idea I have. Will it work? Who the hell knows. I need to plan out some rules and go from there. But today I want to go over some game location thoughts.

I love Post Apocalyptic stuff. I wish I could spell that without having to need spell check but still I love the look and idea. I want some kind of high tech stuff mixed with a broken world with all kinds of neat stuff. Some magic thrown in too because I love all that stuff. So that is the basic idea.

The other thought would be to work it as a party based group. You have your main hero - then some subordinates and henchmen/machines after that. The system would most likely have a rotating order system as you move a model and then your opponent does - with the each turn having an initial roll off to see who starts first etc. The design set up would be a lot of buff and debuff options to help create combos as you take down certain aspects of the enemy.

I talked about stats and I think I want to limit the amount to create something that is easy to keep track of and use. Something like Movement - Melee - Range - Defense - Life.

Movement is pretty easy as it is basically how far they can move. There will be a charge option and other things to create more info within the rules. Basically try to design movement to be something that will create game play that isn't just dice based. I think that will be a big help in creating an interesting and still competitive game.

Melee is also pretty easy as it is your ability to hit something in combat. I think this state will also have options that allow for the models defense to be replaced by its Melee ability. This way you can showcase better fighters versus just fast or strong fighters etc.

Range is how good at shooting you are. I don't want to make this a straight shooting gallery game with most ranges being short and the options here most likely expensive. 40k is a shooting game and this one doesn't really need to be that. This will fall into the Magic realm as there will be options for Missiles and other long range effects. The idea is that each action takes a specific # of successes to hit the opponent. Your range is how many successes you can try to roll. So if you have Range 6 you roll 6 dice and if you succeeded for the item/ability you do its damage to the target.

Defense is how well you can take a hit. This can be in melee or when someone shoots you with a bullet. I kinda want to create a game that lets your guy be invincible at times to small arms fire. Basically we always hear how these terminators too a bazillion shots and kept moving - but in gameplay that doesn't happen. Normally get a squad to roll 6 wounds they should roll a 1 and fail. The question is there a way to make something like that happen and still be effective?

The idea I had for this is to try to do a system that takes whatever you beat a score by - that is how many dice you roll. For every 4+ you succeed - ie do damage or something else based on what is needed for the ability. So in other words - let's say your Melee ability is a 10 and you are hitting someone with a defense of 5 - you roll 5 dice and for every 4+ on a d6 you do a wound. Simple and easy. Let's say your Melee is 5 and the guys defense is 10. Then you can do nothing to them. I know that not being able to do anything to a unit is bad but we can always look at other options to help this out - ie Buffs and Debuffs. Or ways to gang up on a model - ie groups that can add up their melee to try and hurt the opponent.

So of course the idea of ganging up can allow for different options for activation. Basically you have special guys that can activate two at once or groups of henchmen that activate at once. All different ideas that might work. Again this is all just mental thoughts and other things as I try to work on the game.

So to give an idea - here is a hero I thought about. Not sure yet on any points or anything - just an idea.

Deadshot Pistol - 2 Successes = Basic Hit - 3 Damage / 3 Successes = Hard Hit - 4 Damage / 4 Successes = Crippling Hit - 5 Damage / 5 Successes = Crit Hit - 6 Damage / 6 Successes = Dead Shot - 7 Damage

- Special Abilities -
Rot - Area of Effect - Cursed - 5 Inches around target - all within range are at -2 Defense until the beginning of the next turn. The area stays with the target. 4 Successes needed to hit.
Bloody Curse - Missile - Cursed - Target takes 1 Damage - -2 Defense for rest of the game. 3 Successes needed to hit.
Undead - Takes 1 more damage from Holy based effects.

Cursed will mean something like Holy will mean something. Based on what kind of damage etc. There will be others that will help give a lot of interesting options etc. That is my thoughts initially.

Of course I could be writing about something that is already done. Who the hell knows I am just putting stuff down as I think it. Would it work? Maybe. I think it could be interesting especially if I come to it from a "competitive" fast game play option.

Other then this I also tested my first Henchmen build. It did alright - I played the following which is diff from the post earlier this week.

So this might be a full evil army as I look at doing a design from a Skaven standpoint. I don't want to play Fantasy but I want to paint Skaven haha. So will see. What do people think of this one? A massive kinda spamie list with lots of options. It does give me a lot of conversion possibility. I might have to forgo the Skaven thing as I would have to repaint a whole army - so I might just look at making this a normal so I don't have to redo Rhinos. But the Skaven stuff will look cool! ARGH!!!

So yeah - who the hell knows. The Dreadknights would be based off of Ork Dreads with the regular dreadnoughts based off of Kill Kans with Skaven bits and other nonsense. That is the thought. What do you peeps think?

Goatboy - Oh my Gawd a Wednesday Post

I am still thinking of my own game thoughts. It isn't going away - just life has kept me from more hashing out the thoughts. I still think I will go with a d6 system - just cause I like the feel of d6's. I play a crap ton of White Wolf stuff and D&D and just never liked the feel of D10's in my hand. I think the idea and sharpness of a square just appeals to my artistic side.

So for those just reading this - the game thoughts - Basically I want to do a Party like system - like a Role playing game - fighting another party like system. You have your "main" hero but everything else is a helper set up - with your main hero being the helper set up. Most likely with this design sense you could move beyond the player vs player with player vs monster or "adventure" design. It would most likely be a hybrid game - ala SciFi/Fantasy feel to it. I won't want to say Steampunk - but I am thinking some kind of High Tech grunge punker design for bits of it. Really want to push the customer "hero" creator type of thing that allows you a lot of freedom to make your guys. Max 10 in the party most likely so will see. It is all just a thought - with a heavy push to make a really fast game.

But yeah - so the thoughts are there and I want to work on it bad. Plus I want to do a Post Apocalyptic comic too. Might use that as the stepping off point for the game design. Interesting haha.

But enough of that for now - if that interests then cool. It could be good but I am just a gamer that has too much math in my head and not necessarily a pro game designer. We all think we can make a good game but it is still hard haha. Trying to make it easy enough to work without much fighting the "rule intentions".

Beyond that I am going to start testing this week on some Coteaz builds. I plan on creating an army that is split in the middle with the thought of a Chaos Influenced Rogue Inquisitor getting attacked by a GK strike force. That way I can create a really cool display case as well as try to make a good army that will look awesome and kick some ass. That is the thought anyway. I want to try to get this done for Feast as I have half of it (need to tweak some colors on the models I have and look at maybe creating it).

So the idea is the board would have two different effects - basing etc - that showcase this. The attack of the Elite GK army into the evil scum horde of the Rogue Inquisitor. I did a test Inquisitor last night.

Will see if this list works. Might tweak the Paladins to a big fat 10 man GKT squad so who knows. I do think it will look cool on the table top. So will see. It might be fun too - which is always good haha. I think it has enough Goatboy crap to make it worth wile.

But yeah - that is my initial thoughts. Want to make some stuff that looks a bit nutty - and try out my new paint technique for some vehicles and other options. Heck maybe get a better paint score haha.

So far this week I have done some things so all is good. I have more things to do but I should be on time. I think I am hitting a water park this Saturday just cuz. It sounds like fun and I been dying to hit some slides.

I will post more Ard Boyz tweak thoughts later on - I think I might have some new options for my Round 2 army of doom.

Goatboy's House of Awesome!

Goatboy here again. I did more experiments with NMM. It made me think - crap I am going to have to redo a lot of my Grey Knights army. Arghs! Or I just say f it - maybe sell it and then build it all again. But I digress. I played Ard Boyz and tied for 2nd/3rd with Darkwynn taking first. I had 2 tough matchups where a 4+ on a lot of it would have won me a major. Oh well - still I won every game so that is good too.

RD 1 - Mech IG - Minor Victory. It was a tough one and I lost due to the traitor not coming in and counting as "killed". Stupid reserve rolls and his -1 to reserve rolls. I only got one outflanking option on my traitor squad so it wasn't all bad. Still I shot a lot and killed things. It was a shooting game.

RD 2 - IG - 250+ model horde list. Lord this was a bad one. I played the reserve game again and he didn't move to engage the objectives. If I rolled a 4+ I would have gotten two of his objectives contested and I would have won a major victory. It was fun an the type of IG list I would play as it pushes the idea of - can you kill all this stuff.

RD 3 - CSM - basic list and the guy didn't have much due to not having enough models. It was a bad match up and my termie squad took out almost his entire army. Psychotroke grenades went nutty with a 6 rolled on some plague marines and they all failed their Initiative tests. Purifiers picked them up and just kept on kicking things in the nuts. I killed every model and just lost my GM and all but one Terminator.

Here is the list - I got some more ideas and I think RD 2 I am going to play a crap ton more Purifiers and try less of the Psychotroke nonsense. One unit and that is it.

Blargh - another week and more minis painted. Lots of neat stuff to do. I have been experimenting with NMM and hopefully I can figure out some other uses for it as I delve into actual metal in NMM to see if I can find the happy medium I enjoy. I like how I got the gold but need to find a good way to do the silver. Maybe more blue?

Anyway beyond that I keep coming up with more Grey Knights lists for Ard Boyz. Won't post them yet as I still have some thoughts. I think I am going with a base of the build I took to the Alamo and won overall with but will see. No crazy Inquisitor tricks as I just don't feel it is worth it. Just straight up Knight with Knife in Face action. How tired is everyone about talking about Grey Knights eh?

I wrote out a Thunder Wolves list that I think would be a decent Ard Boyz play list. It is tempting to bring this as it has the sheer brute force I like for the simple missions. I posted it on another blog but here it is again.

Mean, lean and just plain aggressive. It should give most lists fits as the Trio of ass kickary gets close and ready to Dance Punch their way to freedom. And hell 50 troops is pretty dang sweet!

Beyond that I want to tweak out my Iron Warriors a bit too. Probably take Meph and Sanguinor for some kind of idiotic beat down machine. I don't think I have to paint anything else other then losing out on my Furioso Librarian - Mr. Stabby Stab. It still has 5 Dreads in it though and I can go around punching things and flying around and stuff. That is always fun. It is something like -

That is my initial thought. It should be fun, punchy, and just plain neat to play with. The army is painted too so hooray beer.

Oh yeah I am still thinking of the mini game. I still want to go with D6's because it just feels right. I played too many years of Vampire and find the d10's to be annoying. I just don't like the shape for some reason. But more thoughts I hope later on this week.

Are you guys excited about Ard Boyz? Me eh - I get to play in it this year so that is cool with me. Obviously I am throwing down the Knights. Most likely it will be Knights for the rest of this year until I feel like painting something else. I keep wanting to make Tyrannofexes (sold one) so I might be messing with that. See if I can get some Carnifexes on the cheap. Add a tube to the top - green stuff and magic and viola I got me a Fex to test out. I got the 9 Hive Guard I need too. Woot! But will deal with that if I ever start building the army.

Beyond all of this I am working on lists and more lists. Fun stuff as usual. I still want to work on my comic book idea but will have to wait on that for a bit as well as my own game thoughts. Still rumbling around in my head.

I tested out the Inquisitor/Monkey group in Chimera and didn't like it. Still on the fence about the Vindicare. I tried it out - it did some stuff (sniped the Librarian after popping it out of the LR) but still it makes me wonder if it is worth it. The dreads always do good and the crazy Purifier assault squads are awesome. I am wondering if just a massive amount of purifiers are worth it. Just fill out all the slots and go for broke. It is an idea and I think it might be doable for Ard Boyz. It just means I have to make more guys. Means I might only have one Tech Marine to give me an anti death star unit. But shit I am sure you are tired of Grey Knights.

I might make an Iron Warriors/Mephiston for my Iron Warriors group. Go with something nutty so I can play that army. I have only thrown it down once so it calls to me with its ostrich dreads and other bits of nonsense. I also want to do the Dark Eldar webway army - but I kind of want to make it crazy somehow so I am not sure. Will see if I figure out some way to make them look crazy and neat. If not I just go with the regular models and my different color scheme.

It's Sunday - WOOHOO!

Last week was a busy one. Work was a bit much and then I was finishing up the HOA stuff. Congrats to my budy Colby who won one of the armies. The Steel Legion one. He already has an IG army so it is funny he has another now haha. So beyond that let's see.

I got a game in with Brent from Strictly Average. He brought his Brotherhood down to Austin and I gave him a what for with my Grey Knights. Look for the Batrep to pop up on BOLS before long. It was a fun game. I liked how my Grey Knights played as I felt in control of all the pieces throughout the game. I think I am close to finding my optimal build for the Goat so will see. It is the army I plan on bringing to Feast of Blades in November. Fun fun fun.

Might as well post my paint list. I got through almost all of it last week so I am hoping this week will be another good one.

Brent got a chance to see my game room so look for an article to show the sheer amount of bits, models and other random pieces. I will also be doing a review of the new Air bag from Battle Foam in a few days. Fun stuff indeed.

Basically I am going for a massed - I don't run away army. that way one of my purifiers squads can jump out, lay on an objective that is in some ruins for a 2+ cover save. Not to shabby. I got 12 TWL BS 4 missiles, 4 TWL BS 5 Missiles, an unlimited range blast, 5 MM, 2 Lascannons and a crap ton of anti infantry firepower if need be. Plus the Purifiers with two Warding Staves will be annoying to deal with.

I went without a Librarian as everyone and their momma is going to be packing anti psyker stuff and I just want to be like meh - my anti psyker is -4 when you target something of mine. That is pretty spicy and I don't need to worry about rolling "bad" to try and stop something. Just roll average man - as that will fail hahaha.

So really I have done most of the stuff I needed to do this week. Good for me as the rest of it will be bust. After the HOA I got more ork stuff to do so look for tons and tons more bikerz. I think I will be going crazy with the bike nonsense. And then there is a White Scars army too. At least I found a way I like to do white. Woohoo!

6 Troop choices, massed amount of guys on the table top and lots of different ranged firepower. I like to have as many boots on the table top if I can. I know the amount of Kill Points is a bit high (18) - I still think it is doable. Plus you can always do something in any mission most of the time.

For Ard Boyz I can look at either adding in Paladins if I felt I need some more fat bodies. There is always a thought of a 5 man squad with 2 Psycannons plus a GM with a Psycannon too. Do a little dropping on some of the other units and now I get a deep striking batch of annoyance. It is a thought and it feels just massive enough to be right. I could also look at an Inquisitor but with just one unit of guys I am not sure what would be worth it. Though having a small Jokareo/Servitor Multi-Melta bomb might be neat to have too.

What are you guys expecting to see at Wargames Con? I have this feeling that Blood Angels might do well this time around. We got a bunch of decent players bringing them. I don't know about Grey Knights. Lots of what I call fat builds are showing up. I just don't think they have what it takes to survive 7 games and the dice rolled in those games. Hell it would be interesting to see a Seer Council build too haha.

Tuesday - wish it was Wednesday - cuz it would be my Friday

So yeah - another day another dolla and I am all out of gum or something. Today I want to talk about the game my brain is cooking up. I am just adding in ideas and figuring out something eventually. I have talked about the game I want to play and this is my thoughts into creating something. Will see if the rules work (will post them as I figure it out).

First of all I want the game to be very customizable character/model wise. That is the biggest thing as I feel it needs to allow the modeler to have a full range of creation and movement. You don't always have to do it that way - but it should at least give you the options. The issue with options is that you have to make sure everything works within the game and still provides some kind of balance.

That is the other factor in any game - you need to make sure there is some form of balance. This usually is easier to create if you keep the overall rules small enough but still deep enough to allow for variation. It also helps if you build the game completely at once as we all know adding stuff later can create deep pools of broken crap. So that is another thing we have to think about. Plus a balanced game can create a tactics game that is both fun and still competitive.

So with that out of the way the game idea is some kind of Hero based, party based, tactics driven fight fest. I really want the hero you play to be very important to the army but still let your army function without it. Yeah I know a balancing act that can sound cool as I type it out but not be cool if I play with it. So let's look at some other games that function as hero based games. 40k has the HQ that leads and can activate things but really a lot of the time you don't need the jerk to function. Warmachine is all straight hero based with the death of the Jerk meaning you lose the game as you guys turn off and run away. Magic has super wizards fighting it out over expensive pieces of cardboard. I think all of these have options that I feel could easily be tweaked and changed to create a really cool game. Or so I hope.

The initial thought on the game would just be a rule's shell that you could use any models for. There are a ton of manufacturers out there so any initial thought into creating models etc is thrown out the window as I would rather have a solid rule set that works. I want there to be no Grey Areas as that is one of the most frustrating thing to deal with - people that just want to try and fight the rules and fight you at the same time. I also want to limit some of the luck factor in dice rolling - which usually means using more dice to activate the rules in the game. Rolling one dice is a problem as the averages can be screwed up while rolling two would generate the target average number and allow you to create the targeted system a lot easier. I like how Warmachine does it as you feel most of the time your guys work like they are supposed too. Armor and dodging is mitigated with the rolling and I think it works pretty well. I just wish they had more plastic models haha.

So lets go back to what I am thinking about for whatever I want to call my game - Goatboy's Awesome Haus of Damage!

1 - Hero based - I want the main hero to be customizable, effective, but not make it the end of your game if it kicks it.
2 - I want to mitigate the bad rolling by moving to more dice rolled at a time. Helps create the averages
3 - I want solid core rules that don't leave questions or if they do I can answer them quickly

So that is the basic start. So let's look at a Hero thought.

Hero - King Fancy Pants! He needs some stats as any game is based on numbers so lets look at creating some.

Aim - How they shoot
Melee - How they fight
Resist - How they can survive stuff coming at them - some kind of option to ignore or lessen damage
Health - How much they can take
Armor - How much can be ignored before they take health damage
Move - How fast are you

Simple and easy - a small range of stats means you can utilize Universal Rules to try and create new avenues of game thought. Does it work? Who the hell knows as this is just the brain storm phase. I don't like a lot of stats as I feel it jumbles things up. A lot of things can be combined into one option and allow for a much easier to get the basics rule system. Why does Magic work? It is pretty simple. Simple means more people can jump in and creating the correct avenues for depth is the key to creating a neat game.

So let's look - Aim is the basic thought set to hit things. I am thinking of using 2 dice to represent how you are trying to do something. An average roll on 2 dice is 7 so we want to create things towards this average. We can push the dice up and down based on that and utilize rules for trying to hit something. Let's say something has an amazing dodge ability - add 2 points to your Aim score when trying to hit. Little things like that are easy to add in and can create some dynamic in the game play. We could also use options like stand and aim to add stuff too. Little things like that. So let's say the average to hit roll is a 8. Tough to hit at times but with options you can move it up and down.

Melee - Pretty simple. It is how you hit things when you get mad and want to throw a angry fist dancing party. The options can be the same with Aim and this is just another way to add a stat that isn't the same.

Resist - This one is interesting as you can figure out ways you can ignore special damage. Or have some kind of special option to ignore stuff. When damage is rolled at you. It is just a thought.

Health/Armor - How much donkey punching you can take and how strong your man chest is. Lots of thought on this.

So the first thing is to create a basic and see if the math works as you move around. That is where the move field works and we can go from there. Just basic stuff. Then I can add in the whistles and doodads.

So yeah - these are some basic thoughts. I will write up more as I figure things out. I got an idea for the background, world design that should be neat so will see.

Thoughts? Ideas? Am I dumb for thinking about all of this?

So really a weird week - I got another week or two of HOA stuff, Wargames Con, and then finally commissions are back on track. It has been a long time and I got a huge ork army to do after this. From Orks to more Orks eh? Hah.

So let's see - new list thoughts. You saw my current go to GK list and I was goofing around with full foot lists to try and create some kind of crazy shock and awe type of lists. GK are a mid range army and you have to get up there to cause some mischief. You can create some crazy bunkers that assault armies don't want to go near but you sacrifice movement and make your smart opponent play for the game versus just beating the crap out of you.

So full foot list - but with nonsense thrown in as usual.

It is pretty boring build out - but something from this might work for other lists. Might only need one Inceptor Squad.

With some combat squading you can break apart the Inceptors and get anywhere you want to contest as needed. Your Tech Marines will hopefully mean your Purifiers have a 3+ cover save most of the time plus the ones that don't move can throw out Templates as needed with Conversion beamers. Not sure if you need all 20 but who knows. It is a "thought".

I went with Purifiers because they are fearless so tank shock nonsense doesn't hurt you. Plus if you get within 24 inches you are putting out a ton of pain. And it is all foot. We have been messing with massed foot Strike Squads I just feel the DE players are just waiting to hit them with tank shock after tank shock - it is what I would do. I still think a true build will come out and most likely it is a Coteaz/Crowe monster. Hell this is what I thought of just after talking about it.

Lots and lots of gun fire from everywhere mixed with some mean counter assault and other nonsense. In fact this is what I am probably building next to test out and see how people like it. Just looking at the numbers it seems like a complete brick to play against as you just don't want to get near. It is designed to have 2 major interact units mixed with a very tough center to deal with. I do think there might be space to fit in Inceptors to give a way to get over to your opponents side asap during the end game.

I really don't see much wanting to throw down versus it due to the sheer amount of fire power it throws out at all levels of the table.

Ok enough of that - lets look at some models I painted up.

There you go - right at under 2000 pts. The Techmarines give me an extra fist plus really annoying grenades. I could drop some points around and try to get them with Warding Staves but I think this will work. Plus I can create a base if need be and get a 3+ cover save or a 2+ if I go to ground without having to cast a spell. Not too shabby. I also have enough ranged shooting to take things down as needed. It is basic, mean, and efficient. All the standards for a true Goatboy list.

Hell the best thing about Wargames con this year is we are going to do the Golden Goat. It is the person with the meanest list that still gets maximum sportsmanship points. That is the joke as I make nasty lists but I always come out alright. I tell JWolf it is cuz I am not a dickhead. Hehe.

Goatboy - Midweek Update

First of all - the HOA stuff. I got almost all the troops done - just need to get some bikerz in to finish of a big batch of bikes for part of the main army. I got some Burnas to do as well as one more BW and then whatever the evil Mek Teek sends me to paint up. So all in all a good amount done and we are pretty much on track. Like a BOSS!!!

Now onto something different - I painted some Malifaux stuff for a new client. Hopefully he likes them. I sent them off yesterday. Painting them was fun and look for a review on BOLS sometimes soon as it was a starter box I painted. Amazing, metal models I didn't mind painting and putting together.

Woohoo!!! Hopefully I can do some more. He liked em from the pics - so hopefully it ends up being a continuous thing.

Woohoo Goatboy is here. It has been a long week as I get settled back in and start to plan out my miniatures this week. I got my first Malifaux commission in last week and finished it up today so you will see some pics of that coming up later. I also drew on Big Red's army bag too. Fun times indeed. Alright enough of that mess - lets look at a new Grey Knight list I want to try out. I call it a tough Nut list as it is designed to be very hard to break if you have to come and get it. It tries to build multiple layers as it engages the enemy and keeps the midfield protected.

2000 pts - and kinda weird list. It is designed to make a base - then you have your mid range threat (Purifiers) and your long range threat (DreadKnights) that can come on their own and beat on things. The Scout ability is pretty neat. I want to test it without the Purifiers and try 3 squads of strikes instead of the one. Also I might not need the Teleport on the Great Sword Dreadknight. I might also try two Tech Marines with Conversion beamers to get my long range fire support. It is a thought list that will probably not work but you never know.

I have toyed with some foot list ideas - so will see when I get a chance to get those out there. I think there is merit there when you design lists that can hit all sides of the board so will see. What kind of things are you finding fun with the GK book?

Woohoo I survived Richmond, VA

I had a great time hanging out with Rob from Spikey Bits at his store FTW Games this past weekend. I got to draw on a lot of bags, play some 40k, and even through down with some Magic cards. All in all it was a blast and hopefully I can get back there again sometime. A big shout out to Jeremiah from Stony Point Refugees who gave me a good game as well as made me want to make it out to their big cook out.

So all in all an awesome time. The store is really nice and their community there is pretty awesome. Rob has a ton of different mini options as well as just a ton of stuff that keeps your gamer soul happy.

I am slowly working on getting back up to Mini painting speed. I got some more stuff to do for the Heroes of Armageddon and then I am finally back into commission land with some upcoming Malifaux as well as some more orks and marines. That is my plan.

Woohoo I have been a busy beaver. I got a lot more orks to do but I have cut a huge chunk out of the lot. I got some images from one of the guys helping out - Alex aka RedBeard and his ork trukk is looking fricking amazing. So without much else here are a bunch of images of what is currently going on with this Speed Freaks Army.

I am hoping next week to get some of the Bunra's started as well as Battle Wagon and some bikerz. All in all this army is going to be big, loud, and red.

This next week is going to be busy as I catch up on stuff before I jet over to FTW Games. The HOA stuff is hitting hard too so I will make a good post in two days with what I have done so far (orks, orks and more orks).

I am working tomorrow so that hopefully means I get some time to get to painting. I need to paint a squad of Grey Knight Strike guys for myself and some other things. Fun times indeed.

2000 pts - I can make almost everything scoring if I want and I got some solid annoyances in the middle with a chance to get a 2+ cover save in some terrain I call "home". Will it work? Who the hell knows but I think it will be a way to have me play a non SC fest. Plus I love the 10 terminators. Brick of doom coming at you. Hell I can scout them up too hehe if need be.

The other thoughts would be to find a way to get a Dreadknight as a surprise drop to go get an objective. The asshole is just too expensive no matter how much I want my monkey knight to punch face. The other thoughts would be to get a Storm Raven as a way to get the Purifiers up and in some personal business. I know the weapon load out is odd on them - but I feel two flamers could help and I will only get to shoot with two guns out the top. The GKSS might be held in reserve most games or they will be there to protect me versus Deep Strikers. Fun times indeed.

Look for more lists as I think up some other ideas to compete. I wanted to build this for none SC tournaments as it has a bunch of different things in it (beyond the 3 dreads, which can be swapped and easily changed to give you a jack of all trades army).

I've got some cool news as I will be a special guest at FTW Games aka Spikey Bits next week June 2nd - June 5th to celebrate their year "birthday/anniversary/I'm open".

So what does this mean? I plan on bringing up a crap ton of markers and paint to draw on bags, my Grey Knights army to kick some ass with, and hopefully get some games of Magic in as it has been awhile and the new set looks good.

Some if you are in the Richmond, VA area come on down and throw down. I will be drawing on Miniature bags for $25.00 as well as doing art.

Here are some bag examples if you are interested to have me draw on them. I will have the different color options that lets me do some cool glow work as well as some neat stuff. And as usual I don't have to just draw Warhammer stuff, I can do whatever you want me to do. Just find me something to base it off of and I can come up with something cool and interesting.

Of course the Monkey Dreadknight will be coming up too. Will see how many times his monkey ass dies during a battle. I did this one for the Spikey Bits challenge and I think I might have to make a brother so we can have two monkeys of doom charging around and punching things.

I have been stuck in Nashville for 2 days. My flight got canceled on Sunday, then Monday, and finally I got out and back to work on Tuesday. So that means I have to work on Thursday to cover the Monday I couldn't work as well as cover some time from getting in late. I know exciting stuff eh?

A quick announcement - I will be at FTW Games (Aka Spikey Bits) on June 2nd thru June 5th for their "Birthday" Celebration. I will be drawing on bags, throwing down with dice, and even playing a little bit of Magic if I feel like it. I know the Gaming Renaissance Goat Man. So come out and say hi. I'll be drawing on bags for $25.00 bucks a piece as well as doing other random and interesting art things for those interested.

Well if you knew about the ATC championship as the Siege then you know the team I was one - WreckingBOLS - ended up taking the win home. It was a lot of fun even in the heat and I will be there next year for sure. I wasn't the biggest fan of my army as I feel my Space Goats need to be put up for awhile but I still had fun. I played versus a DE where I got spanked (making lots of 5+ flicker field saves during a Dawn of War mission does not equal a win). I then played Tau and beat up on them. Next I threw down versus Grey Sparks and his Foot Eldar and lost (bad set up on my part and lazy playing as well as Greg being a kick ass player). I then had a rematch versus the CSM player from when I won the championship at Adepticon and lost a close game (I would immobilized with a glance but only roll a one with the pens). I then played Aaron from Da Boyz and he was with Nids versus my dual JaWS/ML list and I won that one. From there I played Brian Pool from the Wrecking Crew and won against his Dual Lash list (bad reserve rolling for Brian as I slowly chewed him apart). All in all I did well with a 0, 25, 10, 25, 25,20 for the final points amount for my day. Good times indeed.

The best thing about the event is that I had fun with all my games. I think the idea that losing a game doesn't get you kicked out of winning means you get a lots less "built up" with needing to crush people. That is how I felt. I had no bad games, no bad sportsmanship stuff, and would play everyone again. Good times and I think everyone should think about going. I just hope Shane has AC next year as it was miserable hot (I'm from Texas and no AC is grounds for going after the hotel management).

While I was there I drew on a crap ton of bags. In fact here are the things I drew out for people. If you want one the cost is a flat $25.00 when you meet me at an event and if you want me to draw on one at home - the cost is just $25.00 plus the cost of shipping it to me (so I can ship it back). Grey Knight Strike Squad Test Figure (got a cool idea, going to try it - woohoo!)

That is what my brain is going to do - most likely I will be doing more. I had a hell of a week last week and hopefully this week will be better. I might be traveling again not this weekend but the next - so be prepared for an announcement about that. Thursday I want to explore some Grey Knight list as that is my next goto army for Events.

Heroes of Armageddon Update! # 2

Woohoo - got some Heroes update. This will be quick as I rush off to go to the ATC and Dicehead Siege at 6am this fine morning. My wife is suer happy driving me to the airport haha.

But enough of that - I got an ork Trukk Boy squad done as well as the Trukk. The Warboss is built and primed but I didn't get time to paint him before I left. So without anything else some orks.

Next week will see most likely the Warboss as well as more Boyz for a larger Battle Wagon squad. Fun times indeed. Plus I get to paint other stuff too so look for that with a true update on Monday after I get back late on Sunday. Wish me luck as this weekend I am playing my Goats. It is a team event style thing so I was the one that drew the Wolf straw (I kinda know the army eh?).

I played the Alamo GT and won Overall - there was a scoring issue that got fixed and I ended up on top! Not a bad day for the Grey Knights and it was games 4-8 for them for me. I loved the brick of doom and if you haven't seen the list here it is for the internet to use and abuse.

Here is a basic rundown of the event with the games I played.

RD 1 - Ryan Woodroof - I think that is his last name. He had Wolves - 2 Rune Priests, Wolf Lord with Wolf Claws and Saga of the bear, 3 Grey Hunters, 2 Dreads one with Autocannons and one with Lascannon/Missile Launcher. WG around and a Land Raider.

I won this game with full points. The big thing was rending out his Land Raider with the first 8 shots from a Psycannon. It was just one of those games where I kept the Libbie out of 24 no range and just cast shrouding a lot to keep my guys protected. I moved up and started punching stuff. He did steal the initiative and blow up two rhinos. It was a 5 objective game. Thawn died to the first bolter wound and got back up the next turn. Hooray!

RD 2 - Sam Smith - Shrike with 50 Scouts and 20 terminators. Pedro was there too. Scouts were assault based.

This was going to be a turn 3 game where he was an assault army and I was a mean assault army. I went first and got into combat with guys. I didn't need shrouding at all as he was light on shooting. I just made a corner, killed all the mean things coming in and waited on the termies to hit as I slowly picked them apart. Cleansing flame did some damage as I got assault by two scout squads on one Purifier squad. I got lucky and Sanctuary did some good and kept Shrike from getting into assault. I ended up chasing him off the board and shot him to pieces. A very unlucky match up for Sam as I just had some decent assault mixed with good mid range shooting. 20 pts to me.

RD 3 - Will Ferguson - This is a local guy who I have never played. He was playing razor wolf spam. Some guys, some razorbacks, 15 Long Fangs, 2 rune priests, and 2 Rifle Dreads. This was an annihilation game and it was definitely in my favor.

I walked up to mid range - kept my librarian out of 24 inches, cast shrouding and just went to town with Psycannons. I blew up all the Razorbacks. Thawn died twice this game - once to a lascannon and the other time after he ran across the field and attacked long fangs and died to combat, came back up again and chased them off the board. This was an uphill game for Will and he knew it. It was done in 45 minutes as it was just a shooting gallery as I pumped out shots, cast fortitude and shrouding and just blew things away. Highpoint was when he shot a rhino, it had the 6+ cover save and he penetrated twice. I threw the dice and like a boss rolled double 6's.

16-8 for me

RD 4 - Greg Harris with his old school Grey Knights. He had one of everything almost and the dreaded Storm Raven. This was a 2 objective mission and was looking at a tie with some lucky hood action from myself as well as some random bad rolling to fix a Land Raider I kept rending and immobilizing. He had a Tech marine inside. Crowe almost had the chance to kill a wounded libbie and the Tech marine but failed and died to a servo arm punching him in the Jimmy. I got lucky and took out the storm raven with an assault Purifier and his daemon hammer that was set to 10. I hit twice (needing 6's) and that helped me out. He had a vindicare and I kept it out of range the entire game and using my dreads to just shoot, shoot, and more shoot. Thawn died and got up and walked around. We ended up drawing the main and I got the secondary. Nutty dice rolling of the game, I hit 4 times with a psycannon and rolled 4 rends. I only immbolized the Land Raider dangit!

12 - 8 for me.

RD 5 Russell and his Battle Wagon orks. 3 Objectives. He had 3 BW, Mek, Ghaz, trukks, and some tank bustas. It was a Dawn of War set up and I got extremely lucky with some rending shots. I blew up Ghaz's ride, he fell out with Nobz and I then shot all 12 str 8 shots at them. I shot the termies too and after it all cleared all the nobz were dead and Ghaz had 3 wounds. He ran to the other BW and I proceeded to immoblize them and shoot up the army. Crowe did good this game and killed some orks and ran some down. Round ended on 5 and we drew on everything.

12-12 tie.

So basically I went 4-0-1 for the day and got 2nd overall. I will see what kind of stuff I got for my painting and anything else. All in all a great time with cheap beer, some good food, and some great games.

And to add on - a quick paint for the week. I will be off to ATC thing in Tennessee this next weekend so it will be a slower week then I would want.

I am part of the Heroes of Armageddon build team. In fact I am lucky enough to be the head guy for the Speed Freaks force. I started working on the project this week with some models donated by a local - Patrick aka Rabscutle. I magnetized the rokkits to the top so that if the winner wants to tweak bits of the army later they can easily enough. I know, rokkits are most likely the best option but everyone likes to play what they want to play.

As you can see I went with a more olive color on the ork skin. I just don't really like that bright green as I feel it just looks too clean. These orks are greasy, dirty, and "sun" bleached a bit. I am planning some more updates on this army as it gets built out.

I got some great helpers too. You might recognize these guys from Dakka - Teek and Redbeard are helping out. Here is a small bio from each of them to give you an idea if you don't know them from their armies and random building. To give a little bit about me - I am Goatboy from Bell of Lost Souls and Internet Infamy. I love painting models and run Full of Monkey Painting. I live in Austin, TX and you can find me most Thursday throwing dice and playing a different army every week. I have painted all kinds of armies so you never know what I will throw down with. I like painting Orks and you will see a ton of Orks on this blog.

Michael "Teek" Sullivan: Michael has been playing orks (and orcs, and goblins, and gretchin...) in various forms for the past 15 years. A true greenskin and Mekboy at heart, his armies center around over the top conversions and loud, hot-rod paint jobs. He feels stock models are boring, and if anything can be chopped, dropped, flared, or otherwise modified before hitting the table, it very well should! I go by Redbeard online. I'm a software engineer in Chicago. Been painting minis for 30 years - GW stuff for seven. I won best appearance at Adepticon 2011 with a wazdakka ork army, and my personal ork army tops 20k points (painted). When not gaming, I can be found riding my Harley across the country.

I have some other helpers and will get more info on them. I love orks and this project just sounds so much fun. I am a bit of an Ork biker nut and painting up a bunch of these guys plus trukks just sounds like my idea of a good time. Goatboy - It is Sunday

Goatboy here - I have gotten two games in with my new Grey Knights list. I like it and I have done ok even with rolling really bad. So that means the list works. There are some changes I want to do - but I have to find the points. Crowe has sucked every time I have played him - but again that is my terrible rolling (missing with his go away power and well - not rerolling well hehe). I think I need to find the armies dice. That is what I need to look for. Something matching haha.

I think Warding Staves might make a comeback into my list as well as a full 10 man squad of Purifiers. Will see after the Alamo tournament and how well I do. So much of the time the tournament scene can be so hit or miss based on just how you are rolling that day. And match ups. Lord at Adepticon I would have loved to fought orks - but it was marine, marine, and more marine for me. I should have played my goats haha.

Lately with the GK - hoods suck ass to deal with. Makes the whole - anti psyker bits from the codex look worth wile as you need to kill those assholes before they stop me from killing my justicars with mind meltdowns. Jerks!

Comes out to 1990 pts so each thing has a Searchlight. Basically it is another aggressive list with a stay behind "scoring" unit that can throw out a large blast. Coteaz sits in there too. It also gives me a chance to do some cool modeling too. But it means I need to find another damned Rhino. Bastards!

Lets get with some models and then call it a day. I am tired from working extra this weekend to cover the hole a co worker left when he wasn't happy working anymore. Woohoo.

It's Wednesday - my work Friday

Woohoo!!! Great day as it is my Friday. I have had a kinda slow week. Not a whole lot on the model front but I did do a bunch of art designs for blogs and other options. So all in all a fun time in general. Will post some of the art. Most drawings start at $25.00 and rarely go higher from there. I know people want customer images for their blogs so I keep the cost low. Woohoo!

I am going to be playing my Grey Knights this Thursday to get some more games in before my Alamo GT event. Here is the list I turned in with tweaks that fit what I like to play.

I am also playing a Team Event on Saturday and I will be playing a pure Purifiers list with some Death Wing. It is a 1500 points which is a bit much for a team, but will just play it and see. Basically this is what I plan on throwing down with.

Next week is the first weekly Heroes of Armageddon updates. I will be building the first trukk boy squad to get started on next week. I have some other client Speed Freaks to do too - so it will be an ork fight for the next few weeks heh.

I am also planning some new Grey Knight builds as I look at a Henchmen and more aggressive/less shooty builds. Fun times indeed. In fact I did a test for Rogue Psykers too.

Floating evil brains!!! Hahahah. Should be fun - I am planning on having one squad of 8 with 2 Meltagun jerks to run around with in a rhino. Most likely they will explode and the inside of the rhino looks like some kind of terrible horror show. Fun times indeed.

Woohoo - Sunday time again

Played one game with the Grey Knights so far - it will be up on the BOLS Batrep. I won 9 kill points to 8. I think I only rended twice and it was against SS/TH termies. I did kill them though so good job for the mind bullets haha. List is below and it is what I will be taking to the Alamo in two weeks. It is all painted and hopefully I will get a full army picture sometime next week.

The next tweak is adding in a Inquisitor/Coteaz and some Henchmen. I am working on a test Rogue Psyker so will see if it works out and I can show a picture later on in the week. I will also be looking at some random DreadKnight Builds as well as Paladins and whatever else I think about. I got another box of Termies that I plan on building 4 Sword guys and 1 Ninja Turtle Staff. Just to give me the full range of testing. This is probably going to be my last full army as it is small and I can build every option pretty easily. Unlike the Goats I don't have to build nearly as many models. I think one more Strike Squad build out - 5 guys bare bones is probably needed in case I find Warpquake worth it. And probably a Storm Raven or two.

I did ok paint wise last week. I saw the finish of my Grey Knights as well as the Blood Ravens army. Check out the main site for the full update coming soon. I hope to get another game or two in on Thursday and then of course throw down at the team local tournament with Bushido and his Death Wing. I will be dropping the termies as it is a 1500 pt per side event and that will give me a nice batch of meaty Grey Knights to throw at you.

Not a crazy week but still a good one in general. Lots of small groups which is always good for me.

I will have a full report of the Team Event come next week as well as my Thursday games and the nonsense I try to do. Crowe sucked it up failing 2 4+ saves with a reroll, getting through a hood for his take you out mind spell, and then rolling a 1 to hit the Librarian. This week he will do better damnit as I won't roll bad. I swear!

I also wrote my ATC list which will be a Space Goats list. One of my teammates wanted to play Grey Knights so I am stuck - playing the Goats :). Here is the current build thoughts.

2000 pts and I think I might need to make one or two goats for it. Depending on how many Wolf Guard I have lying around. Either way I think it is a nice overall list that should let me take on whatever I feel like and have the tools to hurt things as needed. Plus it lets me play with Lenny - the Super Goat Lord!!! And look internet - only one Razorback and 10 Long Fangs. Crazy!

I finally drew on my bag. I will have pens when I go to the Alamo and the ATC so if you are around and want something give me a shout. It isn't free but I am easily bribed.

I have been in a busy bee mode. I got a client order to finish and my Grey Knights so I can be ready for next month's tournaments. I am one squad from getting done with Grey Knights (7 Purifiers) and the list will be ready to rock this Thursday for hopefully a video battle report. Woohoo!

I also have 2 more things to paint for the Blood Ravens to get done - after that it is Speed Freaks for a client, CSM for a client, some small stuff, and HEREOS OF ARMAGEDDON stuff! So more Orks. So look for more and more orks coming out of the wood works as I look to get the troops settled with a massed amount of boyz to hit the table top. That is my plan.

In sad news I won't be going to Britain this year. Things didn't pan through but we are shooting for next year. I know disappointing but it is life. It just means I get vacation time again to go to other events. I am looking at trying to hit the Nova this year as well as some other ones around and about. Will see if I can swing the plane ticket and other things. I will be at the Alamo GT this May 14-15th as well as the ATC the weekend after. So if you want some drawing on your bag I will be around there :).

So that is my plans for this week. I had to work Saturday so I am off Wednesday through Saturday this next week. I got a day to spend with the Wife on Wednesday. Woohoo!! Soon it will get to the point here in Texas where I will be swimming more. I didn't do a lot last year and I want to change that this year. Get my fat ass to lose some weight damnit. Haha. I have started running so hopefully it will continue to slowly drop off.

Woot - will see if it works. It is boring looking but it fits with what I want to play - mostly fearless :). I am going to eventually start on the henchmen options after awhile. Will see how it goes.

I did finish my Iron Warriors army too. Woot - was machining through those guys to get this ready to play. I got one game in with Matt and his Black Templar. After a lovely bout of rolling with Sanginour (5 Storm Bolter wounds and 3 1's later the termies are left without anything to do) I took it in the end. Matt missed I think with almost every lascannon. We messed up a rule with a Blood Taloned dreadnought and that probably took the game. We forgot we need to roll for each wound that goes through the storm shield before I get more attacks etc - so there was a chance my Blood Taloned Dreadnought might have not go through another troop choice. Either way it was a good game and I think the army is pretty sound overall. Yes there are 3 of the same Heavy Choice but everything else is "different" in how they are built. Here is the list as is.
