Goatboy - Thursday - Oh Yay!
Goatboy is here - doing whatever he does all the time. Write up weird list and get people mad hah. Tonight I hope to get a demon game in to test out my "true" list that I want to play for Adepticon. I just have to do 2 Blood Crushers and it will be done. In fact I am taking this time to get a really nutty Skulltaker done up to make my army stand out. That's my plan anyway.
I got two list - or thoughts with small tweaks.
Here is the Core of the list.
HQ: Skulltaker, Juggernaut
HQ: Herald of Khorne, Juggernaut, Blessing of the Blood God, Fury of Khorne, Unholy might
Elites: Fiends of Slaanesh X 6, Unholy Might
Elites: Fiends of Slaanesh X 6, Unholy Might
Elites: Blood Crushers of Khorne X 5, Musical Instrument, Chaos Icon, Fury of Khorne
Troops: Horrors of Tzeentch X 5, Bolt of Tzeentch
Troops: Horrors of Tzeentch X 5, Bolt of Tzeentch
Troops: Horrors of Tzeentch X 5, Bolt of Tzeentch
Troops: Horrors of Tzeentch X 5, Bolt of Tzeentch
Troops: Horrors of Tzeentch X 5, Bolt of Tzeentch
Troops: Horrors of Tzeentch X 5, Bolt of Tzeentch
From there I either add in two Heralds with Charoits or without and then either Flesh Hounds with the Upgrade or without.
Option 1
HQ: Herald of Tzeentch, Chariot of Tzeentch, Master of Sorcery, Bolt of Tzeentch
HQ: Herald of Tzeentch, Chariot of Tzeentch, Master of Sorcery, Bolt of Tzeentch
FA: Flesh Hounds of Khorne X 10
Option 2
Drop the Musical Instrument on the Crushers then
HQ: Herald of Tzeentch, Master of Sorcery, Bolt of Tzeentch
HQ: Herald of Tzeentch, Master of Sorcery, Bolt of Tzeentch
FA: Flesh Hounds of Khorne X 10, Upgrade guy
I will test them out to see what feels right if I can get in two games. Most likely the initial upgrade one first and then the Charoit one. It really depends on if I want to create Juicy troop targets or just leave them basic to try and make them less "desirable to shoot at".
Creating bad choices is one of the ways to define a good player from an alright player. It also lets better players beat armies that are better on paper. We all know the math and wonder how these "bad" armies beat the so called math god. This is one of the ways - letting opponents make incorrect mistakes on target priority and mission priority.
I still keep thinking of doing a Thunder Wolf Thunder Dome army. It can be a lot of fun and makes for fast games. Here is a thought - basic barebones everywhere else with the punch of Thunder Wolves. One has more wolves and the other is purposefully tricksy.
Trickster!
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Powerfist, Storm shield, Fenris Wolves X 2, Saga of the Bear
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Frost Blade, Storm shield, Fenris Wolves X 2, Saga of the Warrior Borne
HQ: Canis, Fenris Wolves X 2
HQ: Wolf Priest, Saga of the Hunter
Elites: Wolf Guard X 4, Powerfist X 4, Combi-weapons X 4
Troops: Fenris Wolves X 11
Troops: Grey Hunters X 9, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
Troops: Grey Hunters X 9, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
Troops: Grey Hunters X 9, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
Troops: Grey Hunters X 9, Plasma Gun, Plasma Pistol, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
1850
This is a tricky list - and can do all sorts of fun stuff with DOW and other options by starting the dogs on the table with the Wolf Priest and then attaching and punching things as needed. The drop pods allow me to recreate the table top as needed and do other options. I think it might have merit. It doesn't have "range" but with Drop Pods it can get to you and blow stuff up as needed. Still it is an odd list.
The other one would utilized a Thunder wolf Cav squad to go about the business.
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Powerfist, Storm shield, Wolf Tail Talisman, Fenris Wolves X 2, Saga of the Bear
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Frost Blade, Storm shield, Fenris Wolves X 2, Saga of the Warrior Borne
Elites: WG X 10, Combi-Weapons X 10, Powerfist X 4, Drop Pod
Troops: Grey Hunters X 9, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
Troops: Grey Hunters X 9, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
Troops: Grey Hunters X 9, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
Troops: Grey Hunters X 9, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
FA: Thunder Wolf Cav X 3, Storm Shield X 2, Powerfist X 1
Basic and bare bones at 1830. We could put something nutty on the Wolf Lord with Runic Armor but not sure. If you do that you can drop the Saga of the Warrior Borne.
Still - crazy ideas haha.

Finding 5 pts for the annoyance of the Changeling would probably be worth it
Your non longfang lists have me inspired. Buying up a bunch of space wolves to try it out. Be interested in your experiences if you have time between the daemons and adepticon.
