Goatboy's 40k Thoughts - Resting before the Game a Geddon!

I have decided not to push myself paint wise. I need a bit of a break and this game weekend should do it as I fly off to Rochester. I am currently painting the new Incubi for myself and that is about it. My army is packed, my display board looks cool and I have my nonsense shirts packed too. So hopefully all in all it goes good. Lists are printed and we are ready to go!

I want to throw down some dumb lists for BA I have been thinking about. Of course I have to wait for the Storm Raven as I just don't want to jury rig one up that doesn't fit what comes out etc. Then I wasted whatever nonsense I built for it. Also will post a DE list too. Woohoos!

Blood Angels - 1850 list - I play the Broken Sh$T!

HQ: Librarian, Sanguine Sword, Fear the Darkness
HQ: Librarian, Shield, Unleash Rage
Elites: Furioso Dreadnought, Blood Talons, Extra Armor
Elites: Furioso Dreadnought, Blood Talons, Extra Armor
Elites: Sanguinary Priest X 2, Infernus Pistol X 2, Power Sword X 2
Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Meltagun X 2, Powerfist, Storm Shield, No Jump Packs
Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Meltagun X 2, Powerfist, Storm Shield, No Jump Packs
Troops: Scout Squad X 5, Camo Cloaks, Locator Beacon
Troops: Scout Squad X 5, Camo Cloaks, Locator Beacon
Heavy: Storm Raven, MM, Extra Armor
Heavy: Storm Raven, MM, Extra Armor

So this list is not subtle at all. I am coming down, I am hitting you and hopefully you are crying :). Lots and lots of melta, power weapon, and other nonsense coming at you. Hide the scouts, go to ground for a 2+ cover save and then land your flying jerks down and do some business. Will it work? Who the hell knows it just does look so easy that a caveman can play it :).

Dark Eldar nonsense too.

Well I would have shown something but I left my codex at home. Damnit! - It would have been incubi and some other bits and pieces. I think 2 Reaver Jetbike small - don't pay attention to me squads and some other nonsense too. It was brewing in my head and now it is going to have to wait. Me hates forgettin books!

I think there is a lot of talk about MSU and all that nonsense. I use MSU to create units that die after getting paid attention too. Lets say you have a squad that can put out some hurt right? It can do something and then die for all your care. You design it with enough staying power that more then one opponent unit needs to pay attention to it. IE turbo boost cover save, or cover save in general. Then this opponent, instead of paying attention to what will punch them in the gonades instead pays attention to this POS that is designed to do one thing and then get thrown away like all the garbage we eat.

I think the power in armies come from the fact that you can throw away parts and the army as a whole still works. It is a thought and it is one of the things I work into any of my armies. I don't need x unit to survive (well at least one troop heh). Just food for thought. Might work its way into a BOLS article.

Ok will post DE tomorrow. I swears!

I found it! - I R dumbz!!! New DE List Thoughts

HQ: Archon, Shadow FIeld, Agoniser, Combat Drugs, Phantasm Grenade Launcher - 115pts
HQ: Haemonculus X 3, Webway Portal, Venom Blades X 3 - 200pts
Elites: Incubi X 10, Klaivex, Murderous Assault - 245pts
Troops: Kabalite Warriors X 20, Dark Lance X 2 - 230pts
Troops: Kabalite Warriors X 20, Dark Lance X 2 - 230pts
Troops: Kabalite Warror X 5, Blaster, Sybarite, Blast Pistol, Venom, Splinter Cannon - 145pts
Troops: Kabalite Warror X 5, Blaster, Sybarite, Blast Pistol, Venom, Splinter Cannon - 145pts
Troops: Kabalite Warror X 5, Blaster, Sybarite, Blast Pistol, Venom, Splinter Cannon - 145pts
FA: Reaver Jetbike X 3, Heat Lance - 78pts
FA: Reaver Jetbike X 3, Heat Lance - 78pts
Heavy: Ravager, Flickerfield - 115pts
Heavy: Ravager, Flickerfield - 115pts

So yeah - I am coming at you. I might need another portal - but with Incubi having fleet they should get out and hurt someone. One Haem is attached first - just to give them FNP. The two warrior squads that are fat have Haem' attached to them too.

WIll it work? Who the hell knows. It will look cool as hell.

BA list looks good overall. Here are my thoughts:

Infantry + BT Furioso + Stormraven = Very Killy !!!

On the Librarians - I run one. He is an Epistolary and his two psychic powers are Sanguine Sword and Unleash Rage. Of course he is attached to a unit with a Priest in tow for Furious Charge. Against armies with anti psykerwarez you can count on one power going off - you don't know which one it'll be but either is pretty damn good. I believe if one is blocked then he can attempt to cast juicing the force weapon to insta gib a multi wound model. These two powers are my favorite combination. I highly recommend them together. Versus opponent sans anti psykerwarez he is gonna crush their face.

Seeing your assault squads are sans jump packs double melts is probably the best way to go but I'll say I am really liking melta/flamer and I think this will be good versus dark eldarz . I like having some jump infantry to DoA and blast threats to my Stormravens. You have to protect them so that they can do their job ! I usually start mine in reserve for the alphastrike when they come in - that way they are helping protect themselves.

Dark eldarz im just learning so I don't really have much to say. I do think it's possible WWP armies will be competitive and maybe they will actually work best versus mech. I think you'll want some units that can fleet and carry haywire nades. Beastmaster units will also work well versus mech and you can play the crazy wound allocation games with them... My only misgivings is the lack of models from GW for this unit. Im not excited enough to have the desire to make conversions as yet. Some of my veteran gaming buddies love them though and can't say enough good things. Haemnocli will prolly be a staple unit for dark eldarz - too bad they aren't an elite choice. : ( There are just too many other HQ units I want to play - like the Lelith/Succubus combo !!

Peace bro & best of luck to yee up in Rochester ! Here's to hoping you and Nick bring back the gold !!

Or bring back more models haha.

The issue at hand is I don't want to convert Storm Ravens so I will have to wait on any Goat Angel craziness I can think up.

Same with the DE - which is a sham really. Oh well will see what kind of nonsense I can work up without some specific model designs.

You have your archon costed as 115pts... he is more like 145, im assuming a typo :D.

Thomas aka Goatboy said...

Typo - the phantasm grenade launcher is off of him etc - as the Incubi have grenades

Lets see - 60 + 10 (Combat) + 20 (Agoniser) + 30 (Shadowfield) = 120 - so 5 points off damnit hah.

I don't think you can just drop your jump packs, don't you have to buy a dedicated transport to leave them behind?

Thomas aka Goatboy said...

I don't have the codex with me - but I think you can drop them if you want. They are just an assault squad like a marine assault squad, which lets you drop the Jump pack if you want.

Sorry but Incubi dont have any plasma grenades. Seems like an oversight. Let me knows if imma missing anything.
