New list I just wrote up

For Ard boyz. Bored as usual. The whole hopla about AC has made many lists kinda... well not as fun depending on where you are playing. Just saying, anyone going to San Antonio to play, I feel for you versus good ole Brandon and his AC list. We figured out a Daemon list that would probably give it problems.

HQ: Bloodthirster, Unholy Might,
Pts: 270
HQ: Skarbrand
Pts: 300
Troops: Plaguebearers (15)
Pts: 225 X 2 = 450
Elites: Fiends of Slaanesh (5), Unholy Might
Pts: 160 X 2 = 320
Elites: Flamers of Tzeentch (9)
Pts: 315
Heavy: DP, Iron Hide, Wings, M. Tzeentch, Bolt of Tzeentch, Breath of Chaos, Unholy Might
Pts: 280 X 3 = 840

Total: 2495
Kill points: 10 Scoring: 2 (EEP!!!)

That should do a good number on AC. Lots of can't kill em in one hit dudes, and a ton of 4+ inv saves. Beyond that you have a ton of ways to kill vehicles, with 2 Str 8 + 2d6 guys who can reroll misses if they are near each other. Behind that pretty much everyone has a 4+ save in some way or another. The huge squad of Flamers will be great for eating whole troop squads as well as the Fiends hitting anything with 24 Str 5 rending attacks and 6 Str 5 rending attacks. Does this list look viable at all? I think it only works at 2500 points but I can almost have this list hehe. I guess I have to wait for the new plastic Daemon Princes as well as reput together a thirster model and find some representation of Skarzbrand. Or wait for his model. But hell, any list with 12 breaths of Chaos has got to make troop squads piss their pants haha.

Oh, new ork mental list.

HQ: Warboss, Bike, Cybork Body, Power Klaw, Attack Squig
Pts: 150 X 2 = 300
Troops: Nobz (10), Bikes, Power Klaws (5), Combi Skorchas (2), Painboy, Waagh Banner, Bosspole, Cybork Armor
Pts: 655 X 2 = 1310
Troops: Shoota Boyz (20), Rokkits (2), Nob, Power Klaw
Pts: 175 X 3 = 525
Heavy: Battlewagon, Big Shoota (2), Deff Rolla
Pts: 120 X 3 = 360

Pts: 2495
Kill points: 10 Scoring: 5 (Woot!!)

Snikrot has been sucking lately, so screw that mess, time to mess around. All 3 squads with Battlewagons of doom running around, shooting shit and blowing up other fun stuff. Lots of bullets will be coming out of those wagons if need be hehe.

Fun times eh?

Meh.

I'm running 7 LR.

Bring the fucking AC on, bitches.

I think your list is a bit off for versus AC, but my question is....why iron hide + mark of tzeentch versus battlecannons? lol

How about this instead?

2xBloodthirsters /w Unholy Might.
3x8 Bloodcrushers w/Icon.
3x10 Plaguebearers w/Icon.
3xSoulgrinders.

This way everything kills your foe in CC, except the Plaguebearers who just sit back and laugh on an objective. Let them shoot you with battlecannons. All it is to them is a poisoned weapon. Sure, you wound on 2+. I get my 5+ and my 4+. What else ya got?

Bloodcrushers smash tanks. 4 attacks each, 32 attacks...S6 versus armor 10? Yes please!
Bloodthirsters are MC and smash tanks easily.
So do the Soulgrinders. S10? 5 attacks? Fleet? lol Soul Grinders while easy to hit with a battlecannon are not easy to stop with one. Drop, fleet. Next turn, move, fleet, assault. Icons make them very dangerous. Since AC have zero melta options that will get past the crushers...the question isn't will you win, it's how many tanks can you kill before the game ends? lol

Was it you who asked how to make a deadly demon army for the ard boyz, cost means nothing? lol Hmmm probably not...

The list is also put together not to just smash AC but to be able to take on horde and other lists. So I had to create it to be a bit more all encompassing. Also a smart tank player can just blast you with a ton of Heavy Bolter fire, and a 3+ versus a 4+ will help you survive that. I know, I've lost DP's to just bolter fire versus any other heavy weapon fire.

I don't like Soul Crushers due to the fact they can only move 12 inches total. So an opponent can just play smart, and just move away. The list I showed has more then enough ways to get at any tank with almost the entire armies 12 inch base move in some way.

Soul grinders are neat, but they die pretty easily. Instead of your DP surviving the one blast and coming at you or hell saving versus it, the Soul Grinder can explode to heavy weapons fire. I've found DP's to work a lot better in the heavy slot. Soul Grinders can work great, but every game I have played versus them, I've easily dealt with it, via some form of heavy weapon, or just sacrificing some dudes with a powerfist/klaw to smash it down. And the BS on them suck, so a str 10 blast will be terrible as is. I have 2, 1 painted the other ready to go, and hell I might try em out later on as I finish up other daemons (Blood Thirster, Bloodletters, etc).

I like the fiends, because they have a threat range of up to 24 (Fleet, 12 inch charge), have str 5 attacks that rend, and charge with 6 of them. One dude/chick can even have str 6. That gives you a great chance of popping any butt armor of 10, or 11 for demolishers. And you can have them pop down in hiding and just rush out. Same with Flamers. 9 glances can do a good job of blowing something up, plus give you a nice shot at taking out troops squads.

I like Bloodcrushers, but they are really slow. I do think some kind of base Plague Bearer as troops and mixed with other things works the best for Daemons.

And yes, 7 LR can do a good job versus AC. The list everyone is running, is running anti tank rounds, so any hit will most likely penetrate. Chaos LR might do better with Daemonic possession ignoring the majority of the effects, but who knows. I might run the Daemon list I posted since i have all the flamers, I just need to borrow 2 thirsters and Fiends. Here come the spawn boxes heh.

All good points, I can't really refute 'em. :)

I'm not that worried about AC with 11 tanks versus my 7 LR.

I can put 3 on each side of the map and zap side armor all day.

If I remember right, those AC shells only come on the elite tanks and they have to roll BS4 to hit, right?

Without AP1, it's just a straight die roll on the chart...I can take my chances.

Thomas aka Goatboy said...

You are right, BS4 and they reroll any roll of a 1 if I remember correctly. If they hit, most likely they will go through the armor, but you are only looking at 3, so one should miss, and hell a lot of those rolls on the pen table are not terrible depending on how you kit out your LR.

And You have enough Lascannons that should do damage. If you roll bad, you roll bad and there isn't much you can say on that hehe.

I am going to work up some fiends out of spawn and see how they go. I think they are a pretty tough unit, mixed in with some insane movement to allow them to become a quick nuisance.

Sweet. So I don't know what our plans are for Friday yet, but I hope I can get a game in against your demons with my demonhunters. Not like anybody local has been willing (the few that actually play demons).

Hahah, I will always throw down. Hell if I lose, that is life in my books haha. Hopefully we can get lucky and throw down. It would be fun and will see if the Daemon Hunters can really hunt and kill daemons hahah.
