Goatboy - Some 40k thoughts and other random bits
As you know myself, Brent from Strictly Average, and Nick aka Darkwynn will be heading to the Da Boyz GT in November. The ticket has been bought, the plane tickets have been purchased, and I think I have two armies I want to bring. Both got a nice score on their comp scoring system - at least over a 60 and I think both are alright. A bit cobbled together - but with comp looking the way it is - going with different weapons to do the same job works a lot of the time.
So the question is - which one do you think is better?
Space Wolves - Random Bike Army and Friends?
HQ: Wolf Lord, Bike, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Saga of the Bear
HQ: Wolf Priest, Bike, Runic Armor
HQ: Rune Priest, Bike, Chooser of the Slain, Murderous Hurricane, Living Lightning
Elite: Wolf Scouts X 5, Meltagun, Mark of The Wolfen
Elite: Wolf Guard X 5
Wolf Guard, Power Armor, Power Weapon - BloodClaws
Wolf Guard, Power Armor, Power Weapon - GreyHunters
Wolf Guard, Power Armor, Bike, Power Weapon - SwiftClaw Bikers
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor, Cyclone ML - Long Fangs
Wolf Guard, Power Armor, Mark of the Wolfen - Wolf Scouts
Troops: Grey Hunters X 8, Flamer, Mark of the Wolfen, Power Weapon, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun X 2, Mark of the Wolfen, Power Weapon, Drop Pod
Troops: BloodClaws X 9, Power Weapon, Rhino
FA: Swiftclaw Bikers X 4, Meltagun, Power Weapon, Attack Bike, Multi-Melta
FA: Land Speeder, Typhoon ML
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, Heavy Bolter X 3, Missile Launcher X 2
Or this one for CSM - A Fabius Bile Army
HQ: Fabius Bile
HQ: Chaoslord, Daemonic Weapon
Troops: Plague Marines X 5, Meltagun X 2, Rhino
Troops: CSM X 10, Meltagun X 2, Mark of Khorne, Bile Upgrade, Asp Champ, Powerfist, Rhino
Troops: CSM X 10, Meltagun X 2, Mark of Khorne, Bile Upgrade, Asp Champ, Powerfist, Rhino
Troops: CSM X 10, Flamer X 2, Mark of Slaanesh, Bile Upgrade, Asp Champ, Power Weapon, Rhino
Troops: CSM X 10, Flamer X 2, Mark of Slaanesh, Bile Upgrade, Asp Champ, Power Weapon, Rhino
Heavy: Obliterators X 3
So the thoughts are - what list do you think I should bring? The Fabius Bile army will be a new build out as I would need to make a bunch of the models. In fact I've already finished one squad of Bile Mark Or Khorne Marines. They are based off a Black Ork model from Fantasy with some extra bits and other pieces to give them this fat ass jerk like Chaos Marine. The Bile Mark of Slaanesh marines will be worked on in a week or so. I think the army has merit as it is a dark horse build. Will see.
The Space Wolves/Goats army is kinda my signature army too - and most likely a better overall design/build over Bile as there is less a random chance to have my guys eat it to whatever nonsense Bile gave them before the game began. I don't know. I have faith in both lists so I just have to figure out which one would work better for me.
Other thoughts - shit I am going to be painting me some Dark Eldar when they come in. If people are interested shoot me an email for costs on painting up your army. I plan on grabbing some to do some tests for people in the coming months. That way I can get a better idea on shortcuts to finishing an army and other cool bits and pieces.
Finish this off with some stuff I finished for an overseas client. Fun stuff indeed. I really like painting Chaos.

The worst thing is I played an old army
Found it fun and the build and design was very rushed, so the desire to redo it is very high in my mind. In fact I did two test minis to see if I liked where my brain was going. Which I do. Argh!!! Time to figure out costs and see if it is feasible to make an army I already have into a cooler looking army. If I wasn't a stickly for not selling armies of my own, I would look at dumping off my old CSM stuff to see about funding this. But I don't wanna get rid of my models! Argh.
In other news, Daemons are done. I made 3 objectives and this army is finished. Beyond that I want to finish 5 Wolf Scouts to complete my Goats once again. From there I think it is just client work.
Current to do list
Finish Raptor/Possessed Conversions on 7 models
Build/Paint Sorcerer for the above army
Finish off 35 Hormagaunts to complete this Tyranid army
Probably yell at myself for completely the full test units for the CSM army test.
Hang out as much as I can with the Wife.
This weekend I will be seeing the Black Crowes with my wife. She loves them thus I go along. I like some of the songs but for the most part they are not my cup of tea. I like from the White Stripes style music down to weird combination with smashing two different songs together like GirlTalk and the 2 Many DJ's remix cds. Lately I have been into the Black Keys a lot too. Good ass shit.
Oh for shits and giggles the army I want to remake. My Fabius Bile CSM list
HQ: Fabius Bile
Troops: Plague Marines X 5, Meltagun X 2, Asp Champ, Powerfist, Combi-Melta, Rhino
Troops: CSM X 10, Meltagun X 2, Mark of Khorne, Asp Champ, Powerfist, Combi-Melta, Rhino
Troops: CSM X 10, Flamer X 2, Mark of Khorne, Asp Champ, Powerfist, Rhino
Troops: CSM X 10, Meltagun x 2, Mark of Slaanesh, Asp Champ, Power Weapon, Rhino
Troops: CSM X 10, Flamer X 2, Mark of Slaanesh, Asp Champ, Power Weapon, Rhino
Heavy: Obliterators X 2
Heavy: Obliterators X 2
1850 pts
And here is another Da Boyz GT thought list.
HQ: Wolf Lord, Bike, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Saga of the Bear, Wolf Tail Necklace, Runic Armor
HQ: Wolf Priest, Bike, Runic Armor
HQ: Rune Priest, Chooser of the Slain, Murderous Hurricane, Living Lightning
Elites: Wolf Scouts X 5, Mark of the Wolfen, Meltagun
Elites: Wolf Guard X 5
Wolf Guard, Power Armor, Power Weapon - Grey Hunters Squad 1
Wolf Guard, Power Armor, Power fist - Blood Claws
Wolf Guard, Power Armor, Power Weapon, Bike - Swift Claw Bike Squad
Wolf Guard, Power Armor, Mark of the Wolfen - Wolf Scouts
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor, Cyclone ML - Long Fangs
Troops: Grey Hunters X 8, Flamer, Mark of the Wolfen, Power Weapon, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun, Mark of the Wolfen, Power Weapon, Drop Pod

FA: Speeder, Typhoon Missile Launcher
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, ML X 2, HB X 3
1850 on the nose again. A big ole pile of random stuff. I zoom zoom zoom all over the board. :). It is fun to play though as it is kinda random with cool things happening all the time. Like me losing haha.
Anyway fun times - here are those test minis. Better pics later. The Red guy has more flesh showing and will show case on a full picture etc.

So I had to go to work today
Covering for a coworker + wanted extra cash so the trip to Rochester isn't as bitting on my checkbook as need be. So I get a 6 day work week - woohoo. The 6 days will mean I will get some paint stuff done for sure. Unless something goes crazy at work. Will see.
Week plans for painting -
4 Zerkers (2 Asp Champs/2 Plasma Pistols)
2 Spawns for Fantasy
10 RPG Figures
5 Wolf Scouts (conversion)
10 Rapters - at least the build portion
That is what I want to do - will see if I can get it done and maybe more. Will see. Oh cool pic of something I did 2 weeks ago - Chaos Warhound. No airbrush (don't have one yet) - The customer is going to send me a reaver to do too. Woot.
I have some goofy art ideas I will be throwing around in the next week. Some humor towards 40k - will see if they materialize into more fun stuff too. It all depends on how well they work out as I draw them. I did play 3 games this weekend. One versus Dark Angels, Tied versus Footdar, and Tied versus Chaos. I played a SM bike list for the first two and a Chaos Daemon list for the last one. I am on the fence between Daemon Princes and Soul Grinders. If there is just one LR then I can normally ignore it - if there are two it could be an issue and thus the need Grinders.
Bike army was 3 Bike squads, 1 command squad, Captain, Librarian, 2 Iron Clads, 2 Typhoon Speeders, and a 2 Squad of Land Speeder with MM/HF. Not the best list but fun enough. I played for fun with the Footdar as I knew I could just keep over 24 inches away and kill 2 squads and win the KP game. I rolled so bad it was funny. 7 2+ saves I called I would fail 3 and 3 I did fail :). If only I could win by rolling 1's :).
I will post up some list thoughts - and other randomness later on this week. Just wanted to say hello.

Goatboy - Finished Daemons - what next to work on?
Well I try to work on stuff that isn't the same as client stuff. It makes it easier to "rest" by doing my own things at times. Thus the Daemons this time around. Plus I wanted to finish up the army to mess around with as I feel it will give me a lot more exciting play options. And you know I can't say no to plastic miniatures :).
I will probably make some more Horrors and maybe some Bloodletters. I have a squad of 10 already made, so I might just use them. I did finish my crushers and I will add some picks at the end. Woot - they were cool models much easier to deal with then the metal ones.
The next army I might work on is Orkbots. A Meganob inspired army that should be fun. I already have some pieces made, so it isn't a hard thing to finish off. I will use some of my current orks in there, as painting more shoota boyz is just not something I want to do :). Either way it should be fun. Who knows how good it will be.
2000 pt list - Orkbots!!!
HQ: Ork Warboss, Mega Armor, Bosspole, Attack Squigg, Cybork Body
HQ: Big Mek, Cybork, Kustom Force Field, Burna, Attack Squigg, Bosspole, Eavy Armor
Elites: Meganobz (5), Trukk, Rokkit Launcha
Elites: Meganobz (5), Trukk, Rokkit Launcha
Troops: Meganobz (5), Trukk, Rokkit Launcha
Troops: Boyz (20), Shootas, Nob, Bosspole, Power Klaw
Troops: Boyz (20), Shootas, Nob, Bosspole, Power Klaw
Troops: Deff Dread, 2 X CCW, Grot Riggas, Xtra Armor
FA: Deff Kopta, Rokkits, Buzzsaw
FA: Deff Kopta, Rokkits, Buzzsaw
Heavy: Killa Kans X 3, Rokkits X 3
Heavy: BattleWagon, Deff Rolla, Big Shoota X 2, Red Paint, Grot Riggas
Heavy: BattleWagon, Deff Rolla, Big Shoota X 2, Red Paint, Grot Riggas
So I need to create more Mega Nobz and other fun bits for the army but it should be fun. It will give me another game option. Will see when I will finish it as the Daemons will keep me busy for awhile :).
This week it is raining so the paint schedule will be lighter, just means more crazy lists most likely as I get bored and turn on Army Builder.

Goatboy's Tournament BatRep
Alright so me and Darkwynn played in a Team tournament this weekend. 1500 pts per side, no abilities able to help the other, super smash em fest. We had 5 teams show up so it wasn't a big event (there was an Island of Blood tournament too). Darkwynn played BA and it was Sanguinor, Assault Squad, Sanguinary Guard, Librarian, Sang Priest, Tact Squad and a Missile Launcher Devastator squad. Not a huge army, but more of a surgical style army.
I had the Daemons I talked about the day before. They were the, we can die and life is ok army. So overall not a terrible grouping as we had 3 "We hold Objective units" and could have the rest of both armies just get to work doing what they do best. Killin'
Round 1 - VP mission - Versus Matt & Paul - Ultramarines & Massed Tank IG
Paul had some Leman Russ squadrons and a few batches of guys. Matt had some Marines in rhinos and other fun pieces. We got the first turn and started to parking lot the army. My preferred wave came in (2 Fiends, 1 Herald, 1 DP, 1 Seekers) and I went to work being annoying with all my jerks. We basically just came down in waves and kept the guys stuck in their deployment zone. MVP of the match went to a Herald of Tzeentch who with his mighty Str of 4 touch out a 2 Tank Squadron of Leman Russes. They didn't move, I rolled 3 6's and then rolled a 6 for each tank to Immobilize it. He then died to 3 Bolt pistol wounds but he still went back home bragging about how much of a bad ass he was.
20-0 for us.
Round 2 - 5 Objectives - Josh and Will - Blood Angels and Space Wolves
Josh had Meph, LRR, Scouts, 5 Man Assault squad, and 3 Dreadnoughts while Will had a LR, Logan, Some WG termies, Long Fangs, Grey Hunters, and a Rune Priest. This games MVP was the Sanguinor as he punched out Meph in combat. A lot of my stuff ate it right away but the fiends pull it through the Wolf Guard Termies and Logan. A tight game that came down to use pushing a flank hard and crunching our way through it.
20-0 for us.
Round 3 - Kingsley and Frank with CSM and Khan Marines
Frank had a DP of Khorne, Lash Sorcerer, 3 Squads of Zerkers while Kings had Khan, Assault Termies, Rhinos with guys, Thunder Fire cannon too, and a LRR. This was a 5 Objective mission and we killed all but the LRR. We got 2 objectives to 0. We control each side pretty well and Frank had some crap rolling on his part. The fiends would work as good meat shields and help hurt the Zerkers when they charged in as we both had Initiative 5 and Strength 5.
17-3 for us.
We ended up getting first and took home some Beastmen and a box of Ravenors for our Saturday. I think next time I will add in the Blood Crushers unit as I think 15 Fiends is just too much for some armies to deal with. The Crusher mix will give me another Icon as well as some ways to hide some Heralds of Khorne in there to make for a cool unit. Future list later on this week.
In two weeks I will be buying my plane ticket for Da Boyz GT that is coming in November. It should be fun and I plan on bringing some Daemons to rend the reality of the world :).

Goatboy - Team Tournament at Dragon's Lair this Weekend
To keep me from going crazy with the lack of plastic model throw down, I am playing in a team tournament this Saturday at Dragon's Lair this weekend with Darkwynn and his purple Blood Angels. I was going to play a Space Goats lists but have decided to throw caution in the win and just go with my new Daemons army I have painted up. Will see how it goes as it really is all about just doing the one big, huge assault.
Each army is 1500 pts with no abilities being able to be passed between players.
HQ: Herald of Tzeentch, Chariot of Tzeentch, Bolt of Tzeentch, Master of Sorcery, Breath of Chaos
HQ: Herald of Tzeentch, Charoit of Tzeentch, Bolt of Tzeentch, Master of Sorcery, Breath of Chaos
Elites: Fiends of Slaanesh X 5, Unholy Might
Elites: Fiends of Slaanesh X 5, Unholy Might
Elites: Fiends of Slaanesh X 5, Unholy Might
Troops: Plaguebearers X 5
Troops: Plaguebearers X 5
Troops: Plaguebearers X 5
FA: Seekers of Slaanesh X 10, Icon of Chaos
Heavy: Daemon Prince, Mark of Tzeentch, Daemonic Gaze, Bolt of Tzeentch, Soul Devourer
Heavy: Daemon Prince, Mark of Tzeentch, Daemonic Gaze, Bolt of Tzeentch, Soul Devourer
Woot - will see if the sticky touch of Slaanesh can bring a victory for us. If not I will just die a lot hehe. Either way it should be fun. I have 2 boxes of Blood Crushers to build as well as one more Daemon Prince to finish out all the wacky options I want to do. As usual, I just keep building and building on an army throughout my "play" time with it. I have ideas for my Space Goats, more Wolf Scout build outs so that will be something I will come back to in a month or so.
We have Adepticon thoughts coming up as well as Da Boyz GT that will be heading up too. The Boyz GT is a comp system, so I am not sure what I will end up bringing. I want to do Daemons, but don't know if I can fit something together that I feel gives me the full range of generalship I want out of it. The options can be somewhat limiting in Daemons, thus giving the feel of Spam that a lot of people don't always like. Plus Daemons can just crush people at times too, making it a hit or miss type of army. Will see as the time gets closer. I could always bring my Space Goats and create a Highlander style list too. Those are pretty fun and give me all kinds of options to do fun stuff.
I also want to play a huge Dreadnought list, but need to get some Dakka Dreads made. Plus I would want to grab some FW dreads too, which are all things that cost a bit much right now hah. But I can always dream.
Next year I want to make some more tournaments. Will see how the Vegas thing goes too. We hope for the best, but will see. I think it depends on the type of tournament it is. Will see.
What do you want me to talk about next? Do you want some painting thoughts? Army list thoughts? Thoughts?
