Goatboy's 40k Thoughts: Iron Halo GT Rundown

Woot - played in an event this past weekend in Bartlesville, OK.  I had a blast, won 5 games out of 6 and ended up getting 1st Overall.  Not to bad eh?  Matt Root had more points but was Best General with the highest Battle points and going 6-0.  But still - it kicked butt to "win" an event with paint/score/sports/etc.

Army I took - Flying Circus 2.0
Tetrad
DP, MoK, Wings, Flyer Ace, Greater X 2, Lesser X 1, Armor of Scorn
DP, MoN, Wings, Greater Gift, Exalted Gift, Lvl 3
DP, MoS, Wings, Greater Gift X 2, Lesser Gift, Lvl 3
DP, MoT, Wings, Greater Gift X 2, Lesser Gift, Lvl 3, Impossible Robe - Warlord

Fate
The Masque
Nurglings X 3 - 3 Units

Game 1 VS  Tyler and his Blood Angels force
Mission - Emperor's Will, Dawn of War, ITC Maelstrom (Hold 1, Hold 2, Scoring in Enemy, Destroy, Destroy, 3 and no enemy in deployment), Big Game Hunter, Linebreaker, Slay the Warlord
Tyler's army was a bunch of Blood Angels, Land Raider, Knight, Sang Priest, some tactical, Terminators, Storm Raven, and a terminator captain.  Overall my army was a bit much and I quickly overwhelmed him with psychics and big monsters getting close.  The MoK DP took out the Knight and that ended a lot of the threat.  I won this one 11-0.
MC Deaths - None!

Game 2 VS Chase with KDK/Cabal/Cypher combo
Mission - The Relic, Hammer and Anvil, ITC Maelstrom (Hold 1, Hold 2, Scoring in Enemy, Destroy, Destroy, 3 and no enemy in deployment), First Strike, Table Quarters, Slay the Warlord
Chase's army was a bit unconventional KDK dog star as it ran Sorcerers with Jump Packs.  He had a Lvl 4 caster with the one Black Legion Relic.  He almost got my Warlord when he scouted and pushed up and throw out a Pyromancy Nova.  I took a wound and the Warlord rolled a 10 on Leadership.  I called the power of Fateweaver and saved his butt.  From there Chase lost that important spell caster due to taking a Perils from the Nova and then dying to a dangerous terrain check.  The luck went south again for Chase when my Masque lived through 10 str 6+ shots to slow down his star for 3 turns.  I won this one 7-2.
MC Deaths - None!

Game 3 VS David with his Tau
Mission - Purge the Alien, Vanguard Strike, ITC Maelstrom (Hold 1, Hold 2, Hold 3, Scoring farther then 12", Have scoring within 12" of enemy deployment edge, 3 Scoring in your zone none in enemy), Slay the Warlord, King of the Hill, First Strike
David is a buddy and he stole the initiative on me.  He had a ton of Pathfinders, a Riptide, and a Ghostkeel formation.  Plus he had some other missiles coming at me.  Lucky for me - I rolled the shit roll on my DP's - every one had 4+ FNP and I got the +1 to my Inv save Warlord trait.  This mean my Khorne DP took half the armies shooting and only took a 1 and my Slaanesh one took 2 wounds.  From there I flew away from the Ghost Keels - took out some Pathfinders with lucky Shrieks and won the game - barely.  David ended up beating me by 1 point in the ITC rankings but I got more ITC points as I won more games initially.  I won 6-5 (Primary, Slay the Warlord, and Line breaker).
MC Deaths - Riptide for him - all my jerks were still alive.

Game 4 VS Lee and his Flying Tyrannies
Mission - The Scouring, Hammer and Anvil, ITC Maelstrom (Hold 1, Hold 2, Hold 3, Destroy, Destroy, Destroy), Big Game Hunter, Linebreaker, Slay the Warlord
Lee had a great 5 Tyrant army.  We set up to dance and I got lucky surviving some Shrieks from him and then taking out some Tyrants with Enfeeble and the Dildo prince.  I took out a few with some rough vector strikes as well.  I ended up killing all but some spore minds and a Mawloc on the other side.  He killed the Nurgle Prince in the end to take Big Game hunter as all my monsters are expensive jerks.  I won 10-2.
MC Deaths - Fateweaver - Turn 2! and Nurgle DP.  5 Tyrants, the other flyer thing from Nids, and a Mawloc

Game 5 VS Cody and his Daemonic Incursion based Tzeentch
Mission - Big Guns Never Tire, Vanguard Strike, ITC Maelstrom (Hold 1 in Enemy, Hold 2 in Enemy, Hold 1 in your zone, Hold 2 in your zone, Destroy, Destroy), Ground Control, Linebreaker, Slay the Warlord
Cody had a ton of daemons, Fate, DP, and Belakor.  He took the Tzeentch core, some furies and then all the big stuff.  He had more psychic dice, better ground control and I was not very lucky with my own Maelstrom rolls.  This meant I was down by turn 2 even though I had killed the DP and Belakor by then.  I ended up killing Fateweaver too but he had 2 objectives on lock down and I was stuck trying to catch up.  Awesome game - great guy, and it was nice playing 2 really well done armies versus each other.  I lost 5-8.
MC Deaths - His Fate, DP of Tzeentch with Robe (griming your enemy is great), Bel'akor

Game 6 VS Andrew and his GK with IG formation
Mission - Crusade, Dawn of War, ITC Maelstrom (Hold 1, Hold 2, Destroy, Destroy, Scoring in enemy zone, 3 in your own zone)
Andrew had 3 DK, some artillery and a Void Shield.  I won the roll to go first, he didn't seize and I got in the air.  By that time he couldn't do much to me and I flew around and blew things up when I got within the Void Shield bubble.  I had more psychic dice and Andrew just had crap luck.  He threw 7 dice for Cleansing flame - didn't pass it at all.  He tried it a few more times and I stopped it then - but never threw a perils from it.  I just flew around and ground him out.  The 3 DK were still alive at the end of the game versus rough MC's that would punt them as soon as they landed.  I ended up winning this game and finished the event 5-1.  I won 8-3.

There was a bit of a mix up in the points at the end and I was told after the event I was actually 2nd overall in scores and thus First Overall as Matt Root took home Best General.  Something like that - either way I was on the podium and I did well for once in an event.  I had a great time - played rad people and will plan on coming back again.  Jason threw a great event and I am very happy to have gotten a chance to play in it.

If I had to change anything in my list - I would have dropped some Nurglings for some Pink Horrors. One squad would have given me a summoning group an I could have just thrown dice to maybe make a Blood Thirster or two.

Paint List
Lots of Marines... good guys and bad guys.  Plus a BOLS article.  Hopefully more after this weekend with pics and stuff.

Some models and other stuff.

Goatboys... Ah Crap - Wednesday

Sorry for the late post.  I got busy yesterday - wife got in a small wreck so we had to be at the hospital for 4 hrs to make sure the baby was good.  Everything was fine - looks like the car is going to get put in to get fixed and maybe will swap out cars and not be too under.  Will see how it goes.  Going to try to do stuff with it on Friday - as I have the day off (anniversary) and well - it would be nice to get it done.

I'm sad I won't be at Nova this year.  Too close to the kiddo coming out and the wife really wanted me to be home.  So I stay.  I am glad too as this wreck thing could have been bad.  If I did go I would have played some kind of knight thing with summoning or Knight plus something else.  I just enjoy the knights so far and hopefully will get more games.  In fact - my last week was spent trying to get the final Nurgle Knight done for a buddy to borrow for Nova.  Will see how it goes for him - hopefully pretty good.

Let's get my paint list down and then see where we go.

Me
Article - maybe a more idea piece again - or thought piece - will see
Lots of art to do actually - want to see if I can knock out a few pieces this weekend as I have Monday off.
Beyond that - plan some more stuff for my Wolf Armageddon list - so maybe paint a model.

Luis P
Some more Flesh Tearer Marines - probably a batch of 10 more

Tim V
I have 10 more regular marines plus 4 rhinos to paint for this initial first batch - then we got some knights coming in and more biker guys - plus a combo Biker Libbie on bike.

Don S
Some Warmachine stuff

Anthony
Some CSM stuff to get done by October

Will Whit
More CSM stuff

Caleb
NecroOrks - the commission started up with a fury this last week - look for some more big stuff coming.  They are looking cool as hell too.

Greg S
I got a LRC to figure out - and some AM/IG stuff to get done so he can get started with his GK again.  Really cleaning them up for the Inquisition

Travis
Cryx! I got 10 Mechanithralls built tonight - they will get some paint on them this weekend.  Plus the Weird Cryx horse guys - I have 3 more to build - will see how much I yell at them.

I have this plus house stuff too - we need to get more Baby things and deal with the car.  Yay!  And I need to get someone to finish the stairs for me.  Ugh been a pain in the ass to find someone.

Ok - so onto lists - this is where I am leaning when I get bits in to create my ThunderGoats.  I have some ideas on ways to get it to look right and not be an issue when figuring out what model does what.

Champs Formation that has Elites over Troops etc
HQ: Wolf Priest, Bike, Runic Armor, Meltabomb
Elites: Iron Priest, Thunder Wolf, Cyber Wolves X 4
Elites: Iron Priest, Thunder Wolf, Cyber Wolves X 4
Elites: Iron Priest, Thunder Wolf, Cyber Wolves X 4
Elites: Iron Priest, Thunder Wolf, Cyber Wolves X 4
FA: Thunder Wolf Cavalry X 5, PF X 2, Wolf Claw X 2, SS X 5

Knight Errant

LoTD Formation
LoTD X 5, Multi-Melta, Meltagun
LoTD X 5, Multi-Melta, Meltagun

This army gives no F's.  It is coming in hard and fast - plus it can get the knight fixed up pretty easily.  The Knight won't be shooting much as he just runs with the bulls/dogs/goats/etc.  The LoTD are there to get Wave Serpents and be annoying in general.  You have to deal with them as they fall down.  I could look at an Assassin too - so it is another idea.  But shit - this list has no casting cuz it don't need it.

Ok - what most people like - models and art.

NecroOrk Destroyer Lord

Some Destroyers

Anni Barge eh?

Its the face that I like.

I magnetized the gun - just in case.

Check out my ass!

It's that over shoulder shot - looking worried out the window as it rains.

More pew pew!

I got some bullets and Jump Pack guys - might be what will see in that Online SM game.
The logo thingie.

Mr. Tyrant!

No one takes his snacks!

Oh crap someone farted!

He just wants to give a sensual back massage.
LVO's Logo for next year.  A shirt and everything will be there too!

Wednesday List Ideas?

I got some list ideas so I figured I would plop them out like some kind of turn monger.  TURDS! Blah - will start with where I am at for Adepticon.  I don't expect myself to get to day 2 due to the nature of me not wanting to play Deathstar and most likely people playing Deathstar crap.  Probably go 3-1 as usual and just have to deal with it.  Meh!

They are not allowing Bel'Akor which is total crap.  They will let all this other stuff in but one dataslate is too I guess hard.  Meh!  I blame Reese hehe.  Still will see it all change in the coming months I am sure.  They can't ban Codex: Knights in your Face so that might make people less likely to bring these expensive units.  I will laugh when my fat Chainsword eats a Warlork or two.

Let's start with Daemons and go from there.

Right now basic FMC/I Have it already painted.

HQ: Fateweaver
HQ: DP, MoS, Wings, Armor, Lvl 3, Greater Gift X 2
Troops: Daemonettes X 18, Aluress
Troops: Daemonettes X 18, Aluress
Troops: Daemonettes X 18, Aluress
Heavy: DP, MoT, Wings, Armor, Lvl 3, Exalted Gift, Greater Gift
Heavy: DP, MoT, Wings, Armor, Lvl 3, Exalted Gift, Greater Gift

1841 on the nose.  This is basic - no Fiend tricks plus a ton of troops that can kill the big stuff.  When the Knights come into play we might see big squads of Plague Bearers.  Interesting stuff to think about.

If I don't play this I could throw this out there - playing Ballsy.

HQ: LoC, Lvl 3, Exalted Gift, Greater Gift
HQ: LoC, Lvl 3, Greater Gift X 2, Lesser Gift
Troops: Daemonettes X 20, Aluress
Troops: Daemonettes X 20, Aluress
Troops: Daemonettes X 20, Aluress
FA: Screamers of Tzeentch X 7
Heavy: Soul Grinder, MoS, Baleful Torrent
Heavy: Soul Grinder, MoS, Baleful Torrent
Heavy: Soul Grinder, MoS, Baleful Torrent

I have this painted too. - I could add in 5 fiends instead of the screamers - but think the screamers might be more helpful to get around the board.  Plus it doesn't have Fate so I can be like - Fate is for babies!

Aluress's are there to hopefully help vs the Warpstorm nonsense.

I can run MoS princes too as gun boats but enh...

From this point I am thinking of Knight lists too.  I got another one to do for a client then will see if he sends me another to do.  Then I can think of my own.  I am thinking of playing them for Alamo so will see.  I got some ideas to try and use them.

Basic Knight Start

HQ: Knight Paladin
Troops: Knight Errant X 2
1115 pts - leaves me 735 to use and abuse.  First list was using the Inquisition.

Inquisition

HQ: Coteaz
HQ: Xenos Inquisitor, Rad Grenades, Psychotroke Grenades, Psyker, Servo Skulls X 2
Troops: Warrior Acolytes X 3, Razorback, TWL Ass Cannon, Psybolt
Troops: Warrior Acolytes X 3, Razorback, TWL Ass Cannon, Psybolt
Troops: Death Cult Assassins X 3, Crusaders X 3, Minostrium Priest, LRC, Psybolt, Multi-Melta

Seems basic - has some Anti air potential with all the Str 7 TWL nonsense.  I have a lot of this painted too - and can make the radical Inq army/Mechanicus with this?  It is an idea and seems neat enough with a get away from me punch to the junk.

Space Wolves

HQ: Rune Priest, Terminator Armor, Chooser of the Slain, JaWs, Living Lightning
Elites: Wolf Guard Pack
4 - Wolf Guard, Power Armor, Combi-Melta
1 - Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor, Cyclone ML
Drop pod
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Plasma Gun X 2, Wolf Standard, Mark of the Wulfen, Plasma Pistol, Drop Pod
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, ML X 5, Drop Pod

This one is the "good" one.  It should work - be aggressive and cover the bases I need.  The Anti Air is weak but ML is about the best I can do.  Prescience will help to deal with it and the Term Armor means I can take some flamer crap from Dragons and hopefully survive.

This one is stupid but makes me laugh.

HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Runic Armor, Saga of the Bear, Storm Shield, Powerfist
HQ: Canis, Fenris Wolves X 2
Troops: Fenris Wolves X 13
Fortification: Vengeance Battery, TWL Lascannon bit

Yeah this needs Stronghold parts to work - but this would be awesome.  2 Knights plus a ton of dogs coming at you bro.  Man... probably drop a dog to maybe up the BS on the Vengeance batteries?  Hehehe - suck it!

Space Marines/Clan Raccoon

HQ: Chapter Master, Art Armor, The Gorgon's Chain, Thunder Hammer, Auspex, Digital Weapons
Troops: Bike Squad X 8, Grav Gun X 2, Combi-Grav, Attack Bike, MM
FA: Storm Talon, Sky Hammer Missiles
Heavy: Hunter

This one is basic, simple, and gets your marines to run around the table top.  I do wonder if you could remove the Storm Talon for some Tech Marines to fix your guys hehe.  Or remove the Hunter.

Meh so yeah these are just ideas for nonsense like I normally do.

Man I wish Chaos Space Marines could ally with the Knights.  I am sure most would just be 3 Knights, DP, Cultists and a Dragon haha.

But ok - that is it for brewing for now.

Goatboy - Friday Post

It helps that my work schedule is bunk this week.  The next few days I have to work 1-11pm which is poops.  But hey I get more time to write up crap and do some art in the mornings. Woohoo!  Finished one commission, have one more model to do another and then it is starting on more stuff!  Yay!

Ok let's look at the current work list.

Me.
Figure out list - Decided to go with Goats.  Eff it so I ordered more heads to make other stuff.  Woohoo!
Plastic Dudesmen - Done and Uploaded.
Frontline Art - Only thing left is the Night Lords
Rob Daemon - Working on a big grouping of art to make one big banner.  I got parts done.
Lamb Art - Finished it maybe?  Just sent it off this morning.

Luis
10 Flesh Tearers Tact Marines - Primed
1 Dreadnought - Done!
Mephiston is Done!

Zach
4 Other guys for the Test guy above - Need to Build!
2 Mortars - Need to get from FW - it is shipped
Vendetta - Need FW upgrade kit - it is shipped
Manticore - Need to get from Frontline! it is shipped

Will
Lot done! - 10 Flesh Hounds, 2 DP's, 1 Fate!

Don
4 Heralds of Tzeentch on Disc - 3 Done! Other is primed!
2 Heralds of Tzeentch on Foot - Done!
Art for shirt - Soon!  Probably next week.

Travis
Huge Cryx Army - box in - Weekend plan - first batch to get done on Saturday most likely

John G

9 Plague Drones - Box just came in! - Will be starting on it next week.

So yeah that is where I am at so far.  Paint wise I punched out 5 dogs, 1 Herald on Disc, and Mephiston on Wednesday.  Boss mode achieved eh?

Current Marine Idea list.  Not sure if it works - need to read up on how the Storm Raven drops guys off and what the timing is on Inceptor etc.  As the controlling player you should be able to control the end turn right?  Come in - see if they decide to intercept then drop off?  Meh… timing shit.  Should just be like magic but nooooes…

Current Marine/Goats List idea.

Iron Hands Man - White Scars Ally

HQ: Chapter Master, Bike, Art Armor, Shield Eternal, Powerfist
HQ: Chapter Master, Bike, Art Armor, Storm Shield, Powerfist
HQ: White Scars Chaplain, Bike
Troops: Bike Squad X 8, Grav Gun X 2
Troops: Scouts X 10, Camo cloaks, Sniper Rifles X 5
Troops: WS - Tactical Squad X 10
Heavy: Centurions X 3, Grav Cannons X 3
Heavy: Thunderfire Cannon
Heavy: Storm Raven, Hurricane Bolters
Heavy: WS Storm Raven, Hurricane Bolters

So Centurions go in one Raven and give you a way to drop them off when they come in and kill stuff.  The Chaplain means I most likely won't die the first turn with everyone shooting at bikes.  Scouts hide and the Thunderfire hides as well.  The WS tactical rides in one raven to give me some movement as needed.  The super Bikes go punch stuff or so that is the hope.  Meh it means I need to make a Thunderfire and get Centurions.  But it does go fast!  And it is small and neat looking.  GOATS!

I am also looking at this as a redux of just a daemon list not trying for tricks.

HQ: Lord of Change, Greater Gift X 2, Lesser Gift, Lvl 3
HQ: Herald of Tzeentch, Exalted Gift, Locus of Conjuration, Lvl 3
HQ: Herald of Tzeentch, Locus of Conjuration, Lvl 3
HQ: Herald of Khorne, Greater Gift X 1, Lesser Gift X 1, Locus of Wrath
HQ: Herald of Khorne, Greater Gift X 1, Lesser Gift X 1, Locus of Wrarth
Troops: Pink Horrors X 18, Iri Dude
Troops: Pink Horrors X 18, Iri Dude
Troops: Plague Bearers X 10
Troops: Plague Bearers X 10
FA: Flesh Hounds of Khorne X 14
FA: Flesh Hounds of Khorne X 14

Basic and simple - maybe it works?  LR's will suck butt.

Ok paint stuff and art.

Woot! Hehe.

Left over bits of Necrons!

Don't ask me.

Client asked for the Derp IG as a Marine of America - heh.
One of the most hated units in the game - number 3!

Remember when he was scary?

Doggies!!!

Goatboy - Late Monday

I was sick all last week and my paint day was messed up by a bad outage at work.  It made it hard to get as much done as I wanted too.  I do have some models done - and more to do before Adepticon.  I am waiting on some Plague Drones to finish it off and get ready.  Hell here is the list that seems to look interesting to me - plus it will be fast and fun to play.

HQ: Bloodthirster, Exalted Gift, Greater Gift
HQ: Keeper of Secrets, Greater Gift X 2, Lvl 3 Psyker
Troops: Plague Bearers X 10
Troops: Plague Bearers X 10
FA: Plague Drones X 5, Plague Bringer, Greater Gift
Heavy: Daemon Prince, MoS, Armor, Lvl 2 Psyker, Greater Gift X 2
Heavy: Daemon Prince, MoS, Armor, Wings, Lvl 2 Psyker, Greater Gift X 2
Heavy: Daemon Prince, MoS, Armor, Wings, Lvl 2 Psyker, Greater Gift X 2

That looks like what I wrote up - the Exalted gift on the Thirster is to get the Portalglpyh which you will see down below.  I figured throwing out Pink Horror squads will mean I got some small little jerks that either get the Beam or 2d6 shots that are a pain in the butt.  Plus I can easily fly with this.  Woohoo!  And I only need paint Plague Drones!  Woohoo - and shit I need to get my Adepticon Team army done.  Lord.

I swear this Adepticon feels a bit off due to my buddy Nick just not really into 40k.  It doesn't help and it just makes my nonsense just seem mean.  Oh well - I will have to just move on - see if I survive and then maybe get lucky and have a nice Friday to draw on bags haha.

Here is a paint list as well

Me
Plastic Dudesmen - Need to get something done - probably work on another one too as I am out for Adepticon
Daemon Prince - Done!
15 Seekers - Maybe?? I have 5 Primed.

Luis
Black Knights X 3 - Primed
Nephillim Fighter - Done!
5 Scouts - Done!
5 more Ultramarine guys - 4 primed - waiting on shoulder pads for the last

Chris
More Cryx stuff if I have time

I will probably get some Tau soon too.  Fun times!

If I don't get the Drones in time I will then play this other list that is a bit meaner but still fun.  Will work out the Points but it will have that converted Dragon.  Blargh - I do wonder if a Demon/Typhus bomb might be the best - but I already played Typhus in an event and I am known to constantly change my army.  F practice I just roll 6's!

Some models to check out to finish this off too.

The Portal!  Greenstuff, Nid claws, and a plastic airsoft pellet I cut a groove out of.  It is pulling out of the ground to spit out some Horror

Dakkadakka!

This Dread had some wonky damage on the back - so I made it one of my DP's - he is armored for sure and the way I have it set up each are named with and idea of how they are etc - easy to play with.

Scouts???

More thinkings!!! And probably some lists

How many have played with the Marine horder? Fitting as many 3+ armor saving, scoring, Jerk Faces into one list? I am thinking that it might be a great option in the field of Razorback Spam and just in general anti mech spam that is out there. If you have 60 guys on the table, that is pretty scary to deal with. So the question is, what Marine army makes for the best horde?

Lets start with the Smurfs -

Troops: 10 Marines, Meltagun, Missile Launcher, Power Fist, Combi-Melta, Rhino/Droppod - 245pts

Benefits - You can split into 2 5 man squads and instead of a rhino go with a Razorback with two melta options coming out of it. You get lots of bolter shots too and as well as a long range heavy weapon. Combat tactics can be annoying to deal with, as you obviously don't want to shoot the marines and have them get out of assault range. Their rhinos are bigger so adding an HQ means you don't lose access to the heavy weapon.

Cons - The fist might not be needed as depending on what you will use this army for they might just be better off as small speed bumps. They are not an assault force as obviously if they get charged they will only have one attack.

Cost to horde with full 6 squads - 1320 (minus fist) - 1470 (for the above set up). This leaves you with either a small amount of room for HQ or a nice amount depending on the size of your game. Most likely 4 full squads might be a better option to give you more room for Heavies and HQ's.

HQ options that are neat. Calgar is pretty scary in a horde marine list. Letting your guys stick in combat during your turn and getting out during the next is a great benefit. Also with the mass amount of Leadership effecting mind bullets out there, being immune is pretty sweet. Also look at it this way, getting rid of one set of rolls for the game is pretty good to limit the amount of bad rolling that might screw you.

My thoughts Marine Horde list

HQ: Calgar, Bad Ass Armor- 265pts
HQ: Librarian, Terminator Armor, Storm Shield, Gate of Infinity, Null Zone - 140pts
Elites: Terminators X 10, Cyclone ML X 2 - 460pts
Troops: Marine Squad X 10, Meltagun, Combi Melta, Missile Launcher, Rhino - 220pts
Troops: Marine Squad X 10, Meltagun, Combi Melta, Missile Launcher, Rhino - 220pts
Troops: Marine Squad X 10, Meltagun, Combi Melta, Missile Launcher, Rhino - 220pts
Troops: Marine Squad X 10, Meltagun, Combi Melta, Missile Launcher, Drop pod, Locater Beacon - 230pts
FA: Land Speeder, Typhoon ML - 90pts
FA: Land Speeder, Typhoon ML - 90pts
FA: Land Speeder, MM - 60pts

That sits right at 1995. You got 40 marines to score and run around. You got a nutty middle Ground Unit in that big squad of Terminators. I don't see much of anyone wanting to mess with them. You have lots and lots of Missile flying around as well as some melta here and there. Will the list work? I don't know it is just a thought on a way to do a Smurf Marine Horde army.

Lets look at the next one Space Wolves.

Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun X 2, MoW, Rhino - 205pts

Pros: You get a bolter, ccw, and a bolt pistol as well as counter attack. This means you can safely jump out, bolter the crap out of someone and then most likely get your extra attack as they charge in. 3 attacks a piece on the charge is pretty spicy and many an ork has met the end of my Chainsword as I charged in. Mix that with two special weapon options and you got a really effective cheap unit.

Cons - Leadership 8 sucks. As does not getting a true sergeant in the list. Also the lack of a heavy weapon means that the Razorback becomes an interesting option, but with the lack of combat squading means you will have to make a smaller and less effective squad.

Here are my thoughts on a Horde Space Wolves list

HQ: Logan - 275pts
Troops: Wolf Guard Squad X 10, Terminators X 10, TH/SS X 4, CF/SS X 1, Cyclone ML X 2 - 540pts
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun X 2, Power Weapon, MoW, Rhino - 220pts
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun X 2, Power Weapon, MoW, Rhino - 220pts
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Flamer X 2, Power Weapon, MoW, Rhino - 215pts
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun X 2, Drop Pod - 190pts
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Flamer X 2, Rop Pod - 185pts
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, ML X 5

So this is a nutty horde of guys on the table. You have 60 scoring units on the table with probably one of the hardest units to deal with in the game, Logan Wing. They hit the center of the board and just control it the entire game, as your Grey Hunters move around the table to deal with things. The only issue is that I worry you have less chance to reach out and deal with someone, thus the two Drop pods. You still have a lot of Long Range firepower and a nice amount of melta as needed. Plus you have some good assault elements too.

Last lets look at the new boys on the block, the Glittery Space Vampires of doom the Blood Angels.

Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Remove Jump Packs, Meltagun X 2, Infernus Pistol, Power Weapon, Rhino - 255pts
Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Meltagun X 2, Infernus Pistol, Power Fist - 250pts

I went ahead and went with both as they are still two good options to look at in the horde Marine army.

Pros - Without jump packs you get a cheap, fast Rhino. They could sometimes get furious charge and have options to get FNP and Furious Charge too. They get 3 attacks on the charge and options for 2 good special weapons with a third option on the Sergeant. They get a Sergeant too.

Cons - They really need to charge when trying to do anything. If they don't get the charge, they become easy to bog down and deal with. The discount for dropping jump packs creates a long range fight style army that has some issues as they are extremely a glass hammer when dealing with their troop once their box pops open. Their special ability really doesn't come into play that often and if it does, hopefully the 1's won't happen later in the game.

Two horde builds, one mech one not obviously.

HQ: Sanguinor - 275pts
Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Remove Jump Packs, Meltagun X 2, Infernus Pistol, Power Weapon, Rhino - 255pts

Yeah I know a super character in the HQ, but with a massed amount of guys, he can be pretty nutty for all of them, providing extra attacks. You need the ML thus all the Typhoons in this list.

So here is an army that doesn't start on the table and can hit anywhere. The Typhoons are needed, as you will sometimes just need to hurt someone from far away. The only worry about this army, is that you drop all in, and then get shot to pieces. It is an all or nothing type of build, but it could be a lot of fun to mess around with. The amount of Melta is rather insane with the squads dropping with 4 shots and then if they get a Blood Lance off too.

So yeah, there are the 3 new marine build horde styled armies. I have a feeling any future Marine books will have a similar horde feel to them too.

Heavy: Predator, Hvy Bolter sponsons

That sits aright at 2500 pts.

None of that insane marine TH/SS termies crap just bikes and some dudes. I do have 2 drop pod dreads, which some people seem to hate on. They are the shorter range ones, which means melta will eat them pretty dang good. Of course unless someone just rolls bad. Which isn't the dreadnoughts fault.

But will see - it should be fun. Lots of fast, fragile units. And I get to play my poor painted predators that never come out.

Paint wise I finished up all the troops for a clients IG army. It is the purple and white guys. I also finished Big Red's Khador Warmachine army too. Fun times there. I plan on doing my Cryx up in the next 2 months and have an army I can lose with as I learn the game. Fun times. I am also working on a big Nurgle Baneblade Pus Cannon tank for a client too. I am not painting it, just making the dang thing. Look for pics next week as i get more into it. I got a lot to do. From there, I am waiting on a batch of nids to come in so I can start on them for a client too. Fun times indeed.

Alright pics of new stuff - the rest of the flying biker Nobz should get worked on in a week or two. I need to get all the parts together to make this crazy unit. Plus I painted up a test Myceptic Sport for the Nid army I am planning for a later build in Spring.

If you like this, I can make more for anyone interested. Shoot me an email at GoatboyBOLS@gmail.com

Alright that is it for now - I will write about my new WoC list I want to play with. Something fun.

Goatboy with some painting stuff

I painted a bunch of stuff this week. In fact I hit everything I wanted to do and then a bit more. So all in all a good week. I am waiting on 10 more Elysiums for Luis from Spain to finish up. Once those are done and my other painter finishes his Storm Troopers, this IG army will be completely finished. It was a huge one and from here I move onto a biker army for Luis as well as a future CSM army too.

Look for some Nids to pop up here too, as I have a bunch of stuff for a new nid client coming in. It is going to be a co paint job by JWolf and I so it should go very quickly as I get started on it. I am doing the bigger stuff while Jon does all the little jerks. I also have a new Warmachine order coming in too. So more and more of those guys. I plan on painting up a Cyrx army myself so that will also show up here too.

As usual, if anyone is interesting in having me or my group of painters paint something, shoot me an email.

Now some stuff and at the end my team tournament list.

These are for myself. I just wanted to make some new Nob bikerz and warboss. The front guns and fist are from the Khador plastic jack from Warmachine.

My Cyrx Slayer Helljack. Went with a red glow to give the idea that it is fed on blood.

This is Big Red's next Jack. I will be painting up some more infantry too.

This is the second to last batch of Elysiums for Luis.

More Daemons for Bushido Red Panda. He didn't have time to bust these out so I did it for him.

Beyond this I painted some more purple and white guys and just got a lot of things finished. More Orks will be coming as well as some other nonsense I am sure too.

Current Team List for this Weekend. JWolf is playing an Alrahiem list for IG (spelling?) and I am playing Khan.

HQ: Khan, Moondraken
Troops: Bike Squad (5), Flamer X 2, Attack Bike, MultiMelta
Troops: Bike Squad (5), Flamer, Meltagun, Attack Bike, MultiMelta
Troops: Bike Squad (5), Plasma Gun X 2, Attack Bike, MultiMelta
Elites: Ironclad Dreadnought, Drop Pod
Elites: Ironclad Dreadnought, Drop Pod

The list should be fun, and I get to play with my Dreadnoughts. Those guys are always little jerks. Not a very strong army, as normally a regular Captain on a bike is better then Khan, but this one should be fun. If he can kill something Big then he gets a big high five.
