Some minis I have been painting

First, the first Eldar figure. The forces idea is that originally this strike force had an Avatar, but after fighting with a Slaneesh force, the avatar was consumed by a Greater Demon of Slaneesh. The Eldar force, in-tuned with the Avatar, rushed to go save it and is thus lost in the folds of the warp. Should be fun to paint up, but here is the first Banshee test as they are getting influenced and burned by Chaos.

Next we have the new obliterators I have been working on. I don't like the metal ones for a few reasons.
1. I hate metal models
2. They look like they are all taking dumps on their bases
3. They cost way too much $

So instead, I converted some terminators. Hooray green stuff and random bits. They are 9 total, and here are the last 3 I worked up. GW Metal ones $22*9=198, Terminators + green stuff and bits = 100+12+0=112!!! Savings!!! Hooray!!! Anyway onto the minis.

Bunch of lists

Here are my tournament lists that I plan on throwing down with in some upcoming tournaments. Of course, seeing as how I am constantly fiddlin with crap, they might change bit by bit, but here are some things I want to play in the upcoming tournaments.

First Chaos. I normally play Chaos, due to the fact that the army is fully painted, and it is one of the few armies I feel I have chance versus most of anything. And it is pretty easy to create a fluff and a heavy list as needed.

First, new thought on a Heavy List. This is most likely what I will be playing in the gladiator tournament at Adepticon. It will probably get stomped, as I am not fielding anything crazy, but hell I am sure I will have fun. And it means I need to create some obliterators.

HQ: Demon Prince, Mark of Slaneesh, Wings, Lash of Submission
Pts: 155 X 2
Elites: Chosen Squad (10), Icon of Khorne, Meltagun X 2, Power Fist X3, Asp Champ
Pts: 315
Troops: Noise Marines (10), Blastmaster, Sonic Blaster (9), Asp Champ, Power Weapon, Meltabomb
Pts: 320 X 2
Fast Attack: Raptors (10), Plasma Pistol 2, Mark of Khorne, Asp Champ, Power Fist
Pts: 300
Heavy: Obliterators (2)
Pts: 150 X 3

Troops: 48, scoring 9
Thoughts on changes, taking out marks of Khorne and rearranging some things to get 9 oblits. Taking out Chosen and just using Raptors as the quick attack unit or counter assault.

Hobby Tournament list

HQ: Demon Prince, Mark of Slaneesh, Lash of Submission, Wings
Pts: 155
HQ: Chaos Lord, Mark of Slaneesh, Daemon Weapon, Meltabombs
Pts: 140
Elites: Chosen (9), Mark of Slaneesh, Plasma Gun (3), Power Weapon (2), Asp Champ, Meltabomb
Pts: 272
Troops: Noise Marines (10), Blastmaster, Sonic Blaster (9), Asp Champ, Power Weapon, Meltabomb
Pts: 320 X 2
Heavy: Obliterators (2)
Pts: 150
Heavy: Land Raider, Dem possession
Pts: 240
Heavy: Defiler, 2 Xtra close combat
Pts: 150
Fast Attack: Raptors (10), Mark of Chaos, Asp Champ, Power Fist
Pts: 250

Troops: 45 Scoring: 8
A tweak on my Heavy list, with more emphasis on Slaneesh, with one Chaos undivided squad. This list should be fun, but I can see first turns, Defilers eatin it pretty good. But hell you get to kill a pink army. Lord rides with the Chosen in the pink Land Raider. Hooray!!!

Orks: First heavy list I want to play in tournies and then my fun list I want to create.

HQ: Ghaz da destroya of dreams
Pts: 225
HQ: Weirdboy, Warphead
Pts: 85
Troops: Shoota boyz (30), Rokkit Launchas (3), Nob, Power Klaw
Pts: 245 x 2
Troops: Slugga Boyz (30), Rokkit Launchas (3), Nob, Power Klaw
Pts: 245 x 2
Troops: Trukk Boyz (12), Rokkit Launcha, Nob, Power Klaw, Trukk, Red Paint
Pts: 157
Fast Attack: Stormboyz (12), Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole
Pts: 184 X 3

Troops: 170 Scoring: 8
Chances for first turn assaults is pretty gross with this army. The thought, is to have a constant wave of assaulting green skins. The stormboyz squads are there to get a guaranteed second turn of assault. In there is chance for a first turn on top of that too. 12 inch +d6 move, if the weirdboy gets a waagh first turn, that is another +d6, for a total of 30 inch assault basically. Not much can stand a constant wave of doom coming at them, and the 4, 30 ork squads coming down with less fire killing them, can be pretty deadly. I feel this list would wreck Big Bugs, and a lot of other armies will have trouble with such a quick assault.

Orks Hobby List (BIKE ARMY OF DOOM!!!)

HQ: Warboss, Warbike, Cybork Body, Power Klaw, Attack Squig
Pts: 145 X 2
Troops: Nobz (6), Warbikes (6), Power Klaw (5), Painboy, Cybork Body (6), Bosspole
Pts: 460 X 2
Elites: Nobz (5), Warbikes (5), Power Klaw (4), Painboy, Cybork Body (5), Bosspole, Combi Skorcha (2)
Pts:395 X 2

Troops: 24 Scoring: 4
Yeah, this list is just dumb but it will sure be fun. My games will last, like... a few minutes haha. But yeah, it is dumb, but it is orky as hell :).

Tell me what you think of the lists.

Quick post on a chaos army idea

Tell me what you think, BFG eavy list report coming, need to find my camera cord. But onto the list. This would be a heavy list, but I think it could be interesting.

Demon Prince, Mark Slaneesh, Lash, Wings
155 X 2
Chosen (10), Meltaguns *2, Power Fists *3, Mark Khorne, Asp Champ
315
Chosen (10), Plasmaguns *3, Pair Lit Claws *2, Mark Slaneesh, Asp Champ
295
Thousand Sons (7), Asp Sorceror, Bolt of Change
246
Thousand Sons (7), Asp Sorceror, Bolt of Change
246
Noise Marines (10), Sonic Blasters (9), Blastmaster, Asp Champ, Power Weapon
315
Raptors (10), Mark Chaos Undivided, Meltagun *2, Asp Champ, Power Fist
270

Total 1997

Thoughts? Been playing Havoks and I have started to find them lacking. They shoot for a bit, then suck it up and are kinda wasted point wise. Not being able to move and shoot, really hampers them. Thought about obliterators, but have found them lacking too in some ways. I don't like something that costs 75 points and can be sorched by a lascannon pretty easily. That's just me. Will see, will have to test this out.

Been awhile eh? Been busy, animation and art stuff

I haven't had much time to play any 40k at all. Most of the time I get a Formula Waagh!! test on Friday and I end up coming by BFG and just watch all the games going down. I missed the Hobby Tournament for BFG and it looks like I will miss the Ninja Pirate event this coming Sunday. Hooray for Mom's coming down. I can't say no to a free lunch can I hehe?

First of all, initial rule set for Formula Waagh!!!. Click Here!!! for the newest rule set. Things left to do on it. Test more with the items bought, to see if anything is too broken. Of course the special items are pretty powerful, but then the game is pretty locked with ways to stop shooting pretty easily. First up is a roster list in an excel and a pdf format that way people can print out their gangs and go on from there. I also need to create a penetration/glancing table picture to add and some random glyphs etc to it. To make it seem more legit, also a back image and replace the art with my own art, that way I am not stepping on anyone's toes. Anyone reading this, please comment with what you think on it. I am planning on starting races in March and setting up a board or seeing if I can create a jump off point on another board. I think the game works pretty smoothly and it allows a way for people to play a game without much initial investment. And it gives a chance for everyone to have painted models, since you only really need 1.

Beyond all of this, I think I will be able to throw down for the BFG team tournament. I just need a teammate. I got some peeps I need to ask, and I am planning on playing Chaos. I will throw down a list tomorrow to see what peeps think. 1000 pts., woot. I could play Big Bugs, 3 Fexes, 1 Hive Tyrant and some genestealers, but I think I would rather have more fun when I play. I might not depending on my team mate, but I will write down multiple lists.

And beyond all of this I got a game in yesterday. Played Nick from Florida at BFG and had a good time. I know, 40k on Valentine's day. Losers right? Well my girlfriend was working late... (BOO!!!) and Nick's is still in Florida so we aren't that bad haha. I played my Slaneesh/Tzeentch army. With almost everything being Slaneeshie with one Chaos lord who has a Mark of Tzeenth, disc of Tzeenth and a Demon Weapon. Nick had his pathfinders army and it was a very strange game.

We both had some dumb rolls that didn't follow through with the norm of the game. I charged his harlies with my Chaoslord, had 10 attacks with his demon weapon, his harlies put on 1 rending wound, and 2 other wounds. I failed all my saves and died. His massacre roll brought the harlies into range of my havoks, he killed them all, and his massacre roll was a 1. I think moved up some noise marines and shot the pointie ears down like the dancing bitches they are hehe. The game ended up being one havok squad and a noise marine squad left, and Nick having 2 Wraithlords, 1 with 2 wounds on it, the other clean due to being in terrain and making all his cover saves. The coolest thing was the Chosen Aspiring champ surviving for way to long, killing off a guardian squad and then doing a run by and killing his Farseer. Rambo style. My Demon Prince also never failed his Psychic test and pinned 1 large squad of Rangers hehe.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, it was kinda rush game. It was fun as hell and Nick is a great addition to the 40k gaming community in Austin. A solid player with some nicely painted armies.

5th edition is looking pretty interesting, as is the new boxed set for 40k. If all that comes in there, there is no way I won't be buying one. Too much cool stuff, to fit into a box. If it is true, GW has a game winner on their hands and is really giving a lot away to get people involved.

Alright, that is it for now, I am hoping to get into some more tournaments as my work schedule changes. And I need to get more games in damnit. I am looking at going to Adepticon. Hopefully I can make it heh.

Tested out Formula Waagh!!! on Friday

With Robert and Travis and we banged and tweaked out some rules and I think it is going to work out well. I wrote up a new rules list, and if anyone wants to see it shoot me an email. I want to test it out one more time before I post it up to see what people think.

But we ran 4 races in an hour, and it seemed to move pretty quickly once we worked out the kinks in some of my rules thoughts. The ramming rule worked out pretty well and I think it will make for some fun games as you try to push people through and knock people around. We saw some tweaks to the warbuggie, due to it being extremely fast and having a good gun, but I think the changes helped out. I also tweaked the tables to roll as only one, with everything else have a simple roll for what happens. It makes it easier and allows the game to flow pretty quickly. All and all the experiment seems to be working out pretty well and I hope to expose everyone else to Formula Waaagh!!!

If things go well, we will set up a racing league and I will end up running it as a commish. That way any tricks you try to do on opponents can be made sure to happen, and all teef purchases can be legit etc. There are things like purchase grot riggas to cause issues on other drivers vehicles for a race.

But hey, will get it playtested and then will see what people think. Woot woot.

Where have I been?

Well if you know me, I am usually working on some kind of freelance flash or art related stuff. And I have been stuck in that world for a bit, and will probably still be stuck for awhile longer as I finish up some work. Hooray for freelance and money, but boo in the extra time I would like to have to pretend kill some plastic mini's with my plastic grey orkie horde of doom. It is pootastic. But hell, it means I have more money to spend on some fantasy stuff as soon as I finish my orks.

But I haven't been doing nothing GW related. I have been working on a racing game called Formula Waaagh!!! It is based off of some of the Gorka Morka rules, GW new ramming stuff that might be in later, and my own takes on stuff to make things run smoother. But the whole thought on it is that you are running an Ork Race team. You earn teef per race for doing stuff and getting paid from your sponsors. Bikes, Trukks, and Warbuggies all race to try win, or blow up as many opponents as they can. As I finish up the roolz and do some testing, I will post them up on here for anyone to download and try out. I am going for something that is pretty simple in execution, but complex enough to have some depth. The coolest thing is people are moving all at the same time. So you have a good chance of ramming through people and knocking everyone around. You execute drive checks whenever you try to do stuff. A drive check is like a leadership check, and different things can affect it. The type of vehicle, how fast you went, if you took some manic mushrooms, cybork body, etc. You can shoot off the track, get knocked around, and if someone is extremely lucky, blow you up completely. And then you get Teef for that.

Plans are to test on Fridays, and once I get a nice core set of rulez, to build off from there and start a league with a commish to watch stuff and make sure peeps are racin fair. Well as fair as Orks can race. But yeah, that is what I am working on. Painting wise, going to get my weirdboy and my war boss painted. And then boyz and trukks from there. If I get the race stuff going, I will have to get trukks done up.

Orky game I played vs. Eldar

So I played Adam at BFG on Sunday later afternoon. I would have played the Ninja Pirate game, but I had plans for lunch and I did play a tournament on my birthday the last week. So no more tournaments for the month most likely, as I have things to do on Sundays from time to time. I am hoping I can switch some work days for the next BFG tournament, or just take the day off. Will see. It is a hobby tournament, so Chaos will be the army of choice due to the orks not being painted. Too many of those jerks.

But anyway, onto the game.

Adam's Eldar had a farseer, with guide, doom etc. An Auratch dude. Squad of Fire Dragons in a Wave Serpent, 3 other Falcons, 2 Wave Serpents with Dire Avengers. Oh and a squad of Harlies. So lots of flying thingies... which means my Tank Bustas are always going to be shooting at something, and probably not doing anything. Yay!!!

Ok, Adam set up towards one side and I set up on that side and the squad of Harliequins on the edge of some cover, with two squads of Lootas in cover, tank busters towards the back and trucks hidden behind terrain. I got the first roll, and well... did jerky things to his vehicles since they didn't move first turn. I blew up one wave Serpent with the Farseer and a dire Avengers squad. 2 died falling out. I then also got 2 falcons to not being able to shoot. So I did a lot of damage that first turn. Guys moved up I dropped off 2 trukk boyz in front of the Harlies, hoping to get them to assault me, and then swarm them with the second squad after a Waagh. Fun times indeed.

Adam went next, moved all his vehicles away from my jerky Tank bustas, and then tried to fleet out and assault my trukk boyz. Rollin a 1 when you need a 3 for fleet is bad mojo. So his Harlies, fleeted back an inch. His Fire Dragons and Wave Serpent shot the hell out of a trukk boyz squad, but somehow they made their leadership test. Hooray 6!!! That was about it for his shooting, and it was onto my turn.

I called a waagh, assaulted with one full trukk boyz squad into the Harlies, shoot up the dire avengers that were entangled (He made all but one 4+ cover save due to my AP 4 lootas), stunned some other vehicles, my Tank Bustas teleported due to the Weirdboyz power roll. I rolled a total of 6 again with 3 dice. FU farseerer!!! They teleported in front of some Wave Serpents and blew up those bastards again. Hah. Combat, dead harlies, then I consolidated into some Fire Dragons. Woot. My Big Shoota trukks sucked it up over there, and the two other boys moved out seeing as they were not as much of a threat as the 2 large 30 man squads that were moving up the field. Woot. Warboss snuck up and around towards the farseer. Oh lootas shot up more of the dire avengers in the wrecked wave serpent and I killed more.

His turned, he moved around, and dire avengers unloaded on my shoota boyz, all but 5 were left, and again I rolled a 6 for Leadership. Hooray!!! 3 big shoots, a dude, and my pk Nob. I am comin to get you bastards!!! My sluggas were also shot up by the other dire avengers too, and got them down to 13 or so. I don't really count, but enough left to be fearless. Again his falcons moved around, One could shoot, and it did kinda crappy.

The rest of the turns were kinda lame, as I basically shot at more vehicles, took down 1 falcon and killed the rest of the dudes with shooting and some assault.

Now Adam hasn't played his Eldar really at all, and he wants to test them out to find out what style he likes to play. Of course in the new 5th Edition, things will change, but hell assault is going to get a nice kick in the pants and really get better for once. Which might mean that wave serpent rushes might be better. Hell Scorpions might be good too. Same with Banshees. Will see. I think Eldar get hurt pretty bad, and orks just get stronger.

The biggest thing I see with Orks, is that you just don't care how much you lose, you always have more shmos to send to their deaths. It is a Horde Army with some really good shooting. If you hit hehe. And it Assaults well. Not sure about Stormboyz yet. They sound good, but I don't know if they are more effective than lets say a squad of Lootas. I have found Lootas to be pretty damn good. You wound a lot, and hell you can always fail armor saves hehe. As it has been shown with Big Bugs, AP ShmayP.
