Goatboy - It is Sunday

Goatboy here - I have gotten two games in with my new Grey Knights list. I like it and I have done ok even with rolling really bad. So that means the list works. There are some changes I want to do - but I have to find the points. Crowe has sucked every time I have played him - but again that is my terrible rolling (missing with his go away power and well - not rerolling well hehe). I think I need to find the armies dice. That is what I need to look for. Something matching haha.

I think Warding Staves might make a comeback into my list as well as a full 10 man squad of Purifiers. Will see after the Alamo tournament and how well I do. So much of the time the tournament scene can be so hit or miss based on just how you are rolling that day. And match ups. Lord at Adepticon I would have loved to fought orks - but it was marine, marine, and more marine for me. I should have played my goats haha.

Lately with the GK - hoods suck ass to deal with. Makes the whole - anti psyker bits from the codex look worth wile as you need to kill those assholes before they stop me from killing my justicars with mind meltdowns. Jerks!

Comes out to 1990 pts so each thing has a Searchlight. Basically it is another aggressive list with a stay behind "scoring" unit that can throw out a large blast. Coteaz sits in there too. It also gives me a chance to do some cool modeling too. But it means I need to find another damned Rhino. Bastards!

Lets get with some models and then call it a day. I am tired from working extra this weekend to cover the hole a co worker left when he wasn't happy working anymore. Woohoo.

It's Wednesday - my work Friday

Woohoo!!! Great day as it is my Friday. I have had a kinda slow week. Not a whole lot on the model front but I did do a bunch of art designs for blogs and other options. So all in all a fun time in general. Will post some of the art. Most drawings start at $25.00 and rarely go higher from there. I know people want customer images for their blogs so I keep the cost low. Woohoo!

I am going to be playing my Grey Knights this Thursday to get some more games in before my Alamo GT event. Here is the list I turned in with tweaks that fit what I like to play.

That is the 2000 pt plan list and most likely the initial shell I plan on using. Thawn is in there because Grey Knights are not about anything under a 100 pts. Or hell 150pts. So I had to do something. Plus I can count how many times the jerk dies in a game :).

I am also playing a Team Event on Saturday and I will be playing a pure Purifiers list with some Death Wing. It is a 1500 points which is a bit much for a team, but will just play it and see. Basically this is what I plan on throwing down with.

Next week is the first weekly Heroes of Armageddon updates. I will be building the first trukk boy squad to get started on next week. I have some other client Speed Freaks to do too - so it will be an ork fight for the next few weeks heh.

I am also planning some new Grey Knight builds as I look at a Henchmen and more aggressive/less shooty builds. Fun times indeed. In fact I did a test for Rogue Psykers too.



Floating evil brains!!! Hahahah. Should be fun - I am planning on having one squad of 8 with 2 Meltagun jerks to run around with in a rhino. Most likely they will explode and the inside of the rhino looks like some kind of terrible horror show. Fun times indeed.

Feeling a bit Better

But still not 100% awesome. But that is life in the allergy capital of Texas. Woohoo love that Cedar. So this post is just a quick update of what I'm thinking of doing this week. I would be doing more but currently waiting on projects to get built, have the paint fall off, or just get my brain in the right mindset. Will post some lists for some counts as armies I got brewing in my head. I have been doing some hazard lines on my Word Bearers so it is making me want to do a Iron Warriors build that has lots and lots of robots. Either it means a Marine build out or Blood Angels build out. The idea of fully robot guys who are the "death" company sounds pretty dang cool. Crazy kill robots :). Mix that with some Assault Cannon dreads and we might get a cool - super firepower idea. No Blood Chalice stuff as it just doesn't fit - so it might be a regular marine army. In fact I bet that will just be a cooler look too as it isn't one of the new "IT" books. Thoughts on that? Will write up some lists as I just think the army with massed dreads will look neat. Still might have to be BA - but will see.

Oh in an upcoming BOLS video I finally win a game. Woohoo - Daemons VS. IG. I took an unoptimized Daemon lists (Look at Brent's Strictly Average for what I feel is the best) and still beat up on an meh IG list from the Crazy Red Prat- prat - funny hat wearing dudes.

I played a game versus Big Red. He hadn't played Space Wolves yet and I wanted to take a mean build to throw at him to see how he would survive. He did a few mistakes and I won in the end. As usual I used my Wolf Lords on Juggers to keep him tied up as my Grey Hunters just got into business and caused some shenanigans. It is how a lot of my lists play. A unit keeps you busy for 3 turns as all the other pieces get into position to deal with the survivors. It works out pretty well as you expect your big fat unit to die - makes you play a little more aggressive which can put your opponent off. It also makes them forget the objectives a lot of the time.

So I get 4 Psuedo Wolf Lords to run around and lots of guys to get up and get business done when it is all said and done. It is pretty much a very aggressive list design to put some pain out as need be. I don't know how well it will do versus DE- most likely you will have to play a corner Long Fangs and reserve game. Will see. But this means I get to make 4 more new Goats on Juggers as I want to have all plastic damnit. I might rip off the guys on the metal juggers now and just build plastic juggers for them to ride on. The riders are plastic and I can go back and do some color tweaking to make them look nicer. I will probably do that with all the other goats too and create a nicer looking force.

Right now I am waiting till next month to put in my final order for DE. This should get me enough to get my games on with the foot army I want to play with. So look for more talk about that in the coming month or so. Reaver Titan is almost together and ready to paint so look for that jerk as well as a Stompa coming soon.

There was a 40k Tournament this past weekend I went with Fabius Bile in hopes to go 0-2 and go home early to hit a party. I went 3-0 and got 2nd overall so I didn't go to the party and got home late and helped my Brother in Law as he was stuck at home with a bum car. I shaved his hair into a mohawk as he wanted something different. I used to shave my own head in a mohawk for awhile and just stuck with having a business Fauhawk now. Cuz I am serious internet business!

1850 or so pts. I think it was less but I don't remember. Either way, simple basic CSM list. Not strong but not a complete push over as the Bile marines can be a pain. A lack of long ranged fire power is telling. I do wish my Chaos Lord was Kharn though. I think if you want to play this, throw Kharn in as he just works a ton better then the regular Chaos Lord as I will show. Plus I can say I always hit something with Kharn :).

Game 1 - Versus Bulley Mike - Eldar - The flying red army. Sam Haim I think I don't remember nor want to Google. Cuz if you Google it more then once you are playing with it. 4 3 man Jet Bike squads. 1 Seer Council. Dire Avengers in a Wave Serpant. 2 Fire Prisms, 1 Falcon with Fire Dragons and 3 Vypers.

Yay Eldar. One of my hated armies as I have had some lovely luck playing them. Anyway I moved forward and got into range and killed some things. I got lucky with the seer council as I assaulted them and was able to break them the second turn with some luck on my side. From there I just ran around doing my business. I rolled FNP for the Possessed and roll a 3 on the Bile guys so all was normal. I ended up winning this one in the end. 21 to 1. It was modified kill points with some bonus objectives. I killed the Vypers, Fire Dragon, Seer Council, 1 Jet bike squad, Dire Avengers, Falcon, and a Fire Prism. He got the Chaos Lord and a rhino and one Daemon squad.

Game 2 - Versus Matt with Foot Eldar - 2 Squads of Guardians, 1 Wraith Guard, Avatar, Eldrad, 2 Wraith Lords, Dire Avengers, Warp spiders, and a squad of Banshees. I rolled Power weapons on the possessed and got a 6 for my Bile Guys - awesome!

I thought I was going to lose this game but Matt misplaced his guardians and I was able to multi Assault his Wraith Guard and a guardian squad. It allowed me to get the business started and I slowed chewed them up. I ended up getting Eldrad and an Avatar slowed down by possessed as the rest of my army just chewed through all the bits and pieces. I really think that one set up is what cost him the game. It was a 5 objective game and he placed a Guardian squad off to the side and away from an objective. The lack of mobility meant that unit was useless as I just got there and did the business with a Mark of Slaanesh group. If my guys hadn't started exploding it would have been easier as I could stretch out and get more objectives. He had an Avatar and Eldrad left to my full squad of Obliterators, Bile, 3 MoS bile marines and 1 squad of daemons and rhinos. Oh my Chaos Lord rolled two 1's in a row and ate it to Eldrad. Eldrad didn't take a single wound like a jerk. Me hates no Psychic Hood. The game had a 3 bonus points if you had a chosen HQ stay alive and the opponents chosen HQ was dead. Didn't get that as Eldrad was a meanie and Bile was a wuss and hide in a Rhino.

Game 3 - Final game versus Chris C with CSM Thousand Sons sort of flavor with Abbadon. 1 Thousand Son squad, 1 Possessed Squad, 1 MoT ML CSM squad, 1 MoT 2 Meltagun CSM squad, 2 Oblits, 1 LR, and a Sorceror Lord of Tzeentch

I rolled a 1 for my Bile marines and Fleet for the Possessed. I am on fire! It was a Dawn of war game with Kill points. This game I basically played like a control freak and just didn't let Abbaddon get into combat. He came out one side and I came out the other. He had to move a bunch and when I was able to get into 12 inch range with Oblits I immoblized his LR. From there he misplayed and didn't just throw the Don in my face. He tried to keep him with the Thousand sons. He should have just thrown him forward and had me just throw Possessed at him to keep him busy. That would have made the game better for him instead of sticking him with a squad of A Thousand Sons. He also had some terrible dice rolling as I killed his two Oblits with bolters and one meltagun. I got 6 kill points to his 4 in this game and I took the win.

So I got 2 and ended up getting a Box of Incubi and a Raider out of it. Woohoo more Dark Eldar to go with the one box of Reavers I bought and the Box of Wyches, Archon, and Warrior Squad I got from Spikey Bits. The army will probably get done sometime in Jan as I get other projects finished.

Goatboy 40k Fun times

Tournament - I went 1 - 1 - 1 kinda. The draw was a draw but the other player got a bit more. I rolled pretty bad when a trukk boy squad assaulted a 9 Man Grey Hunter and I only killed 3 in the counter assault and then lost all of them to failed armor saves!! Yay.

Basic game breakdown.

Game 1 - Colby w/IG - Nice IG list beyond the Allies. He still hated my dice so we were even. I got there after he shot his army at the bike squad. Chomp chomp chomp. He had a Chimera left. Full points for me. Colby is a cool dude and he lived in Austin for a bit as he went to school and cut his teeth playing us jerks at BFG. Good guy and great to see him.

Game 2 - Jon Willingham - Space Wolves - Drop pod list - he beat me up as the dice went south on me in the end. I should have just fully reserved and then dealt with them. This is why my new Boyz list is different. I went with something new for my Space Goats. Good game, Jon is a cool guy even though he has beaten me twice. At least this was a game unlike the last one where I failed all my armor saves on my Super Goat Riders in one round of storm bolter fire. Jon won the Tournament too.

Game 3 - Russell with unorthodox orks. Russell is another guy who comes down with David Light to Austin to kick some ass. He wanted to get some revenge on the nonsense I did to him with Mephtison the last time I played him. He will be more then happy to talk about it. We both had funky dice rolling - I chased off Ghaz and friends with bikers and killed them, Grey Hunters sucked versus orks! - and overall a good fun game as it is always a blast playing Russell. I like to give him shit because I considered him a cool guy to hang out with. Russell got third.

Jon Wolf and Nick both lost their last games to get knocked out with Jon on the top table versus Jon Willingham and Nick versus Jay and his Blood Angels that loved Astrogoth making them pissed off. Overall I like the missions hated the terrain on the table. In fact I played two games on a table with almost no terrain. It was like I was playing an IG players wet dream. Here is hoping a new store does open with kick ass terrain in the future.

I will post my new Space Goats list after The Boyz Deadline of the 30th of October. I already submitted it and painted up all the pieces because I am a painting machine of doom. But it is different and hopefully interesting to play against and with. The basic core is still there, bikes of doom, but I went with some different thoughts on deployment and how I can interact with whatever is thrown at me. Oh and no Long Fangs! Gasp!!!

I did some paint testing on Dark Eldar stuff - Made a Webway Portal as well as the first Grotesques. I finished the next 2 so I have 4 total now. I need to find another or figure out something that looks enough like the other two to see what is up. Or I just run 4 and say eff it.

This is my pure Assault with long range finger pointing action. It should be able to hurt someone, has 6 scoring units and a shit ton of tanks. Are you going to shoot the jerks with dogs coming at you? We also have 4 Wolf Tail Talisman's riding in the squad. Psychic battle squads? I don't think so. Roll 4 dice and if you get a 5 it turns off. Lash, 4 dice to get a 5. Good times i say. It also has enough Melta to hurt things as needed and the range is pretty good with 48" of everywhere. Who knows if it is any good. I would just need to make one more rhino and some extra dudes to have this army. Fun times indeed.

I am also wondering if a nob biker army could be a good dark horse initial play army for the beginning. It is something to think about as it does a good job of fully whipping out an enemy if not prepared for. Something to think about haha.

But alright - some Goat Angels stuff I painted up to get the army ready to go. I am itching to play some BA and I am a stickler about playing all painted armies. This also keeps me sane form the Nids stuff I am doing as well as finishing up an IG order that is huge haha. Fun times fun times. The Baal turret was built by a friend. I will be doing another one to match it up and keep the crazy Orkish/Chaos/Mad Max style the army seems to have.

And here is a Lictor for the snow Nids I am painting up. I should have a Trygon later on this week too, got him built and the base built up. I need to add in some baby rippers running around. After that there is a Mawloc for the same guy as well as some Tervigons for another client. Fun times! The lictor is blending into the metal, thus the slight change in skin tone as well as reflecting the green glow. Plus some of the crazy Zonathropes I built for the customer.





I also did some quick WoC for a local client. They were fun to do and I just had fun working up the blue for this army.
