It's Sunday!

The "beginning" of my work week. Totally awesome right? Well it is usually an easy day so that is good. Better to start off easy and shake the weekend rust off. This weekend was a long one. Friend's wedding that the wifey was a part of. That meant a long day waiting around for things to happen. I finished my book and started doodling around with an army list and more cartoon workings on my new endeavor. Will see if it shows up sooner then later. But all in all it was kinda meh weekend.

I did get some things done. I shipped off the Reaver as well as the Vampire. I also shipped off some small things and built a LR that needed to get done for this week that finishes off another commission. I actually painted it today so all in all a good time. I also "finished" my taxes and owe some monies. It makes me a sad panda but at least I have it to pay it. I figure that it isn't too bad and it just means I pretty much got all the money I should get during the year and didn't put it in a crummy "savings" account. Fun times indeed.

So lets start off with my painting list.

John H
Land Raider Redeemer/Crusader/Chaos build - Finished today!

Jens
CSM - 6 man squad - Finished!
CSM - 7 man squad - Primed
Random plasma gun - primed

Nick R
Menoth unit - need to build and paint

Luis P
12 more Necromunda Guys

Michael S
Ork Bomba - Started building - need to finish

Myself
Maybe a test 10 man Ass Iron Warriors Squad - Build/Paint

I plan on trying to get on the streaming TV this Friday. I got locked into finishing some things before going out for a BBQ/Fajita session with some old friends. He has some freetime so it is bro hanging out time. So will see. Hopefully I can get the lot of this done. It will feel good damnit :).

I keep thinking I want to play a Dreadnought list and the thought of the Iron Warriors paint scheme is screaming at me. Most likely that will mean Blood Angels as it gives me the most Dreadnoughts to mess around with. The question is do I go where my brain wants to go with an all out balls to the walls kill fest or go another direction. I will probably mix it up as I usually do.

Current list Thoughts - 1850 cuz people still playing that grrr

HQ: Mephiston - He is a DP basically
Elites: Furioso Librarian Dread, Fear, Shield - Neato!
Elites: Furioso Dreadnought, Blood Talons, Extra Armor
Elites: Furioso Dreadnought, Blood Talons, Extra Armor
Troops: Ass Squad X 10, Meltagun X 2, Powerfist, Storm Shield, Rhino
Troops: Ass Squad X 10, Flamers X 2, Powerfist, Storm Shield, Rhino
Troops: Ass Squad X 10, Meltagun X 2, Powerfist, Storm Shield - Jump Packs!
Heavy: Dreadnought, TWL Autocannon X 2
Heavy: Dreadnought, TWL Autocannon X 2
Heavy: Dreadnought, TWL Autocannon X 2

Yeah this is just an dumb extreme list. But it has a crap ton of robots which is all I care about. Man I am starting to dislike 1850 haha. Will I build it? Who the hell knows. It will really matter if I grab one of those dreadnoughts and paint it up all Iron Warrior like. If it hits me right then this bastard army will get built. That is just how I am hah.

Some pics!!

Woohoo another week

Another batch of minis getting working on. I started on stuff today and got some small things done before my hand cramped up. I got a commission to finish next week as well as getting started on the ork bomba this weekend. I got a wedding to go too so it might cramp my already awesome style haha. So without much here is my list of paint stuff.

Me
Probably nothing - :( - maybe think about plastic Space Wolf Jugger riders

Darkwynn
Menoth Flamer Guys - Bam already done did - Pics Below - DONE!
Mini Jack thing - It needs to be reprimed

Jens
8 Noise Marines - Half are done - other half primed
Obliterators - DONE!

John H
Land Raider - Build and Paint - Maybe

Michael S
Ork bomba - Build

Adriano
Base for Vampire - Built needs rocks with regular glue then paint

Luis P
10 more Necromunda as usual - Primed!

Bill
2nd Test mini - DONE!

Next week sees some more things done and shipping out this huge Reaver - Check out the video from BOLS - REAVER!. It was a beast to paint up - about 7 hours of paint time. I have methods to do metal that are mindless and easy - just can take awhile on something that big.

Beyond that - look for me getting on video on Friday to paint stuff and chat. I will post the link again earlier and a better time frame. Hopefully I can get my audio to work so you can hear my beautiful voice. Hah.

So BA Storm Raven list - I can it go big or go home.

HQ: Mephiston
Elite: Chaplain
Elite: Sang Priest, Jump Pack, Power Sword, Meltabombs
Troops: Death Company X 10, Power Sword X 2, Powerfist X 2
Troops: Death Dread, Blood Talons
Troops: Death Dread, Blood Talons
Troops: Ass Squad X 10, Meltagun X 2, Powerfist, Storm Shield
Troops: Ass Squad X 5, Meltagun, Powerfist, Storm Shield, Rhino
Troops: Ass Squad X 5, Meltagun, Powerfist, Storm Shield, Rhino
Heavy: Storm Raven, TWL MM, TWL Lascannon, Extra Armor
Heavy: Storm Raven, TWL MM, TWL Lascannon, Extra Armor

It is right around 2000 pts so if you want to go 1850 - look at dropping one of the rhino squads are dropping the fists/ss from them. And a power sword and fist from the Death Company. It is a pretty go big list and I think it would work out pretty well. Plus how fun is it to go zoom zoom with Storm Ravens.

I've got some new ideas for Wolf Star armies. The biggest thing I have been seeing with them is the lack of any real troop presence. Your Grey Hunters are so good. They are just great and if you can create what I like to call - turn 3+ advantages with your troops you have a good chance of winning. So really look at 30+ grey hunters in your Wolf Star builds. I got some tricks that I think might push it up and really make people mad. As usual people won't listen to me so I will post it anyway.

Wolf Star - 2.0 - 1850 List

HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf Mount, Powerfist, Storm Shield, Fenris Wolves X 2
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf Mount, Powerfist, Storm Shield, Wolf Tail Talisman, Fenris Wolves X 2
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf Mount, Wolf Claw, Storm Shield, Fenris Wolves X 2
HQ: Wolf Priest, Saga of the Hunter
Elites: WG X 5
WG 1 - Power Armor, Combi-Melta, Powerfist - 2
WG 2 - Power Armor, Combi-Plasma, Powerfist - 1
WG 3 - Power Armor - 1
WG 4 - Terminator Armor, CML
Troops: Grey Hunters X 7, Meltagun, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters X 7, Meltagun, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters X 7, Plasmagun, Rhino
FA: Fenris Wolves X 5
FA: Thunder Wolf Cav X 1, Storm Shield, Powerfist
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, ML X 5
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, Heavy Bolter X 3, ML X 2

So basically you join the 3 Wolf Lords to the 5 Wolves + the Wolf Priest. You can join them because anyone can join the Dogs. The Saga of the Hunter gives a 3+ cover most likely to the dogs and the guys etc. Plus they are fearless which means a less likely chance that they eat it to PBS's. You also got some interesting Long Fang configs. You got a set up that puts out 9 heavy bolters into something as well as 4 ML into a vehicle. Pretty spicey. The extra WG is an extra wound for the 5 ML Long Fang squad. What he always makes his 4+ cover save or his 3+ armor save. Cuz he is a jerk.

Tweaks you can do to it is drop one of the lords and get a lot more stuff. It might be worth wile that way like adding in another troop squad which wouldn't be terrible. The extra wound WG can join that squad if need be. Still it is a thought for sure. Try it out if you want. I think it will give more staying power especially when the "wolf" star dies. The extra Thunder Wolf Cav is your extra WG battle leader :).

Some minis that were just painted cuz I am crazy!

Goatboy's 40k Thoughts - Back to Normal

Alright things are back to normal. In good news I am back to a better schedule which will give me more time to throw some dice and throw off the shackles of Casual gamer :). Not that it is bad, I just like to throw dice as much as I can. At least talk about it beyond writing blog posts and other nonsense.

I am slowly building up my DE - and I am looking at a foot army being the most generous for my style of game play. I think the idea of massed waves with DE will be its strength and will see those lists start to come out as everyone and their mom gets tired of the "Alpha" strike we see throughout 40k. Most of my lists are not designed to kill you in the first turn, instead looking to push my advantages in the first few turns and then play a clean up roll. Plus I am all about the massed bluff unit that lets my other units get to work like I need them too.

Right now the Main thought is a massed Haem's mixed with an Archon attached to Incubi to throw a smack down to those near or pop out of a portal to cause some mischief. Mix this with 2 fat 20 man Warrior blobs and then annoying massed Venom beatdown units. Will see if all of this works right :).

I know a lot of people are saying Nids are dead versus DE - but I still think they will do ok. Especially the horde lists that you don't see as much. I can see Hormaguants just hitting a unit of DE and murdering them as they can reroll the wounds with Furious charge and poison. Will just have to see. I need to complete my Nid army - but a clients comes first :).

Current Project list - for the rest of this week and the next.

10 Gargoyles - At least get the build done for the week after painting when my wife is out of town and I am left to cry alone :)
8 Dwarves - Fritz Mordhiem - all built and will probably get done tomorrow
3 Blood Crushers of the World Eaters - all the pieces are collected - the customer PF is built and I will just have to build
10 Marine World Eaters - Want to build - WG included
1 Rhino World Eaters - Want to build - Hopefully get painted
Need to catalog Luis P new project and get Valks to Decal guy to finish - This will hopefully be on Thursday for the Valks and later during the week.
2 Mechanics - Build and paint for Big Red to "finish" his Khador army. This army has supposed be done the last 3 Models I have had to paint
Khador Plastic Box - Build and review for BOLS

So that is my "plans". Depending on what DE will get in I might finish off the Incubi to a total of 10 and then look at another Venom/Warrior Suicide squad. Or so that is the plan.

I think I might have found my "BA" list that will make me want to stop going all Wolf. I don't know how "good" it will be, but it at least lets me play all the annoying shit I like to play and kill people with. Tell me what you think - I call this - FU scoring Troops Goat Angels style.

HQ: Librarian, Shield of Sang, Unleash Rage
Elites: Assault Terminators X 5, Lit Claws X 2, Th/SS X 3
Elites: Chaplain
Elites: Furioso Dreadnought, Blood Talons, Extra Armor
Troops: Death Company X 6, PW X 2, PF X 1
Troops: Death Company Dread, Blood Talons
Troops: Scout Squad X 5, Camo Cloaks
Troops: Scout Squad X 5, Camo Cloaks
Troops: Scout Squad X 5, Camo Cloaks
FA: Vanguard Vets x 5, Infernus Pistol X 3, PF X 1, Jump Packs
Heavy: Storm Raven, TWL MM, TWL Lascannon, Hurricane Sponsons, Extra Armor
Heavy: Storm Raven, TWL MM, TWL Lascannon, Hurricane Sponsons, Extra Armor

1850 - If I had 2000 pts I would look at another Vanguard Vet squad by dropping some of the extra nonsense mixed around. I want to try Vanguard Vets as a) No one expects the Spanish Inquisition b) They provide a Long Fangs/Loota Answer c) cuz only bad players play Vanguard Vets. This is designed as another Null list that creates problems for opponents by making them not play correctly. If you are not on the table, they don't know where to go. Blood Talons are amazing especially when the vehicle is an assault vehicle and can drop off up to two explosive units into opponents that will just go crazy. The Death Company will reroll Hits/Wounds. I hear Death Company suck - so show people how much they suck when they bust the crap out of socalled Death Stars at Ini 5.

The troops are insanely weak but that is the issue with BA. Compare anything they have to Grey Hunters and you start to get mad like Darkwynn does. It just doesn't seem fair so instead of using them to try and be aggressive I said F that and just went with the most damaging units BA has.

Some Minis I have painted as well as some art I've done. I do Blog Logos for $25.00 in case anyone else is interested. The art for SpikeyBits also comes from me too :).

Goatboy 40k Attack of the Dingus!

So this week might be royally f-d in the A when it comes to me getting some games in :(. If you live near the Gulf Coast there is a hurricane coming in. Also if you know what I do, technical support for an internet company, then you know there is a good chance we might be boned over this with wind, rain, and pure ass hatery. So I might not get to play :(. Which makes me sad as it is a heavy tournament and I could unleash whatever nonsense I could think of. So will see.

I was going to play either Space Wolves or Blood Angels depending on the mood I was in. I thought about a maxed out LR BA list just for shits and giggles or some kind of LoganWing. Lists below.

You saw the original 3 Super Hero Space Wolf Wolf Lord list - here is a LoganWing

HQ: Logan
HQ: Rune Priest, Jaws, Living Lightning
HQ: Wolf Priest
Troops: Wolf Guard X 10
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor, Cyclone Missile Launcher
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor, Cyclone Missile Launcher
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor, ChainFist, Storm Shield
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor
Wolf Guard, Terminator Armor
Wolf Guard, Mark of the Wolfen - Goes with Blood Claws
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun X 2, Power Weapon, Mark of the Wolfen, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun X 2, Power Weapon, Mark of the Wolfen, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Plasmagun X 2, Power Weapon, Mark of the Wolfen, Rhino
Troops: Blood Claws X 8, Power Weapon, Rhino
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, Missile Launcher X 5

Just a lot of troops, and try to control and protect the center. A more flexible list as well as just a way to play with some nonsense that I feel might be neat to mess around with. I wanted to test out more Plasma in some grey hunter squads, thus the change to plasma guns there. But it is a thought. Could be fun too, and playing with that many Terminators makes me feel like I am in 2nd edition haha.

BA - Land Raider HOOOO!!!

HQ: Librarian, Preferred Enemy, Sanguine Sword
Elites: Chaplain
Elites: Sanguinary Priests in Power Armor X 2, Power Sword X 2
Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Meltagun X 2, Powerfist, Land Raider Crusader, Multi-Melta
Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Flamer X 2, Powerfist, Land Raider Redeemer, Multi-Melta
Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Meltagun X 2, Powerfist, Land Raider, Multi-melta
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield

This is just a, can you deal with Land Raiders? No... I'm sorry TANK SHOCK!!! Who knows if it is any good but it should be alright to play. Plus I just like more feet on the table. And I can deep strike them for pure idiocy. The regular land raider is set up to be a tank hunter, with the others going right at your face. I don't like min squads in LR as once you pop the box, they are pretty much worthless after that.

So those new FAQ's? Some nonsense, some good. All and all it looks alright. They say some things that were pretty damned obvious. I don't like how Shadow doesn't work on people in vehicles as well as the change to how FC only works if you are still within the 6 inch sippy cup bubble. The goofiest thing is if a ini 6 character kills the priest, the squad loses their angry charge.

I have had a slow paint week with just some building of Tervigons for Darkwyn, 3 Plasma weapon holding goats, and some other small goofy stuff. The rain mixed with just being tired has kept me from working a bunch. Hopefully the change in schedule will help a bit as well as get a chance to see my wife more often.

Also, Green Blow Fly took up the offer for some art and got the following done for his blog header. Again the deal is $25 bucks gets you something cool. If you know people needing something drawn up, send them my way. I will be posting in Dakka and Bols for all those interested.

Goatboy 40k: Lord I just like playing Space Goats

Do you ever get that with an army? You just like to have all the options and just keep playing it but in different configurations? I think the new 5th edition landscape has really let a lot of armies morph into more then just one set of minis. Hell it keeps me buying stuff, so that is always good. I like to help places stay open so I can play my bullshit army every now and again. Can't be a complete douche in my own house, cuz if I am no one will come and play with me and I will just be all alone with my toys and cheeto stained tshirts.

Current Thought Builds for Space Wolves - Shit should I call this blog Space WOLVES R THE AWEZOME!!!

Wolf Lords HOOO!!!

HQ: Wolflord, Thunder Wolf, Saga of the Warrior, Frost Axe, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Fenris Wolves X 2 - Wolverine
HQ: Wolflord, Thunder Wolf, Saga of the Bear, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Fenris Wolves X 2 - Captain America
HQ: Wolflord, Thunder Wolf, Saga of the Beast Slayer, Powerfist, Storm Shield, Runic ARmor, Fenris Wolves X 2 - Iron Man
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun X 2, Power Weapon, Mark of the Wolfen, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun X 2, Power Weapon, Mark of the Wolfen, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Flamer X 2, Power Weapon, Mark of the Wolfen, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Plasma Gun X 2, Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon, Mark of the Wolfen, Rhino
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, Missile Launcher X 5
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, Missile Launcher X 5

Lots of guys - no dogs to hide lords in, because they are running by themselves. You want to waste shots on one guy, go for it. They will be spread out and ready to go beat the shit out of stuff. the more I think about it, putting them all in one basket just leaves them open to getting hurts by massed fire. Leaving them one at a time, means you have to put serious damage on them to get rid of them, no longer just putting a few shots on them etc. I could drop one Grey Hunter squad to get another, but think the 4 10 man squads should do some good. Plus, they are set up that if they get out, they will always be a threat to anything coming at them. And of course 10 missiles are always good.

Again, this isn't a fun list, as it is spam heavy on what is in there for super assault stuff. You could always drop the plasma squad, get some Elite Thunder Wolf Iron priests and have some serious crazy assault stuff.

Now some BA love - something I might be playing for a heavy. I am really hating 5 man assault squads, as once they get out of their expensive ride they are easy to kill and get rid of. I just don't think playing for the Alpha strike is a particular fun way to play this game and find armies that do this to be rather, well one dimensional and bad for the game as a whole. When I saw that allies were taken out, I was happy as it made players play their actual codexes, but with the GW ruling that allows it, it just makes me a sad panda. Oh well - it will change at some point.

Anyway onto BA. This is a mish mash list with Sanguinor in it. I don't know it is truly good, but it lets me play with the stuff I like. Fast Vehicles and a flying Iron Goatman of death.

HQ: Sanguinor
HQ: Honor Guard X 5, Flamers X 3, Meltagun, Jump Packs (wings)
Elites: Furioso Librarian Dreadnought, Wings, Shield
Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Meltagun X 2, Power Weapon, Rhino
Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Flamer X 2, Power Weapon, Rhino
Troops: Assault Squad X 10, Meltagun X 2, Power Weapon
FA: Baal Predator
FA: Baal Predator
FA: Baal Predator
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield

This is a mish mash list that should do alright. You got a lot of troops, can deep strike stuff and have vehicles all over. I still believe in go 12 or go home for BA, and think sponsons are for silly people. Yeah I know, I can go 6 and shoot stuff, but come on really, if you go six and some of the new super fast assault units in the game can now hit you on 4's and probably swamp all your vehicles is just something I don't want to lose too. Plus all those 60 points add up and can get you another vehicle. Target saturation is goods.

I don't know, I am hoping some of the new books will be more exciting. Fantasy is not making me want to build new armies as the horde rule is looking like it is going to kill my wallet. The termite BS mixed with just cash flow issues overall (less OT, changes to pay scale at work, etc) means I just don't have the extra money right now. I am hoping next month changes but I have a feeling I won't feel the load lighten till my wife pays off her car. Oh well. It will all be good and it just means I need not eat out as much and try to be smart about my money decisions. Lucky for me, I have bought all the techno toys I want so far this year (Iphone, Laptop, etc) so I don't forsee anything crazy going on (Knock on wood, without any termites in there). I just need to make sure I have fun for Vegas GT next year.

Also, if you want art now is the time. $25 dollars gets you a full color image like the ones below, so come on and get some customer drawings of whatever you want. Also miniature painting is up as usual too hah.

Woot - So I made a Goat Sanguinor

Need to Dull coat it, to help deal with some funky spray paint crap on it. I kept the bits as it looks rusty, but I think a clear coat will help smooth it all down a bit. Pics to go up on the Full of Monkey Blog in a day or two. His name will be the Great Iron Goat, thus the rusted armor and straight wing growth from his back as well as the chains. He is so infused with the aura of the great Goat. One day I will write the Hierarchy of the Goats and the internet will just get more mad at me hah.

But here is my mean list with Sanguinor. His design/part of the army is just as a way to be a nuisance as well as an opponent "target". I really like creating target units/unit to help push my opponents decisions into dealing with it. As PDiddy said in the movie "Get him to the Greek" it's time to mind fuck them.

Not Nice Blood Angels list with some Spam mixed in.

HQ: Sanguinor
HQ: Honor Guard, Blood Champion, 3 X Flamers, Razorback, TWL Hvy Flamer
Elites: Sanguinary Priest, Jump Pack, Power Weapon
Elites: Librarian Furioso Dreadnought, Wings, Shield
Troops: 10 - Assault Squad, 2 X Meltagun, Power Weapon
Troops: 10 - Assault Squad, 2 X Meltagun, Power Weapon, Rhino
Troops: 10 - Assault Squad, 2 X Meltagun, Power Weapon, Rhino
FA: Baal Predator
FA: Baal Predator
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield

Basically you can make an armor 13 wall, your rhinos and jump packs behind. Your Dread moves up casts shield during your opponents turn and you move your Sanguinor to jump around. You could also deep strike your Assault squad too as well as the Sanguinor. He might not have the newb punch like Mephiston, but he will do a number on smaller squads as well as take out some HQ's that Meph doesn't like to see (Wolf Lords with Saga of the FU Bear). So yeah, my kinda thought for BA right now, might test it this Thursday depending on if I can get someone to play me a game with it.

A reader of the blog pointed out I was a cheatie face with my Hobby Space Wolf army, so here is the fix. You can't put a Wolf Guard with the Jump Pack Blood Claws so I had to change up the list. DAMN YOU GW!!!

HQ: Wolf Lord, Bike, Saga of the Bear, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Wolf Tooth Talisman
HQ: Wolf Priest, Bike, Runic Armor
HQ: Wolf Priest, Jump Pack, Runic Armor
HQ: Rune Priest, Murderous Hurricane, Living Lightning
Elites: Wolf Guard Pack X 5
Wolf Guard in Power Armor, MoW, Bike - W/the bikes
Wolf Guard in Power Armor, Power Weapon - With Grey Hunters 1
Wolf Guard in Power Armor, Power Weapon - With Grey Hunters 2
Wolf Guard in Power Armor, Power Weapon - With Blood Claws
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor, Cyclone Missile Launcher - With Long Fangs
Troops: 9 - Grey Hunters, Meltagun, Power Weapon, MoW, Rhino
Troops: 9 - Grey Hunters, Flamer, Power Weapon, MoW, Rhino
Troops: 8 - Blood Claws, Power Weapon, Rhino
FA: 6 - Swift Claw Bikers, Meltagun, Power Weapon, Attack Bike, Multi-Melta
FA: 8 - Sky Claws, Meltagun, Power Weapon, MoW
Heavy: 6 - Long Fangs, Missile Launcher X 3, Heavy Bolter X 2

Here is my Current Heavy Build for Space Wovles/Goats too - Embracing the power of Logan and the LoganWing. Or the Grim Goat as I call him.

HQ: Logan
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Saga of the Bear, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Fenris Wolves X 2
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Saga of the Warrior, Frost Axe, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Fenris Wolves X 2
Elites: Wolf Guard Unit X 10
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor, Cyclone Missile Launcher
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor, Cyclone Missile Launcher
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor, Storm Shield, Chainfist
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor
Wolf Guard in Terminator Armor
Troops: 10 - Grey Hunters, Meltagun X 2, Power Weapon, MoW, Rhino
Troops: 10 - Grey Hunters, Meltagun X 2, Power Weapon, MoW, Rhino
FA: Fenris Wolves X 10
Heavy: 6 - Long Fangs, Missile Launcher X 5

This sits right at 2000 points. I might have to drop one lord, and go with more Long Fangs or maybe another Grey Hunter squad. I want to test this more just to see how much it helps having a big huge Troop squad. I might have to find a way to Save the Wolf Lords from crazy Psychic nonsense, so will see. If I am worried, I could always start Logan Attached to make them fearless as the Terminators should survive most stuff coming at them and will be placed forward so hopefully they won't run away if I block their normal path etc. Will see. It is just a bunch of thoughts as usual. I did finish all my Goat Terminators too, because I don't like to play if it ain't painted.

Anyone else having fun with Logan Wing? Any other thoughts? I went heavy TH in my build more from the fact I liked the way they looked and thought it would be neat to see them walking around all tough and Road House like. Cuz Paint don't Hurt!!!

Wow so this week has been fun so far

1100.00 less - and my house is going to be rid of Termites. Neighbors saw some on their side, and of course that means I got to pay some monies to get rid of them. Luckily it was found early enough that there were not all up in my shit. And lucky enough I had savings. I don't want to get into credit card debt any more beyond life or death stuff, so savings it came from. Hopefully some more commissions will roll through and my savings will fill back up. So if anyone needs art or minis, shoot me an email and we can work out a deal hah. Heck if you want a cool drawing of your avatar/character/headshot/etc shoot me an email. Prices will be at $25.00 for a digital color unless you want something crazy. You can check out some of my art at Full of Monkey.

So a fan from BOLS sent me an email asking me to make something with bikers and BA. So this is the list I made. I don't know if it will work, but it should give you some quick goofy games.

HQ: Librarian, Fear the Darkness, Str 10 power, Bike
HQ: Librarian, Fear the Darkness, Str 10 power, Bike
Elites: Sang Priest X 2, Bike X 2, PW X 2
Elites: Chaplain, Bike

Transport: Razorback, TWL whatever you want that costs points
FA: Bike Squad X 5, Meltagun X 2, Power Fist, Attack Bike, MM
FA: Bike Squad X 5, Meltagun X 2, Power Fist, Attack Bike, MM
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield

This sits around 2000 points. I don't know if it will work, but it makes me kinda interested in at least playtesting it. See if it is worthwile. Probably not, but who knows. If I could only make those bikers scoring. But both squads are fearless, reroll hits in the first round, str 5, toughness 5 with lots of power weapon attacks as well as fists etc. Plus lots of FNP. I don't know if Fear the Darkness is better or something else. The powers don't truly matter too much. If only they had access to Null Zone. Heck you could change the Meltaguns to plasma guns and try to never get into assault till you wanted too. It is one of those random list thoughts.

Got a hobby tournament this weekend and plan on taking a Highlander style Space Wolves list. Just lots of different things. Not optimized at all.

HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Normal goodies set up with Saga of the Bear, Fenris Wolves X 2
HQ: Rune Priest, Living Lightning, Murderous Hurricane
HQ: Wolf Priest, Jump Pack, Meltabombs

FA: Fenris Wolves X 10
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, 2 Lascannons, 3 HB

There might be some meltabombs somewhere to make it at 2000 points. But yeah it is an really random list with lots of goofy stuff. Just want to try out some new things to see what works.

This week I am pretty much caught up on mini painting. So all in all a pretty good week beyond the sheer kick to the wallets nuts. I am just glad I am not putting it all on a credit card. I need to get 5 more Meganobs done for the Ork Robots army as well as another box of Killa Kans at some point to finish it out.

Stupid lists I am playing or planning

I know I am not the most orthodox list builder. Beyond certain troop stylings, I usually go with some kind of assault or hammer unit, mixed with good ranged fire, and some good anti troop firepower. That mix has kept me in the winners bracket most of the time and lets me play the style of game I enjoy, a take all comers style.

But without further thought, here are my 3 main playing lists (one is in the works). Nids will be coming in a few months, so expect that to pop up here. Now these are not my goofy fun lists. These are what I consider competitive and still being able to give some kind of a game. Really my only desire is to give my opponent a game, whether it is a competitive one or just a fun one. I want to give them something that they can have fun with. Of course I might table you, but still I want to have fun.

All lists will be 2000 points, as that is what we play locally.

Space Goats/Space Wolves

HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf Mount, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Saga of the Bear, Wolf Tail Necklace, Fenris Wolves X 2 - 285pts
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf Mount, Frost Axe, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Saga of the Warrior Borne, Wolf Tail Necklace, Fenris Wolves X 2 - 280pts
HQ: Canis, Fenris Wolves X 2 - 205pts
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf Mount, Powerfist, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Saga of Majesty, Wolf Tail Necklace Fenris Wolves X 2 - 260pts
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun x 2, MoW - 170pts
Transport: Rhino - 35pts
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Meltagun x 2, MoW - 170pts
Transport: Rhino - 35pts
Troops: Grey Hunters X 10, Flamer X 2, MoW - 165pts
Transport: Rhino - 35pts
Fast Attack: Fenris Wolves X 10 - 80pts
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, ML X 5 - 140pts
Heavy: Long Fangs X 6, ML X 5 - 140pts

Pts - 2000pts

This is a pretty super crazy character list and is not always the most fun to play against. You will have those games where those wolf lords just go all crazy Justin Bieber fan and cut a bitch all over the place. The Saga of Majesty will help keep you on the board in case of a massed anti dog fire hitting the unit. The design is to break away after turn 1 and go about doing some hurting. This list isn't for everyone, but really fits my style. And 30 troopers is pretty sweet.

Heavy list - rating towards the super heavy side.

Ork Robots are Awesome!!!

HQ: Warboss, Mega Armor, Attack Squig, Bosspole, Cybork - 130pts
HQ: Big Mek, Burna, Cybork, Eavy Armor, Kustom Force Field, Bosspole, Attack Squig - 120pts
Elites: Lootas X 15 - 225pts
Elites: MegaNobz X 5 - 200pts
Transport: Trukk, Red Paint Job - 40pts
Troops: Nobz Mob X 5, Painboy, Power Klaw X 3, Bosspole, Waagh Banner, Eavy Armor X 5, Cybork Body - 270pts
Transport: Battlewagon, Big Shoota X 2, Deff Rolla - 120pts
Troops: Shoota Boyz X 20, Rokkit Launcha X 2, Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole - 180pts
Troops: Shoota Boyz X 20, Rokkit Launcha X 2, Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole - 180pts
Troops: Deff Dread, Dreadnought CCW X 2, Xtra Armor, Grot Riggas - 120pts
Heavy: Killa Kans X 3, Rokkit Launchas X 3 - 150pts
Heavy: Battlewagon, Big Shoota X 2, Deff Rolla - 120pts
Heavy: Battlewagon, Big Shoota X 2, Deff Rolla - 120pts

Pts - 1995pts

Midrange Heavy - Certain armies will just tear it apart. If you plan on playing it remember skating your Wagons around will help out, use them as floating assault bases. The dreads hide behind and give a nice counter assault as well as the Meganobz. Remember, a turn three massed assault is great to help keep you in the winners circle.

Goat Angels/DREADNOUGHTS HOOOO!!!

HQ: Mephiston - 250pts
Elites: Furioso Librarian Dreadnought, Wings, Shield - 175pts
Elites: Furioso Librarian Dreadnought, Wings, Blood Lance - 175pts
Troops: Death Company X 10, Power Weapon, Power Fist - 240pts
Transport: Rhinos - 50pts
Troops: Death Company Dreadnought, Blood Talons - 125pts
Troops: Death Company Dreadnought, Blood Talons - 125pts
Troops: Assault Squad X 5 - 100pts
Transport: Razorback, TWL Hvy Flamer - 20pts
Troops: Assault Squad X 5 - 100pts
Transport: Razorback, TWL Lascannon - 55pts
Troops: Assault Squad X 5 - 100pts
Transport: Razorback, TWL Lascannon - 55pts
FA: Baal Predator, Flamestorm Cannon - 115pts
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield - 155pts
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield - 155pts

Pts 1995pts

Heavy on the Heavy side. There is nothing in this army that you lose and you automatically lose the game. All bits are just cogs in the Mech jerkhole machine. I like the Vindicators as they go on a whole, I go through buildings with my Siege Shield phase towards the end of the game.

The lack of good troops is a problem, but the more I play with Blood Angels the more glass jaw I find them. 2 Long Ranged Lascannons to hopefully deal with any jerks that might be flying around too.

But there you go, 3 current Goatboy lists I play. These are all long the Heavy/Competitive side of things and when I normally play a fun game I don't bring anything like this. I usually try for some goofy stuff and test out different units to see if they might have any chance to make it to the big leagues hah.

FIrst of all

I moved the painting bits to my main site - Full of Monkey Painting Blog. Just a heads up, check it out I post weekly with stuff I am working on. Lots of random conversion stuff as well as other bits and pieces.

I will continue this blog as a place for my army lists, other links to other game related blogs, as well as just my kinda extra thoughts for the week. Most of the time it will be lists though, as that is my bread and butter haha. Currently I just finished up all the extra stuff for my Goat Angels/Space Goats army list. Current play list I am throwing down with for Goat Angels is a dreadnought heavy force. It is very aggressive list, which is normal for my builds. And I get to play the Space Goat Pope - Counts as Mephiston.

HQ: Mephiston
Elites: Librarian Dreadnought (Blood Lance, Wings)
Elites: Librarian Dreadnought (Shield, Wings)
Troops: Death Company (10), Power Weapon, Power Fist
Transport: Rhino
Troops: Death Company Dreadnought, Blood Talons
Troops: Death Company Dreadnought, Blood Talons
Troops: Assault Squad (5)
Transport: Razorback, TWL Lascannon
Troops: Assault Squad (5)
Transport: Razorback, TWL Lascannon
Troops: Assault Squad (5)
Transport: Razorback, TWL Lascannon
FA: Baal Predator, Flamestorm Cannon
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield
Heavy: Vindicator, Siege Shield

I know, copy paste for the troop choices but I really needed the range. The siege shield Vindicators are there to contest later, as they don't care about any terrain in front of them. It "MOVE, GIT OUT THA WAY, GIT OUT THA WAY, GIT OUT THA WAY!!!". But this is most likely my normal play list as I just like to throw down with Dreadnoughts. I might look at dropping Mephiston for other stuff, but really right now I just want to run and punch things in the face.

This weekend sees me playing at the Alamo 40k GT. I got my ticket for Vegas, but really wanted to throw down at this one. I am playing my Space Goats list this time, which is somewhat based off my list from Adepticon. The point totals are 2000 pts, and I changed up my Long Fang Squads to 3 - 3 ML, 2 HB squads as well as added in Canis and a Rune Priest. The 3 Grey Hunter squads has one with 9 guys to hide the Rune Priest in it. The dogs are also lessened as I was needing to tweak some points. Will see how they do. I know my Space Wolf lists are unorthodox but I think people need to look at going away from the normal builds that look too Space Marine like and go for things that represent well in that codex, pure brick to the face haha.

Goatboy 40k: Some Minis and Space Goats Ard Boyz list

I won't be playing Ard Boyz this year. Another wedding keeps me away. But I can still write lists haha. Who knows if this will be any good, but it sure does have a crap what am I facing feel to it.

HQ: Canis, Fenris Wolves X 2
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Saga of the Bear, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Wolf Tail Talisman, Runic Armor, Fenris Wolves X 2
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Saga of the Warrior Borne, Frost Weapon, Storm Shield, Wolf Tail Talisman, Runic Armor, Fenris Wolves X 2
HQ: Wolf Lord, Thunder Wolf, Saga of Majesty, Powerfist, Storm Shield, Wolf Tail Talisman, Runic Armor, Fenris Wolves X 2
Troops: Fenris Wolves X 15
Troops: Grey Hunters (10), Meltagun x 2, MoW, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters (10), Meltagun x 2, MoW, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters (10), Meltagun x 2, MoW, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters (5), Flamer, Razorback, TWL
Troops: Grey Hunters (5), Flamer, Razorback, TWL
Heavy: Long Fangs (6), ML X 5
Heavy: Long Fangs (6), ML X 5
Heavy: Long Fangs (6), ML X 5

This is my pure Assault with long range finger pointing action. It should be able to hurt someone, has 6 scoring units and a shit ton of tanks. Are you going to shoot the jerks with dogs coming at you? We also have 4 Wolf Tail Talisman's riding in the squad. Psychic battle squads? I don't think so. Roll 4 dice and if you get a 5 it turns off. Lash, 4 dice to get a 5. Good times i say. It also has enough Melta to hurt things as needed and the range is pretty good with 48" of everywhere. Who knows if it is any good. I would just need to make one more rhino and some extra dudes to have this army. Fun times indeed.

I am also wondering if a nob biker army could be a good dark horse initial play army for the beginning. It is something to think about as it does a good job of fully whipping out an enemy if not prepared for. Something to think about haha.

But alright - some Goat Angels stuff I painted up to get the army ready to go. I am itching to play some BA and I am a stickler about playing all painted armies. This also keeps me sane form the Nids stuff I am doing as well as finishing up an IG order that is huge haha. Fun times fun times. The Baal turret was built by a friend. I will be doing another one to match it up and keep the crazy Orkish/Chaos/Mad Max style the army seems to have.

The white guy is the Sanguinary Priest.

And here is a Lictor for the snow Nids I am painting up. I should have a Trygon later on this week too, got him built and the base built up. I need to add in some baby rippers running around. After that there is a Mawloc for the same guy as well as some Tervigons for another client. Fun times! The lictor is blending into the metal, thus the slight change in skin tone as well as reflecting the green glow. Plus some of the crazy Zonathropes I built for the customer.

I also did some quick WoC for a local client. They were fun to do and I just had fun working up the blue for this army.

Finally some Warmachine stuff. First some Khador things for the same client from before.

And some Bane Thralls for myself.

This are all from the last 3 weeks. I got a lot to do this coming month or so, so come back and check it out. My armies are pretty much done for now, with all the Nids needing to get finished before I can even think of my own gibbering horde.

Goatboy is Back

I will be working for 11 days straight. A friend covered for me while I was gone (yay for a low amount of coworkers) so now it is my turn to cover for him. This means lots and lots of minis are going to get painted. Right now here is the plain.

1 Kodiak - Build/Paint
1 Death Company Rhino - Build/Paint
3 Sanguinary Guard - Build/Paint
1 Mephiston Goat Conversion - Build/Paint
10 Random Guardsmen - Build/Paint
3 Missile Launcher Guardsmen - Build/Paint
3 Missile Launder Space Goats - Build/Paint
4 WoC Regular Knights - Paint
5 WoC Lance Knights - Paint
2 Tervigon Conversions - Build/Paint
1 Death Leaper - Build/Paint
5 Space Wolf Terminators - Build
Build Cards for other armies to use - Recombine old art and card design

Depending on what comes in - might be doing some Baal Predators and Vindicators. We shall see. I bet I get over half done, so will see. Depending on the mood I get in. But that is the so called plan. Look for another post later on this week with my Goat Angels army as well as some Ard Boyz thoughts for BA. It should be pretty fun hah.

And some minis. I swear more later. I am still tired.

40k!!! Before the Great Drive!

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have been just trying to get small things done as I prepare for the weekend of DICE known as Adepticon. So today is just a post with some new things I have painted as well as a BA list I might tweak and mess around with to help fight along side the Space Goats. Oh I also made a shirt too, that I will have on at Adepticon, graphic below.

So first things first - I played the Lone Wolf Fantasy GT and got 3rd best sportsmen. I went 4-1 and people still liked me hah. I think it comes down to the fact I a) Don't like to feel like I tricked my opponent b) I let people take back stuff. I have really strived to just be happy when I throw dice and this weekend was a lot of fun with a game I am not super fond of all the time. I played a Chaos Lord and he went around killing things with his Hellfire sword. Fun times.

Beyond that I am still working on some client IG stuff, Nid Stuff, and some Warmachine stuff too. I just like to paint all the time. The newer things that are coming out keep getting better and better so I am happy with the time I am spending. Right now I am ramping up on my own personal Goat Angels since they are only a few vehicles away from completion. After that it is my own Nids once I finish client Nids. Fun fun fun.

So enough already, onto some minis.

Two more Jacks and this clients order is done. This is a pretty neat model and I like the battle damaged modeled on it.

This is a crazy conversion for a Zonathrope. His brain is starting to suck in energy to shoot out a beam. I am thinking the next one will have a ball bearing in front to represent the power being sucked in. Thoughts?

Another batch of Elysiums for Luis.

And finally some Goat Angels. The two Dreads are Librarian Dreads with super strong arms. I wanted to go with an arm that is sorta like a gladiator with the extra armor that he can push and shove forward. The Death Company are basically the Goatmen that did not convert all the way over, thus they are fed blood until they are crazy and sent forth in a blood haze. Fun times eh?

Here is the Goat Angels list I am going to initially build. Changes that might occur is dropping a Librarian Dread, Powerfists on the Death Company, to fit in another troop choice. Not sure if it is worth it yet, but it is something to think about with the ability to combat squad. Might just be a tactical squad too. It just kinda depends on where I can change up points.

Goat Angels - 1.2 Initial Thought Build

HQ: Librarian, Blood Lance, Fear the Darkness
HQ: Librarian, Blood Lance, Fear the Darkness
Elites: Furioso Dreadnought, Librarian, Blood Lance, Fear the Darkness
Elites: Furioso Dreadnought, Librarian, Blood Lance, Fear the Darkness
Elites: Sang Priest X 2
Troops: Assault Squad (10), Meltagun X 2, Powerfist, Rhino
Troops: Assault Squad (10), Meltagun X 2, Powerfist, Rhino
Troops: Death Company (5), Powerfist X 2, Razorback, TWL Hvy Flamer
Troops: Death Company Dreadnought, Blood Talons
FA: Baal Predator, TWL Ass Cannons
FA: Baal Predator, TWL Ass Cannons
Heavy: Vindicator
Heavy: Vindicator

And finally after playing Warmachine a few times, I have found the card system for keeping wounds to be pretty neat. So I went ahead and made me a Space Goat one as well as a WoC one too. The Space Goat one has all the HQ's on it I normally take, as well as the Thunder Wolf Squad since they are a multi-wound unit. I am thinking i will make an Ork one for Nob Bikerz too. The WoC has hte EOG table on it, so you can mark off what they have. It also has slot to mark off what numbered spells you took as well as wounds for himself and his mount. I uploaded the High Rez versions so they should print fine to fit in the card sleeves.

If these interest you I can always make more. I am thinking of doing all my spells for Fantasy that I normally use. Instead of using Magic card art etc. So much to think about haha.
