Man this post took too long to write up

I kept getting side tracked with regular work, paint work, and kiddo/family etc. The life of having more to do then you have time to do.  Blah haha - lets do a paint list and then onto some meaty stuff.

Ah crap I need to pack up some stuff to ship too! Damnit!  I couldn't find the tape last night...

Alright - as you know I have been trying out a new army - the GK/BA thing.  I've played 3 games so far - should get more in this weekend with the update - thus the extra painting.  I've gone 1-2 with them - with 1 lose due to a mistake with the powers I threw and the other cuz Mephiston failed some charges for me.  It sucks but that is life.  It still felt like I was in it so at least that was a good thing army wise.  Quick rundown of what I faced.

Game 1 - Drop Guard Elysiums match up. I won this one after round 3 as I burned up all the guys.  Any light armor based army just does not like Novas.  I actually got off most of my powers in this game so that might be why it ended sooner.  Still - I burned up a lot of things.  Highlights - learning Misfortune plus Cleansing flame means I can take down flyers and other things.  Ignoring cover is hot too.

Game 2 - Eldar list with lots of warp spiders.  I lost this one due to trying to use Cleansing flame vs going for Force and Hammer hand.  I could have taken out the Dark Eldar Scalpel group if I had done things right.  Still the army worked out pretty well.  I also should have casted Force and Sanguine sword on Mephiston - could have won me the game there as well.  But again - army didn't feel like I was losing completely.  I failed like 30% of my powers too - plus some key spells like misfortuned etc.  I almost quadrupled the dice of my opponent on warp dice but never stopped a spell either.

Game 3 - Versus Gladius.  This was versus Frankies rough as hell army too.  I failed over 50% of my powers and still almost pulled it out.  If Meph had only not failed 2 charges it might have been me winning the battle report.  Again when the Novas went off they were brutal.  Popping Rhinos and killing all the scouts.  It just causes a lot of hits.  It did make me rethink the army and come up with the following rebuild too.

I gain 6 Objective secured units for the loss of the assault squad and the extra librarian that didn't do much.  I also lose the hammer on one purifier squad which is kind of sad but I found he always died before he got to swing.  This army feels a lot better and I think it will give a lot of armies fits as it does weird things.  Plus it just auto hits everything all the time too.  Will write up the test games this weekend and see how it pans out.

I keep thinking a list like this might be a good meta choice with ITC.  Lots of fast units, a good null deploy strategy and enough weapons to be a hurting.

The idea is that you can outflank everything, come in and be a pain in the butt - hiding out from Tau and other things.  The 2 Cyber Wolf Iron priest join up the Grav Bike squads and give an extra 2 wounds they can sacrifice etc.  The Melta is there - cuz sometimes you need it.  It feels alright - it has a lot of guns and can move around a lot.  The single drop pod is so you can null deploy if you make them go first.

Woohoo!! I got the wifey things. She has a bday on the 30th so I got her things for that too. She is getting me the body for a Contemptor dread. It will have a Goat head on it because I obviously hate the game. Hehe. A buddy is getting me one too so that one will be a Chaos one as we need one for games locally. Beyond that I might buy myself something 40k. Who knows.

I also got all the pieces for a small addition to the Ork army I painted last month (small my ass - 40 shoota boyz and 6 nob bikerz hehe). They will have cool heads so look for those starting up soon.

I am excited about this new Goat Guard guy as it will mean I get to paint more goats. Yay for my own personal stuff! I still need to rework a logo and I am just stuck on the design for right now. Might look to a graphic logo for an Icon and then a more cartoon like one for my banner head. I need something different. I also drew up Mortarion and Dorn. Colored Mortarion and Dorn will be coming soon. From there I will color up some of the older ones and continue on my goal to get GW mad at me for drawing the Primarchs for fun. I should just make the Goat Primarch - Goaticus the Mad! In fact I will go ahead and do that damnit. Codex Goat.

I like it so far as it moves and has lots of dudes. Not sure if the Wolf lord is needed as much, but it lets me play with Lemmy my super Wolf lord model. He isn't as nutty as I normally make him but he works this way. I wish I could have Logan in there - as it would make my WG scoring. I could probably do that. It would be a monster set of scoring units and that might not be too bad. I wouldn't have the Rock - but still. It could be an annoying list. Blargh.

Woot - Goatboy is back in town!

Got back from the Boyz - my bud Nick aka Darkwynn won the whole thing. Dodge me and I was in it till the end when the good ole Greg Sparks spanked the poor little Goatboy. I need to get my head out my ass and just stop over thinking things too much. Go for the grind versus the trick and just bring it. That is my plan for Feast. Let the dice rolls ruin me not my bad decisions!

I turned in my list - it should work out ok with some new design bits in it etc. I will post it up before I go but I think it will work out good. I call it Superman and Batman - Friends Forever!

Beyond this I am excited about Necrons coming out. I can't buy anything as this last month has just about killed me. So if you are looking at getting some art, minis, etc from me it would be great to have an email from ya. As usual art is $25.00 for most of it and I am lately moving back towards hand drawing stuff. Pictures coming at the end.

Paint list is shorter as my brain gets back into it and then I hit the feast. Fun times haha.

Sunday before Adepticon

Not really nervous - just excited to get a vacation into 40k fun. You all know what I plan on playing - Grammar Wolves! Woohoo. Full list will be posted on Bols at some point. No razorbacks either so everyone can shut the hell up haha. I also finished up some commission work this week and overall had a crazy paint week. This week will be slow due to just setting things up and getting ready for the road trip from hell hah.

Last week I did the following

1 Plastic Dudemens - Maybe - I got an idea.

So far I have some interesting Grey Knights thoughts. Most likely a good core of 30 to 40 scoring troops. The guys are fragile no matter what you think of 3+ armor especially when you mix in that no matter what they are the only threat the army has. That is what I find interesting in all the lists - if all you have is Razorbacks then it is easy for the opponent to choose what to kill. I mean really - there is no bad option to shoot at as the range you have is short and it is easy to figure out the threat. Just shoot what is going to get within 24 and call it a day. Yeah you could assault them but really if you are seeing small weenie squads of 5 in a box then just shoot them. You can easily do 6 or so wounds and that kills 2 of them most of the time. Get that Justicar out of there and they are leadership 8 - welcome to Tank shocking for the win. That is just me. But hell I like to play full 10 man squads.

I am enjoying the Iron Warriors build so far. It is fun and it looks neat. Who knows how good the army will be as it is low on overall troop choices. Yes there are 4 but I only have 20 true scoring units and lots of robots. But F it I love me some robots damnit! Look for one more post on Wednesday before I go and hopefully get another dreadnought or two from the Iron Warriors side.

Another neat thing I drew on my friends Battle Foam bag. I just whipped this up in about 20 or so minutes on the bag. Markers are fun. I plan on bringing some markers when I hit Adepticon so if you want something give me a shout and some booze and I can sketch something out. Unless of course you hate it and me.

Goatboy's 40k Extra - WOOHOO I make people mad.

Well if you are a BOLS reader you know I kicked someone's puppy, took their parking spot, and probably peed in some cheerios. It is pretty interesting and I wonder if they hate the Wolves dex more then they hate the army. At least I got a of it looks good :). I guess people just hate people playing "Chaos" Wolves. So in order to take away the whole Word Bearers vibe the army is now called - THE GRAMMAR WOLVES!!! - Keeping grammar safe through out the galaxy - bearing words and making sure the dull point of prose of sharp and aggressive!

It is pretty interesting to see that even though the army is fully painted - wyswig - and within the rules of the game it still makes people mad. Oh well. I will play it - have a good time with opponents as they beat up on my little ponies and have a good time. You would think people would be happy I am not all about Goat this and Goat that. I do plan on painting Grey Knights as Grey Knights. I like the design so I am all about it. Shit isn't this game about having fun?

I keep getting more and more excited about the UK trip for Geek Nation Tours. I am bringing along my awesome wife so she can experience Britain. Lucky for us Teras is going to be doing some tour stuff for her that fits within the gaming tour. So if you are thinking of going and have a wife, girlfriend, etc that wants to go to Britain - see a lot of cool stuff - but the gaming thing might not be up their alley - Teras can set something up for ya. It should be an awesome time and I can't wait to get overseas to have people kick my Hot Dog, Apple Pie, and Gas Guzzling SUV butt all over the place.

I am going to do some interviews on BOLS with the tour from past tour peeps. It should be fun and a lot of them are going again - which is pretty awesome as they obviously had a blast. Woohoo!!! This is gonna be fun.

Just some small weapon swap tweaks which I can easily do even in the evil cold weather we are having right now. I think I have one more dude men to paint too. I messed up initial Army Builder build - so I have to do some tweaks. No Wolf Scouts as people got mad at Dryads on circle bases - but they are done and I can use them later if need be. Woohoo!!!

Man it is cold as hell - went from 65 - 25 in a few hours - you got to love Texas right. Means I don't get to do as much painting - so I will just catch up on Art stuff :). Which is always good.

Been sick most of this week. Feeling like ass from Allergies, Cold, and probably Mr. Black's voodoo doll. Either way it makes me feel crappy. But someone it is good for productivity because if I can do something that keeps my mind off feeling like ass - I will do it.

This Thursday I plan on playing a game versus the Crazy Red Praetorium. I plan on bringing Daemons but might switch to a weird Logan list I will be building on for a previous client. Remember those World Eaters - he wants more and will be doing a Angron/Logan with dual chain axes and other nonsense. Will see if it works out right. It should look neat no matter what :). I think next week I am going to break out my Cryx and play some Warmachine too. I need to finish one model to get them all ready and will have that army on the table top. I will also be painting some more Khador stuff too as usual.
